I always giggle whenever I hear Billy play, he's so good!
It's illegal to be this damn good.
Billy Sheehan slapping, whoa! And doing it damn well, of course!
Some things I learned from the video. 1. I really need this pedal. 2. Billy is a great salesman, going into all the details and answering all the questions I had. All the other "reviewers" just say turn this and it does that, Billy shows it. The sonic capability is very impressive.
Wow...I like that input loop for adding a chorus to just the high end. The chip options are interesting too!!
Trance 9 i’m actually curious, what kind of chips can you put in there?
if i knew, i would absolutely buy one, since i like the distortion but not quite as much as some of the other types of distortion i’ve heard
@@EmptyDomoKanti99 - I know this is an old post, and you probably know by now, but you can't just put any RANDOM chip in there. It's got to be a dual op-amp with the same pin configuration.
Man he as an awesome player and what a nice human in everything I’ve seen him part of. A very giving/sharing bass player in the bassworld’s community. And what a practical useable, real world pedal!🤙🏼🤙🏼 Very nice job.
Love Billy! One of my all time favorite bass players much respect. Got to pick this up :)
Thanks Billy! So kool and you have such a humble good heart. God bless you man!
The chip isn't soldered and is swappable?! WHAT?! I've never seen that before!
Billy Sheehan one of the goat. Just awesome 😊😁
Best pedal out there!!
Ha Ha! Swappable op amps. Thats so nerdy. I LOVE it! 🤩 With gifted playing like that you could sell refrigerators to eskimos. Unique pedal. Like the man himself. There is nothing else quite like it.
Sounds great! I've had a few EBS products over the years and looks like this one will be the next!
Fantastic pedal and great playing Billy!!! I have EBS flat patch guitar cables and they are the best! Time to try one of their overdrives i guess....
I love Billy and his AMAZING playing! Been following you for years. Keep on rockin' it brother!
I have seen Billy play live many times with Vai and Satch G3 tours, etc. Fantastic professional and an amazing bass player!
Finally a bass friendly distortion with bass friendly parameters and options.
That’s the way it’s done 👏🏻
Who is better than Billy???? Forget his playing, I mean as a person.
Exactly .a true bass master and educator ..I could listen to him all day
He is the best dude!
Nobody my friend. He's a true down to earth gentlemen.
Spot on what I was thinking. Great player, great guy. Someone I want to hang out with.
Agreed!
THAT WAS JUST TOO AWESOME!!
Another great pedal from EBS👍, Actually got all three generation of this one 😊🎸
What's the difference with the other two versions? Does this one still have compression?😎
Great video!! Glad i met him at 4 Sound Music Store in Oslo September 2019 !!
Awesome!
Really need to get one of these!!!!!
After two first and two second editions this is my 5th Sheehan signature overdrive pedal trough the years to addition to my many other EBS effect pedals. I love it! Thank you Billy, thank you EBS!
What's the difference with the other two versions? Does this one still have compression?
I wasn't familiar with Mr. Sheehan before, but this is a good advertisement. He's charismatic and to the point and the product is actually interesting.
I have the original pink pedal, but this one is calling my name.
Great stuff, lots of other great players (Geddy Lee, Stanley Clarke, etc) use a split-signal clean/dirty high/low setup too.
I love that Billy's "clean tone" is still hot as hell :-)
The socketed dual op-amp is really really cool! Fantastic idea, it's like trying out different tubes!
Wow ..super pedal and playing..I want one
Dang Bill! I enjoyed your playing on this demo more than the info! Great pedal BTW! See ya later!
Sweet pedal, I’ll be getting one, thx Billy
good idea
i'd love to try this pedal, looks like you can mess around endlessly with great results.
Awesome.
Zero dislikes, awesome
can we just talk about how cool his chain is??
Need a plug in version of this sweet baby!
@EBS ... if you ever make a 4th version, please add an DI-Out!
Hello, people of EBS! I think that this pedal is amazing! I have two qüestions:
1- Does the boost button work with both channels, Clean and Overdrive?
2- Is the compression system of the pedal enough? Or is it necessary another compression pedal? Does the compression works also with both channels?
Thank you very much! I have the Reidmar 750 ant it is an amazing amp!
I have the Deluxe (previous) model to this version. In mine the boost doesn't really add volume, it adds saturation on top of the non boosted sound. The amount of extra gain is controlled from a trimpot inside the pedal.
In regards to the compressor from memory it applies directly after the signal is combined from the clean and drive channels. I really like it - I run this as second pedal on my chain directly after tuner. It adds some nice punch and leveling and I don't think an additional comp is necessary. Again it has 2 settings (Mild and High), with the Mild setting also adjustable with internal trimpots (ratio and threshold).
Incredible pedal.
@@jcburn1973 Thank you for the information!
@@jcburn1973 i didnt understand the part about adjusting the compressor in the mild option, can you explain it plesasee :) !!!
@@matiasmaldonadov Hi Matias - I'll try to explain but let me know if this doesn't make sense!!! If you have the compressor set to the "High" position the threshold and ratio are set and cannot be adjusted. Don't quote me on this but I think the ratio for the high setting is 5:1, not sure on the threshold. Attack and release times are preset - attack is
@@jcburn1973 thanks! Very clear!
