It is remarkable how the design can be so minimalist and yet so natural and realistic. It makes no attempt to hide the "pilot", but it doesn't have to. That's clever, because it keeps the weight at a minimum and allows the pilot to look around and keep aware of their surroundings (which is important if you're running around in a costume like this). The dogs in the video didn't seem to care that there's a person inside it. The kids certainly didn't, and neither would I. :-) Good job!
This is the most realistic suit I have ever seen. Adding a skin costume and making it flexible is gonna be definitly cause people to think it’s real. Great job.

Wow very good and looks very natural to the movement, although not all covered but still looks very cool. greetings from Indonesia🇮🇩and I will try to make it😄😍
Hey, I LOVE the suit and I'm making it this year for Halloween! I was wondering if you had the measurements of the pipes in length. If not, it's fine. But I really do love the suit. Your technical and engineering skills are phenomenal!❤
Hi there! I don't have the measurements for you, partly because I didn't measure everything myself (just went with the lengths that worked) and because some lengths also depend on the person wearing it. Awesome to hear though that there's gonna be one more dino walking this earth :D I'd love it if you send me some pictures of the result, got a special place on my website for the dino army: esmeekramer.com/community-and-inspired-work/ Anyways, good luck!

So I’m trying to remake this costume but since there are no blueprints I can’t get the proportions right. Would you be willing to give me the lengths of the base structure? Like the middle rectangle of the costume? Also, what is the lengths of the tail and the neck?
Really cool, I thought this was made in Stan Winston or something. I was thinking maybe I could find something helpful for the head of my Godzilla suit I am making. Pipes are a bit large and cables are a no go, but very useful ideas i might implement if I make something in the future.
I'm glad you like it, but I'm not planning on doing more videos. I simply don't have the time for a full tutorial. But if you really want to make one you can, you just need to take some time to figure out the steps on your own. You can use this video for reference on the structure, materials and mechanics. And yeah, even though I have some sketches in this video, I would still suggest you sketch some parts yourself to better understand it. Try to bend a few PVC pipes and experiment with them before trying to build the costume. The costume wasn't build in a day, so don't try to take a day or a week for this, you need to be prepared to work on it for months, so if you start now aim for Halloween next year. If you are determined enough you will get there.
You know, if she ever did decide she wanted to concal the pilot, she could lightly wrap the frame with a thin, transparant material like speaker cloth to keep the same airflow and visibility, without seeing so much of the framework. Still a freaking epic costume though, even seeing her whole body. Its just so pleasant to look at an lifelike, you barely notice the whole human that's standing there.
Wow, this is amazing! Hey, when your next vid? Also, you should make it look like a real dinosaur costume, it's amazing how you can control the dinosaur.
Thank you so much! Im not planning on building the dinosaur any further, but I am working on another project. (And I've got lots of ideas for other projects, just currently not enough time). I can't make any promises though how long it'll still take before that's finished.
I love your amazing project so much...I would like to make a costume like this for kids. Thus, is it possible for you to provide us the full sketch with dimensions as well as detailed mechanics? I would add more features for the costume like fan, monitor, led lighting electrics, sound system and smoke system if possible with your design. Thanks and have a good day
Thank you! Though I don't have a full blueprint, I didn't exactly measure stuff to be honest, the raptor is not scientifically accurate. While building I was basically like: "This looks about right/works so lets go with this size." I would advice to keep the length of the people who would wear this costume in mind, the balance between front/back, and just try what works for you. Also I'm not sure if PVC pipes would be adviced when going for a closed of costume, besides vision and heat there's also the problem of getting the skin in the proper form, and you need to watch the weight. Have a nice day as well, and good luck!
It's amazing and I'm glad I found this. I have to know... Why? Why dinosaur? Why build anything? I hope the answer is just because but was there a reason?

thats really impresive, im sure u worked hard on it you deserve 1M sub, i wish i know how to make it... and im only 13. Oh yeah and one more thing, what raptor species it is, is it an austroraptor, a velociraptor an utah raptor?
That's very kind of you! Just keep creating things, sketching to understand the mechanics, and maybe one day you will be able to make one yourself. The most important parts are motivation and time. If you have those two you'll be able to figure out the rest. As for the species, I didnt specifically choose one, most sizes are based on what felt right in my head without following a specific reference, so probably a mix between all.
this is amazing!! can i ask what kind of pipe you used? are the pipes water pipes or are they PVC conduit? i'm making a dragon puppet/costume for my amateur theatre group, using your techniques as a guide, and i'm trying to keep the cost down but still have it be functional and not bend in the middle from the weight of the head and tail.
Hi there! I used the pvc pipes meant for electricity wires, not water pipes. The water pipes are a bit sturdier, heavier, but I suspect you can't bend them as easily with a heatgun. Although as I've heard from some others the available pipes and their specific material can differ per country
@@esmeekramer1436 thank you! i'm looking at using a mixture of both - electrical conduit for most of it, and water pipe for the long pieces of the dragon to stop it from bending under its own weight too much... did you have much of a problem with pieces like the neck sagging on the frame? since conduit is quite bendable...
Hey Esmée. This is a great video and a very creative project! I’m curious, what’re some of the lengths and measurements of the pvc pipes? Such as the neck, the tail, and the body frame?

(6:22 in video) The lengths of the legs are 60cm (23.6 in) from hip to knee, 55cm (21.7 in) from knee to heel and 42cm (16.5 in) from heel to foot. The tail is 2m 10cm (6ft 10.6772in) measured from the start of the top pipe to end of the foam (9:20 in video) Arguably it may be a bit too short, but I'm kind of a pro at accidentally hitting people with it, so it's long enough for me ;)
