  • A Covid-19 Day out, Coronavirus Lockdown part 2: day 3.
Here is a silent film from a few years ago The journey is from Barnetby to Gainsborough Central over the "Brigg line". Our route is from Barnetby via Kirton Lindsey and Brigg to Gainsborough Central. This line is kept mainly as a strategic freight diversion route. There is a Saturday only passenger service over the route with trains from Sheffield to Cleethorpes via Worksop, Retford, Gainsborough, Brigg, Barnetby to Cleethorpes and v.v. Hope you enjoy the journey in these troubled times.
Quite rare footage I would imagine and will appeal to a wide spectrum of people.
Like all the older videos Sound recording was not permitted. But we hope it doesn't spoil your viewing too much.

Again, sad to see a once important main line reduced to single line for much of it's length and only used once a week now. When based at Immingham in the 1970s used to work over the line frequently, mostly with MGR coal trains between Immingham and Doncaster and Worksop but with other freight as well. Great video.

Great little run on a line I have never been on. I am hoping to do a UK all line tour some day, but i need to position myself to be at Barnetby on a Saturday morning for a run through Brigg and Gainsborough Central. Thanks for sharing

I prefer single track routes rather than the double track layout but this was another enjoyable journey. 🐨🇦🇺

Brigg no longer has the gates in this video, it was upgraded to lifting barriers earlier in the year

Waited so long for one done on this line! If i knew how ide try get cab videos! This line is so under used!! I was supprised to see the feather signals at northorpe, and am guessing the R route indicator at the starts means retford?

The irony of this video is the lack of livestock in all those fields, and goes to show what the common agricultural policy did to this area that not only would of grown large numbers of crops with its large fields but would of contained large numbers of animals both beef and milk herds. Now visual signs of nothing more than grass.
