The movie not only looks better, of course, but I really enjoy the fight being shorter. Beerus exerted himself even *less* in the movie. Also, I much prefer the movie K.O - Beerus is just playing with him. A mere tap, KO’d the mighty Super Saiyan 3 dead in his tracks. The anime version isn’t terrible, but I think the movie is way more effective.
Animation aside, I really like the movie's fight a lot more. It shows the overwhelming gap between the two. Berrus is able to effortlessly block his punch, daze Goku with a single flick, and take him out in a single hit that he couldn't even see. But it still shows the shear strength of SSJ3 from a single punch from Goku ripping a hole through the planet. The series one is fine, but it feels like a lot of other fights. Flurry of punches, ki blasts getting deflected, fluff lines to taunt and intimidate.
Its funny that the anime doesn't even look that bad, until you pause the frames and see some ugly stills, which doesn't count as bad animation. I also liked the choreography a lot more, but the animation quality is definitely better in Battle of Gods.
Kidding aren't you? It's fucking terrible, especially from an art and animation standard. Look at shows like AOT and DS. Hell even look at shows from the 80s and 90s... It was piss poor so that Toei could save some money

I completely agree, sometimes I couldn't tell which one was which because they both looked surprisingly good. When I first watched super I obviously watched the fixed version but I came out of the episode really impressed by the animation and action, definitely better than I expected.
The animation of course looked more fluid in the movie, but the fight was more detailed. The animation in DB Super itself was mostly bad when the fighting happened. I've seen worse though, like Naruto vs Pain.

@@great159 he's talking about the time that the staff spends doing the anime (movie and series), that is, the production time. movies can have months or even years to be produced, with lots of money. on the other hand, anime series usually have a production time about of one week for every episode to be animated, with a budget of probably 1 or 2 million dollars for each cour (12 episodes) of the anime.
make the comparison using the blu-ray version of Dragon Ball Super ;) nowadays it is not so difficult to get the scenes of this fight in Blu-Ray, because the producers recognized that this animation was *VERY BAD* and only made available for the dubbing of other countries the Blu-Ray version.

I don't know why people think the show has "better action and fight choreography." The choreography for the show is absolutely asinine. Punches feel week and the overall movement is uninteresting. Super is "longer," but only because it's more drawn out. More things actually happen in Battle of the Gods, it's just that it doesn't waste your time like Super does.
i was holding my tears when Goku was fighting in the anime, that part when he is doing the same ugly punch was scaring me about Super, the only time i stopped worrying is when Gohan said goodbye to Trunks, because until that part i didn’t liked the art style
Why didn't they just cut battle of gods into pieces as that for like 3-4 or 4-5 episodes for super and we could've gotten more story arcs instead of like 6-7 episodes for this, especially since super had way worse animation then battle of the gods
The fact that they didn't just re-edit BoG and ResF into episodes and "fill in the blanks" with new animation around it to expand them is beyond me. They had all of this great animation done for the films, instead of re-animating it entirely...why not USE that ready-made material and just fill in the blanks around it? Each film could have been an even 10 episodes by editing what was there and filling in gaps with new material. The way Demon Slayer turned their canon film into an arc of episodes was 100% the best solution. They did a new episode as a lead-in, and then just edited the movie into episodes and added material where needed. The perfect solution. If you are going to 'replace' a canon film with an arc of episodes you might as well use the God-Tier animation you've already done for the film.
The movie version is superior. The one thing that the enemy did better was how Beerus beat Goku. He flicked it and then just tapped on his shoulder or in between that spot. That was superior. But we can’t pretend like the way Goku was beat in the movie was weak. The way he’s being here who is arguably more humiliated in the movie than it was in the anime arc. Because he just hit him in that one spot in between the shoulder again but it was like I loved it and Goku is done. So I recognize those two strengths but ultimately I’ll say 99% the movie version is far more impactful superior in regards to it art form and the sound quality. Oh the mood battle of gods movie is superior through and through. There is no disappointment there is no failure there is no digression. The anime arc Quality falters quite a bit.
Honestly: The movie version of the fight looks good, but it's just less than the show's fight. The movie's fight is so boring and quick, even though it gets to show us the gap in Beerus' power from Goku's in comparison. But it doesn't portray Goku the way he is and they don't even fight for a full minute in the movie. It just isn't captivating. Nice comparison though.

