I had a fight like this yesterday on an invasion (I was invaded). It was actually worth talking about. 2 heavy weapons guys slugging it out; he had his spear, I had the Greatsword. No potions left... It ended with both of us killing each other.

This one time I was summoned as a Hunter, and I fought the Invader in a really dark room in the early Haligtree areas, and we both died at the same time, face to face, and watching us both turn into red and blue dust and blow away in darkness was really cool and really pretty.

I like that the two of you didn’t spam one distanced attack over and over. You used an incredible variety of attacks to the point of it being somewhat comical
comical in the sense of how the meta works or how most pvp duels go, but in the context of two battle wizards fighting to the death, the amount of spellwork seems appropriate.

The only time a fight ended like that in my game was when I was fighting the Crucible knight in the dimensional pocket prison. I was low hp without any heal and I just needed 1 attack to finish him. He was charging a big attack so I wanted to dodge but a random rock made me unable to move away from his range so in panic I attacked him as fast as I could and we both died in the same time. I still got the runes, the items etc... so I guess it's a total victory for me.
I love it when fights are genuine, and not cancer builds

If you can time your rolls proficiently, know how to work just past the outside of your opponent’s weapon range and know how to keep your opponent just inside of yours- then it’s time to hit folks with VARIETY. There are tons of obscure but useful & unique spells/ incantations/ AoW that many aren’t even aware of! One of the coolest things in this game is the sheer amount of stuff you never use because human nature is to make sense in chaos. In other words, we tend to find something that comes easily and is very effective and just always use that. But ER has so much more that works if not on surprise value alone!
Plus you can't level up everything so you're forced to decide early on. You could always change up you stats but that's a pain in the ass just to try something you might not even like.
I loved the game so much that I have tried all weapons, spells, AOWs and incantations.

It's funny because some people complain that it's just spell spamming when that is literally what wizards do.
Right, you wouldn't say a melee build is spamming attack unless it was the same attack of course. Attacking is just what melee builds do, same for these builds and magic.

Elden Ring is unique in that there are still plenty of people high up and according to some, even more. There's really not a hardline community effort to remain a certain level for PVP like the last games.

@@revenge3265 Cap. The community level is 125 for duels and 150 for PVE. Don't let scrubs try to persuade you otherwise
Or just a scaling down/scaling up opition, which already exists in the game for passworded matching, granted it's not perfect, like for an example i believe status effects such as bloodloss don't get scaled down.
Its been months and im amaze there are players who are bellow lvl 200
I have a level 250 toon that is basically God in elden ring then I have a main which is level 165 and will go no higher (pvp reason)

This was a great duel to watch. It's a shame I just can't play a sorcery build; believe me, I've tried. I just can't, and indeed won't, deal with the constant spamming of the up button on the D-Pad. If only there was a better way to cycle between spells (like holding down a button and using a rotary menu with an analog stick).
I find Sorcery fun, but I limit myself to what spells to use, like with this guy I probably would not have used Rykards spell, because it just never seems to hit, as much as I love the ice theme, the ice spells are also way too slow, aside from Adula’s moon blade.
Ranni’s moon is fun, but easily dodged.
Bow users suffer from a similar issue of arrows being so freaking slow, and a painful system for free aim that doesnt work well, it’d be cool to have crosshairs for things to free aim arrows, and spells.
If you hold up on the dpad it cycles back to the first spell on your spell bar. Same with your item bar and holding down,
I've always said that the pvp meta should be higher. elden ring builds really get interesteing on higher levels

I can't duel in this game for nothing (also haven't committed to it like the other Soulsbornes) but you gotta love a good fight

I'm around level 300 and go around as the Haligtree lord running a hybrid faith/int but with the higher level im able to stay a poise heavy tank it's a lotta fun

I started playing this game 2 days ago, never experienced a game like this, every time i shut down my Playstation i want to start up aigan to continu playing. The game is extremely hard and without any experience in any dark soul game this is like learning how to drive without legs. Seeing stuff like this makes me extremely excited to level up and learn new skills!

Been going on since Demon's Souls. I always played with my favourite variety of builds. Also, not too skilled at PVP, average at best tbh, but fun > winning. Of course skill and fun > losing :P.

