I’ve seen a ton of videos on the Gorgon the last few weeks. But this was by far the best, most informative, one I’ve seen. I love mine. I got the green and yellow one shortly after they hit my LHS. Just upgraded the battery to 2s Lipo. And added a cooling fan because I’m OCD 🤷🏻♂️😂 Other than that it’s still box stock right down to the factory brushed motor. This thing takes me back to the 80’s when I had my Tamiya monster beetle. Not every RC has to go 50mph to be a ton of fun!
@@BeforeRobots-ch7gl I got the cooling fan from my local hobbytown. The one I purchased was made by “yeah racing”. Only because they didn’t have an Arrma 40mm cooling fan. But any 40mm fan should work.
Great Review Brother! This is definitely a throw it in the backseat, take everywhere RC Truck! I ordered the same version, for basically the same reason you did,, lol
would you mind posting a link to all the parts you needed for the brushless upgrade? (esc, fan, motor, anything else). I'm new to RC and my son and I have burned up FOUR brushed motors on the gorgon since we changed from the stock NiMH batteries to 2S LiPo's. We didn't realize heat build-up was an issue on the first one. But the other 3 - we've been trying to be careful. The last 2 haven't even made it 1 battery pack even with shutting down the car every few mins to let it cool down (and adding a fan above the motor). I don't know if we're doing something wrong - or if the stock brushed motors just can't handle LiPo's? Or we got the incorrect LiPo's? (They're 2s - and the specs match everything on Horizon Hobby's website for the Gorgon - except they're "80C" instead of "50 C"). Would setting gear mesh a touch too tight possibly lead to burning up a brushed motor? Other than adding LiPo's - and having to reset gear mesh after installing new stock brushed motors - we haven't really messed with anything. We bought stock motors from the local Hobby Shop - not amazon junk. (2) different gorgons - burned up (2) motors each. I can't help but wonder if it's just the design of the motor cavity not letting enough airflow in there? If anyone has any ideas on what we may be doing wrong - please advise. We're newbies. The last run was very conservative with run / shut down times and we STILL burned up the brushed motor in less than 1 battery pack. Thanks in advance!
Dude, I tried to go brushless motor and ESC combo for my voltage truck and messed up with the servo.i want to try that but not sure about it 😮. Vegas Paul here.
Agree with everything you said to the tee , been saying the same things to anyone who listen😂 I look at my rc collection and think was this worthwhile. I just subbed to your channel! Nice video. Question for you. I’m likely going to buy this for my 5 year old daughter. I let her use my Senton 3S BLX on 50% power. However, while she’s getting better at running it she still struggles a bit. If I get her this Gorgon and eventually want to upgrade to 3S BLX components will they fit in this truck? I have extra electronics laying around and I think it would be fun for her once she gets a little better operating it as a brushed version. Thank you for your help.
Yes, great idea! Perfect truck for her. I believe they should fit. The only issue I’ve seen is the wire location on certain motors interfere with the chassis opening. It looks like the Spektrum system will be fine. You will likely need motor wire extensions to reach the esc. Easy to find on Amazon or at local shop.
@@rcilluminati26 Thank you for your response and your time. I will get one for her! The truck seems very durable. I guess for now I could buy an IC3 to EC5 adapter since I already have 2S lipo batteries with EC5 connectors? Is that correct? Or is there a better way to go regarding the battery connectors?
Very fun rc the Gorgan is. Even bone stock handles well for rwd. Jumps well and does like 26mph on 2s battery. Very light rc best looking rc for the value for sure. Only gripe is the thin body and the battery tray is a bit cramped and hard to place the battery and connector in.
@@rcilluminati26 yeah, I’m surprised how well it handles, but I feel like it definitely needs thicker fluid and/or a stiffer spring. It’s awesome otherwise.
Lol I think they have targeted the 80s kids with grasshopper 2 and lunch box now we are all going out to get one of these and putting all the power you want in it to re create are childhood good job arrma what's next
Did you have any issue with your build? I just finished mine and the gears grind when under any kind of little pressure. Even just turning the gears by hand without the motor out it sounds like the gears clicking as if they are not meshing properly however there is no adjustment. All you have to do is drop the rear gear and driveshafts in so IDK what the deal is but pretty upset about it.
I had no issues. I will say, it was tough to align a few things that mount up the chassis. With it being split down the middle, I had to really squeeze it together to get things seated flush. I’m guessing this is your issue. Something by the trans isn’t seated fully.
I still don't get why Arrma didn't give you the option to buy every version without battery and charger, especially the rtb. It's such a waste of batteries.
@@rcilluminati26 hey man I appreciate you replying! I found a wheelie bar direct from Arrma, RCAWD has a more adjustable one in Aluminum I just saw as well!

Amazon. It’s the wheelie bar for the Arrma Big Rock ARA320613. I recommend using longer screws on the lower mounts and if jumping high, maybe even take it off.
The worst part of Arrma Gorgon is the Spektrum Servo s660, is a complete piece of sh!t... I have 3 Gorgons, for me and my kids, all the servos die after 6 batterie charges.
