When working as a guard at Shirebook in the 70s, When in High Marnham waiting to go thro hopper we use to watch three or even four Vulcans come in low on dummy bombing runs over the top of us, Never thought it would suddenly become a thing of the past sad really nice vlog thanks for the memories.
Many years ago, when I worked in the North Eastern Region HQ, we had an office outing to Sherwood Forest and stopped for our lunch at a pub in Edwinstowe by the railway which was fairly busy with coal at the time. Where this line crosses the ECML there was Dukeries Junction which cloed in 1950.. It had platforms on both lines, but no road access.
Wonder how much life this line will have as a test track? I always thought it was a shame that there was no local passenger service from Tuxford to Mansfield
A great video of a line familiar to me and always fascinated me. However, the chord line at Tuxford, Dukeries Junction lead off to the left facing north to join the ECML. An embankment was built for a south facing chord where the mentioned new chord line is but it was never used.
Good stuff. Better video quality than the Edinburgh one you posted the other day which, despite being a local, I had to abandon! 4K does spoil you for anything else...
Paul yes it is the old Ollerton colliery line above, I spent a year up on that line testing and commissioning the HOPS train for electrification of the Great Western line in 2014, you can still see the piles and concrete foundations we put in along the way
Nice finnish to a great day out ,In nsw the state gov did the same thing closed down most of the nsw country network in a smash & burn strategy now if you want to go to country towns it's in a bus (i hate buses),Why the closed stations on this line as there's lots of house's around the closed stations cheer's bob.
Regarding the lack of sound due to voices not being allowed. Have you tried loading the audio track into Audacity? Any parts with voices should be easily recognised on the waveform & could be easily muted. You can then load the modified audio track into your video editing software & save. I feel that that sound really adds to cab ride videos.
Great video thank you for sharing having driven under the road bridge at Ollerton for many years, Iv always wondered what the track was like along the route. What was the motive power for the rail tour? Best wishes Julian.
It was thank you. I also use the A1 a lot and saw a class 70 on a test train this year cross it. All the years Iv been up north in Yorkshire the first train Iv seen on the line.
Great video! It wouldn’t be too involved reopening Edwinstowe and Ollerton. What railtour was this? I remember doing on in June 1992 that covered much of this area. We even had a photo stop at the old Ollerton station.
I really like your cab ride videos particularly when they feature less travelled/freight only lines. Keep them coming, I'll watch them all.

Awesome video loved learning about those divergent routes from shirebrook signal box
Glad it was helpful!
@@RailMart yes it was thanks I’ve often been on Robin Hood line and wondered about those tracks 😂
Enjoyed it very much. :)
So much so that I went to do East Midlands Coal on TS2121. It has stopped working! :(
One of my local lines. Nice to see a cab ride of it! Brilliant.
Many thanks!
Most enjoyable and informative.
Glad you enjoyed it!
Great drive! Love to see the view with you driving
Glad you enjoyed

At 40.14 that must have been the line from Ollerton Colliery passing overhead before it joined...

Very enjoyable , but excruciatingly slow. Will they just leave those coal wagons on the siding to rust out? Thanks for the videos.
I have just checked on our Rail computer system called TOPS and there are no wagons now shown on the system at Thoresby.
Very enjoyable , but very slow. was there speed restrictions. what was the loco? good video thu.
Why the modern 'Ollerton' name boards on both platforms?
No idea on the answer to that one. Sorry.

Thanks for that. Great idea. I will try that. I have tried to remove them using Adobe Audition without sucess.
Amused by that rubbish bin at 49.19 that has been there so long there's a tree growing in it!

The Great Central Lament. 14/07/2017.
The Ollerton Ogdoad was one rail tour I remembered......!
Shame that you can't get the staff nowadays who can remember to switch on the camera.
Some of these semaphores need oiled or the cable tensioned! 😂
Yes at 15:48 the arm only rises a few degrees from the horizontal when it is cleared.