Elden Ring PVP is pretty nice when it isn't just RoB and BS spam.
I figured it was going to end with fan daggers but the actual ending was even better.
To everyone watching, good luck actually finding people like this. Most people at SL 150+ just run the most pathetic meta bleed/ poke builds. Even sorcery builds will only use Stars of Ruin and carian blades. At least from my personal experience. I don't think I've ever seen a single person use Elden Stars Or the Loretta's Greatbow.
After dabbling in PvP in every level range from 12 to 200 I can agree that unfortunately a lot of players you'll go up against try to use the same or similar builds for the quickest and easiest win. I don't think that the high levels are inherently worse in regards to that however. In fact in my own experiences I've gone up against noticeable less easy-win builds at the higher levels. Though of course when you do find someone still playing that same way they have even more HP and Poise, so that's not very fun. All in all this problem of overused builds is much of why the fight in this video felt so refreshing. Just two fashionable fellows fighting it out for fun with off-meta builds and not caring too much who wins or loses. The real 'Meta' imo.
There isn't anything more sad in the sould like séries than spells not being actually viable in pvp
There is only a few thats true, Adula’s moonblade, Stars of Ruin… these two really are the best for PvP.
Maybe the backstab sorcery as a backup, but that spell is so janky have the time it doesnt hit.
Bows are also another issue with PvP.

The most unrealistic part of this entire fight was the mans name being fully uncensored
I had an amazing duel and I started to get the upper hand and I was so proud. I forgot I had my hunter sign on and he ran up behind and back stabbed the guy. I was so embarrassed and now I’m paranoid when I go to pvp
Watching this made me actually see magic and fun to use for the first time, and see PvP as potentially fun for the first time. Melee PvP looks janky and Magic PvE is boring cuz the targets are boring, but Magic PvP looks interesting in a corny, fun way.
My current run is a Glaivemaster Hodir thing tho where I'm trying to seriously master the glaive, and somehow watching this video made me realize I should carry multiple glaives (hypothetically up to 6 glaives) each with different Arts of War on them so I have a super wide move pool. (I already use Keyboard and Mouse instead of Controller because it gives me much better control over swings so I can hit with the earliest parts of the swing and control my up/down aim and such. Normal Chivalry/Mordhau stuff that's unacknowledged but possible and useful in Elden Ring.
@Gabe which part? Are you just referring to how carrying 6 glaives would mean massive weight expenditure so I can't wear much armor? I mean yes, I'm not building for PvP, I'm building for maximum Glaivemaster.
@Gabe ah yeah haven’t ever made it that far, I keep restarting to try different builds cuz I get bored but don’t wanna lose access to my previous build by respecing. Are you saying that heavy armor is mandatory past midgame?
@@Lessen0 Heavy armor is never mandatory if you are super good and can just not get hit. But carrying a bunch of different cool weapons and wearing little to no armor definitely means you are playing the game on hardmode
@@eiylakaplan8041 in pve... sure but heavy armor gives poise which makes hyper armor more effective. depends how you play. In pvp tho, its not as easy as "just dont get hit"
Harry Potter could learn a thing or two from this duel.
This is how I pack my spells and incantations into battle. I come in looking like a strength build or Ronin then utilize 2 status ailments 4 spell rotations and a dragons ass breath to keep you shuffling toes. The best builds are either perfect themed or perfectly balanced with all styles. Loved the dedicated Carian Knight. I've been meaning to make that a playthrough build.

It's so hard to find pvp like this where people want fights to be varied and engaging and intense.
It would be nice if the fromsoft games had speed limiters and recovery penalties against repeating the same move more than once. Making repetition less reliable, so people stop spamming.
Main problem is that mechanics like that which would work for PvP would feel awful for PVE. And since Soulsbourne games integrate the two so closely, you can't have your cake and eat it too.

Completely unplanned! Was just putting my Duelist sign down at the Academy Gate for some fights in the night and had the pleasure of being summoned by this Carian Knight cosplay. It was a blast fighting them! Thought it was such a fun fight, especially after quite a few less than fun duels immediately prior, so I saved the clip and thought it worth sharing!
kind of fitting they both died. Both were mvp's during the fight. Both very skilled.

I think 160 should be the meta, 150 feels like a 95-98% complete build.
at 175 I get instant duels here. I get 150s and 160s for hosts too

yeah sure in a game that already encourages spamming shit and where nearly everything can finish you in two hits . if we let pure physical builds get like 30+ mind or mages 61+ poise there's no point in getting better in the actual gameplay . tournaments meta is 125
@@FedericoBagnolini it's just that 150-160 allows you to hit the soft caps while having a little extra build variety without going too overboard. But if you find 125 fun then that's cool, just do what you wanna do man.