Look, let’s be fair; even if Super was given a higher budget and its animators more time to work on 10 episodes (for those who don’t know, Toei wanted ten episodes at first and intended to green light further production if DBS was successful), a high-budget Dragon Ball film will always be better than an anime adaptation.

You are incorrect. They overloaded episode production, episodes take much longer than 1 week. A good episode really needs 8 weeks or more. A fantastic episode can get up to 11 weeks. This episode was made in 5 and naoke Tate pretty much animated the entire second half on his own

I know I might be called crazy for this but I genuinely think that dbs was way better. Of course they ssj1 and ssj2 parts were trash but the dbs version actually looks better and I would rather watch in my opinion. Not even joking but when I first watched this video I was confused on which one was which because they were so good, so in a way I came in unbiased even though I watched the original scenes before. Super does this weird thing with the movie adaptations where it sucks for most of the fight and then randomly gets better, for example with Golden Frieza vs. Vegeta Blue it was actually better than the movie version, despite the rest of the arc being some of the worst animated material I've ever watched.

Why didn't they just cut battle of gods into pieces as that for like 3-4 or 4-5 episodes for super and we could've gotten more story arcs instead of like 6-7 episodes for this, especially since super had way worse animation then battle of the gods
The fact that they didn't just re-edit BoG and ResF into episodes and "fill in the blanks" with new animation around it to expand them is beyond me. They had all of this great animation done for the films, instead of re-animating it entirely...why not USE that ready-made material and just fill in the blanks around it?
Each film could have been an even 10 episodes by editing what was there and filling in gaps with new material.
The way Demon Slayer turned their canon film into an arc of episodes was 100% the best solution. They did a new episode as a lead-in, and then just edited the movie into episodes and added material where needed. The perfect solution. If you are going to 'replace' a canon film with an arc of episodes you might as well use the God-Tier animation you've already done for the film.
The movie version is superior. The one thing that the enemy did better was how Beerus beat Goku. He flicked it and then just tapped on his shoulder or in between that spot. That was superior. But we can’t pretend like the way Goku was beat in the movie was weak. The way he’s being here who is arguably more humiliated in the movie than it was in the anime arc. Because he just hit him in that one spot in between the shoulder again but it was like I loved it and Goku is done. So I recognize those two strengths but ultimately I’ll say 99% the movie version is far more impactful superior in regards to it art form and the sound quality. Oh the mood battle of gods movie is superior through and through. There is no disappointment there is no failure there is no digression. The anime arc Quality falters quite a bit.

Honestly: The movie version of the fight looks good, but it's just less than the show's fight. The movie's fight is so boring and quick, even though it gets to show us the gap in Beerus' power from Goku's in comparison. But it doesn't portray Goku the way he is and they don't even fight for a full minute in the movie. It just isn't captivating. Nice comparison though.
John Robert the movie doesn't have much time on their hands. They need to rush things so that they can focus on the main fight. Its understandable why the movie fight is shorter.

Look, let’s be fair; even if Super was given a higher budget and its animators more time to work on 10 episodes (for those who don’t know, Toei wanted ten episodes at first and intended to green light further production if DBS was successful), a high-budget Dragon Ball film will always be better than an anime adaptation.
This was the early episodes, it got way better along the way, and tbf, with super hero it proves it doesent always seem better.

You are incorrect. They overloaded episode production, episodes take much longer than 1 week. A good episode really needs 8 weeks or more. A fantastic episode can get up to 11 weeks. This episode was made in 5 and naoke Tate pretty much animated the entire second half on his own

I know I might be called crazy for this but I genuinely think that dbs was way better. Of course they ssj1 and ssj2 parts were trash but the dbs version actually looks better and I would rather watch in my opinion.
Not even joking but when I first watched this video I was confused on which one was which because they were so good, so in a way I came in unbiased even though I watched the original scenes before. Super does this weird thing with the movie adaptations where it sucks for most of the fight and then randomly gets better, for example with Golden Frieza vs. Vegeta Blue it was actually better than the movie version, despite the rest of the arc being some of the worst animated material I've ever watched.
