    I had to replace a water pump and the tensioner pulley because it was making a rattling noise. ( tensioner pulley) Nissan Altima does not have a picture showing you how to put the serpentine belt. Thank you for putting up this video.

    Very well done!
    I expect it will be the same on my 2.5 Litre 2005 Nissan X-Trail (a small SUV model that never sold in the USA)
    I found it refreshing that you didn't recommend tensioner and water pump replacement at the same time. If it ain't broke, don't fix it - and they're fairly easily accessed if/when they do fail.

      You can also just slip a screwdriver in there rather than a 6mm bolt. That was an important tip: while you are pulling on the belt tensioner pulley, slip a screwdriver in there when the holes line up (getting someone put the screwdriver in while you are pulling on the tensioner is the easiest way)

    My boyfriend recently did replaced the serpentine belt in my 02 Altima, but sadly he didn’t watch your video & accessed everything from the engine bay. The belt is properly routed but it looks to me as if the tensioner pulley is no longer in line with the water pump pulley. I would say the tensioner pulley is closer to the passenger tire by at least 1-2 grooves on the belt. Does that make sense?
    He says it’s fine, but I’m not so sure. Is this a problem? And if so, how can I realign the pulleys? I understand if you’re unable to answer, but thank you in advance for your time.

    • @toomuchtruth
      @toomuchtruth 6 лет назад

      Hey, it sounds like you should get someone to adjust it for you. If your boyfriend won't do it go to a shop. Once they loosen the tensioner it should be easy to just adjust the part of the belt that's misaligned. Shouldn't cost much.

    • @scientist100
      @scientist100 4 года назад +1

      The new belt will fit very tight, make sure the tensioner has been fully depressed. Also check that the belt is about the same size as the original, the new one will be short very little but not much.