Ok, that was just bad ass.
Dude Replaceable OP-AMP!!!!!! WHAT!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Totally Killer!!!
When is this available in the USA? I just did a search but only found the older version. I had the pleasure of meeting Billy a few years back. Super nice guy and major inspiration on my playing.
It should be, and I found it available to order from 8thstreetmusic.com in NJ.
@@EBSSweden Awesome! Thank you very much. This pedal shall be mine.
Great sounding pedal! Mine will be here in a couple of days! I agree with Metalbass79, this was kind of hard to find. I thought that was surprising, considering the praise the other versions have received. None of the retailers that sell EBS gear that I normally deal with had these. Glad I found one!
@@pbass6811 glad you find one! They are available to order through SamAsh too, for collect in-store or home delivery: www.samash.com/ebs-billy-sheehan-ultimate-signature-drive-pedal-ebsuxxxxx-p
Ilike it
His ultimate signature pedal... Until the next one.
I wonder how this would work in a church band setting.
It is a versatile pedal, so even if you may not go over the top with the distortion, the dynamic changes when you kick in the boost, and the built-in compressor still may be useful. As well as using the loops to add-in other kinds of effects and create layers of texture to the sound seems like something that may work in that setting?

i have put a rat pedal chip in mine and its insane want to talk about bass which i like because i prefer it with more bass
Quick question, the clean knob, does it bring the original signal of the bass and rig, or is it its own clean sound with no processing?
Hi! When you put anything into the input of the pedal, the signal splits into two paths, one that goes through the drive and one that goes clean. The Clean knob is the level control for the clean path. In the end, before the output, the two paths merge together in a mix based on the levels set for Level (drive level) and Clean. The Drive knob is the gain control for the drive engine, so you can use a lot of Drive but a low Level or just a bit Drive but with high Level to create a great variety of distortion and overdrive. Also, if you engage the onboard compressor, that sits at the end of the line and will help merge clean and drive together. So, if you engage the compressor, and engage the pedal, but turn down the drive Level completely, you can use the pedal as a simple compressor as well.
@@EBSSweden That was a bit extensive, but thanks. I was wondering if the clean path was its own clean, or that if it retained the core sound that you set previously (if the pedal was bypassed).
@@TotalEvo7 with the pedal bypassed, the Clean knob is not doing anything to the bypassed signal, so it only sets the clean level when it is engaged.
@@EBSSweden Oh, so you could make the clean sound louder (or at unity) with the effect engaged?
@@TotalEvo7 yes.
Any idea what Billy's personal settings are?
Hi Corey, I think you can go to his website and ask him directly on the email address there. Since he uses the pedal in conjunction with other equipment, it probably depends a little on what else is in the mix and also the musical context he is in. From what I recall (which may be updated and corrected by Billy to match current settings), he use the Lo option on the Frequency switch mostly, and sometimes add another drive to the Clean Loop, just to make the clean tone a little dirty as well, and likes to add a different compressor to the clean loop with a little more control options but to serve the same purpose as the built-in compressor that you can engage on the pedal. More recently, when using it with his Helix unit, he gets those things mentioned above from the Helix and has the signature pedal in a loop to that device. I also know that he has experimented a little with stacking two op-amps on top of each other by soldering them together and then put that in the socket for the op-amp chip under the hood of the pedal (which require no further soldering). Not sure he does that with the new model, but he used to do it with the previous, orange version.
@@EBSSweden thanks for the awesome response!
@@EBSSweden "he has experimented a little with stacking two op-amps on top of each other by soldering them together and then put that in the socket for the op-amp chip under the hood of the pedal"
that's nuts! really cool the pedal will handle that level of boost. the lengths we go to to get great tone... :-)
Wooly bully watch it now
@david504 cant play that.

he forgot the compression switch
Hi Robert. It was all done in one take, so I think he covered a lot of ground anyway. :) However, there's an older video of the first edition of this pedal, so if you want to hear him talk more about the compression, see here: ruclips.net/video/W-VhsE0srBg/видео.html
I recently bought this pedal and hate to say but I am very disappointed with it. Even with clean volume on full and level knob on low, distortion low, and even tone low this Pedal not only lowers the volume of my guitar but low end also becomes completely non existent. Billy talks a lot about his bass drive pedals adding grit and not subtracting the low end from your bass but I find this pedal does exactly the opposite. Unless I'm not using it correctly.
Hi! Definitely sounds like something is not set up properly, or malfunctioning with your pedal. Spontaneously, it sounds like you use one of the loop jacks as the input or output, which could sound like you describe. If you connect through the Input, and to your amp from the Output, you should definitely not lose any bottom and should not need to turn the clean level up more than 12 o'clock to preserve the original tone before adding any drive. Another question, are you using a power supply that gives the pedal the right amount of power? Since it contains a buffer, it needs to be powered with a 9V DC power supply to function.
Uh, oh.
I'm poor. Lol
If you don't love this guy you need some therapy and I hope you get it.
Sounds awful. Bass and distortion is not for me.
And how much is this little wonder?
229 Euro on Thomann. $299 on Sweetwater. :)
