I love Siuan in the books and was SO happy to learn Sophie O. is playing her. But she is a big actress and not as central as Moiraine so I am afraid they will lose her contract to other shows and they are beginning to write Siuan out…We will know for sure in S3. Because that is a Siuan heavy book and if something happens to her. . .

Honestly, im kinda disappointed. I thought the amerlyn seat can at least get toe to toe with a forsaken but she was defeated by Lanfear so easily. I dont understand the tier here. And then there is egwene who has barely got training but then deflecting attacks of Ishamael. So their powers are more innate and the amount of mastery is almost insignificant to their overall stregth?
I only read some parts of the books (wasn;t mycup of tea), so I'm with you on the confusion. I guess being in charge of aes sedai doesn't require to be the strongest among them. Just politics and who supports who. And then the new ladies are much stronger even without training, which, I guess, doesn't mean they'd make for a good leader, but yeah, a bit disappointing to see how the whole concept of aes sedai ends up so powerless against the forsaken.
The Forsaken were some of the most powerful channelers of their time. They also have magic and knowledge that has long since been forgotten. I can't think of a single Aes Sedai more powerful than The Forsaken, more specifically Lanfear.
Lanfear is in the highest tier of raw Power a woman could have (there’s a difference between women and men, since men usually have more brute strength). Siuan and Moiraine, despite being some of the strongest Aes Sedai of their time (at least before the discovery of Egwene, Elayne and Nynaeve), are significantly lower than Lanfear. It has never been said that Siuan was in the same level as the Forsaken, Moiraine in fact said that the power of the Aes Sedai was nothing compared to them. Besides pure strength, the Forsaken also have knowledge of the Power that has been long lost for the Aes Sedai. It has also been said that Nynaeve was stronger than Siuan, and she’s in fact up there with Moghedien in level of strength (in the books at least), so imagine the Forsaken as eight times Nynaeve, plus a lot of knowledge and experience, whereas Siuan is in the same level as Moiraine. Ishamael is in fact in the same level as Rand in the Power, and if we are to consider the levels we know from the books, Egwene shouldn’t be able to stand up against him (she’s between the levels of Moiraine/Siuan and Nynaeve in the Power), but the show and the books differ a lot obviously.

I really wanted to see the full potential of Siuan. I feel like she can do soooo much more than getting thrown away by lanfear.
