Daemon is hands down my favorite character within House of the Dragon, his character is truly beyond words, between his desire for the throne, ambitions and impulsiveness which often leaves him on the worse end of situations yet his love for his brother and as odd as it would be irl within GOT and the Targaryen dynasty his love for Rhanerya just adds so much complexation to his character and makes him hands down of the best in the series.
That is the best part of the whole show. We already know they kill themselves all off for power, we have all seen GOT. These two bring me back every week.

Easily. They’re the only family who’s blood has been infused with dragons’ and that’s why they have a connection to them. Not committing to incestuous practices, means they will lose that ability and thus what puts them on top of the food chain. It’s why Jaime and Cersei are disgusting, but Daemon and Rhaenyra make sense.
I realized this after watching the scene where Otto suggested to Viserys that wedding Aegon and Rhaenyra would be a great solution to their succession problems. My first thought was "That would work but theres no way Rhaenyra will be on board with committing to a 2 year old." and not "Wait did he just say she should marry her half brother?!?".

I will never understand why King Viserys was SO vehemently against Daemon & Rhaenyra when his own parents were siblings and he also literally married his own kids to each other. I mean I get that Viserys didn't think Daemon would be a good match for his daughter but still, so much shit could've been avoided if he had just accepted these two together from the start.
I think it's because Daemon was such a pain in his ass for so long. He wanted his little girl married to someone "better", not realizing Daemon is what she needed the whole time. I actually like Viserys a lot, but man, did he screw up when he married Alicent. Otto Hightower is really the manipulator there. I really hope they kill him off. 😂
Because the whole 7 Kigdoms would go to war against Daemon & Rhaenyra. King Viserys is protecting them by not marrying them. The other great houses want to be close to throne. King Visery wants his family to make dragon riders with other houses to strength the realm for the Long Night.

Those other houses won't have war against them. Events after that proved that actually most noble houses respected their vows to Viserys and his heir.
Daemon is already wed, as stated by the King himself when Daemon asked for Rhaenyra. For them, polygamy would be acceptable, but in Westeros where their main faith was The Seven, polygamy isn't acceptable. By marrying Daemon to Rhaenyra, they'll broke alliance with the Vale and potential war would happen. I guess that's why Daemon killed his own wife and then go back to KL again to have his 2nd chance, but it was too late, since Rhaenyra's wedding was already happening. But I agree with you, they should have married far before this (And Viserys didn't need to marry Alicent)
This is a fictional world and in it Targaryens married brother to sister. In the context of this world it works. Daemon and rhaenayra are well suited to my mind.

He has made all the wrong choices he could in every given decision making. He could have not only put down political unrest by uniting both sides for the throne, he could have formed the strongest military & economic alliance the royal family & kingdom has ever known. Yet,he chose to side with a nameless & powerless Hightower, because his daughter was feeding well into his very weak ego...
I don't think the show is going to follow the cheating storyline. (update they did something worse) Maybe the Mysaria affair with Rhaenyra knowledge because she doesn't want another pregnancy and M can't have children. But the way they set the love between R and D up I think he genuinely loves her and is loyal to her.
VAGUE SPOILERS: I think they are going to make Mysaria an antagonist maybe even replace the shepard with her. But that doesn't matter, really. Rhaenyra doesn't care if Daemon sleeps with other people. It would only bother her if it somehow led to her once again being abandoned - aka, loyalties divided. But you are right, they have dramatically changed the story from the book and I suspect they are not going to go that route.
