Let's go to the new Least Used Station in Lincolnshire ... but to have some fun, let's get AI to generate the script for me as to what to say!
ORR Estimates of Station Usage can be downloaded here : dataportal.orr.gov.uk/statist...
"Just for fun, here's a view from the ground" is my favourite line ever from all your videos.
hi
He needs to now add this to every future video
How kind of Geoff to show us a dog’s perspective to us just for fun
Next: "Just for fun, here's a view from my go pro strapped on my head for a high shot."
hi, nice to see you 🙂
Script:
As you can see, the floor is interesting
As you can see, the bench is interesting
As you can see, the station is basic
As you can see, there is an old ticket machine (Shake your head in disbelief)
As you can see, the field is interesting
As you can see, the bridge is interesting (Wait for a lorry to pass and get wet)
Well, it could have been worse.
Well, it was what it was.
Well, there you have it.
End of line.
The station serves a handful of passengers
The car park has space for a handful of cars
This bin contains a handful of litter
Now let’s explore the station
Now let’s lie down; it is always interesting to see things from a different perspective
Now let’s explore the bin bags; it is always interesting to discover the trash it contains
Now let’s explore the immediate vicinity
Humans are safe for awhile, AI can never replace Geoff Marshall!! His brain is unique - never change Geoff.
Also the AI doesn't have mid-life crisis hair highlights.😁
@@andrewcurtis4568 I thought that might be due to the CPU in his brain overheating!!

@dansheppard2965 I saw that but your description is much better than what I was thinking!

Dear Geoff,
I wanted to take a moment to express my sincere appreciation for your recent video about the least used station in Lincolnshire. Your dedication to exploring and sharing such unique and lesser-known aspects of our region is truly commendable.
Your video not only showcased the station itself but also shed light on its history and significance. It's evident that you put a lot of effort into your content, and your passion for exploring the hidden gems of Lincolnshire shines through in every frame.
I found your video both informative and captivating. It's inspiring to see content creators like you who are committed to promoting local history and culture. Your video not only educated me about this little-known station but also sparked my curiosity to learn more about our beautiful county.
I look forward to more of your videos, and I hope you continue to uncover and share fascinating stories about Lincolnshire. Your work is not only entertaining but also contributes to a deeper appreciation of our region's rich heritage.
Once again, thank you, Geoff, for your dedication and for shining a spotlight on the least used station in Lincolnshire. Your efforts are greatly appreciated.
Warm regards,
Chris
Dear Chris,
As you can see, I am very pleased with your kind comment and I am aware of the amount of time and effort that it must have taken you to write it.
As you can see, I am happy to also kindly respond to acknowledge it, and furthermore should additional add that any comments on future videos that you may decide to leave will also be appreciated.
As you can see, no detail has been left out of this - my reply to you here and now - and I wish you a pleasant day and excellent RUclips viewing experience on all channels that you watch.
With kind thanks, as always.
Geoff.
I appreciate RUclips's contribution to the project by adding the 'show less' (soulless) button at the end.
@@geofftech2 did Ai write this reply?
Chris - Hilarious!
Is is great 👍
The most obvious thing the AI missed is that it didn’t tell me to do passenger figures! So here they are:
Just 68 passengers in the whole year for 2021/22, and even lower … just 10 (Ten!) passengers in 2020/21.
Mmm I wounder why they was only 10 in the 20/21 season 🤔
Something involving the number 19…
It was very short on actual numbers, a handful of car park spaces etc. just what a school essay would say when the author just can’t be bothered to check. Interesting effort but you win hands down.
WRT the car park, I wouldn't be surprised that the number of spaces isn't given on a public page on the Internet hence no way for ChatGPT to know, whereas Geoff, being on site, can just count them.
Crumbs
I don't know why Geoff is complaining about AI. I have AI write all my RUclips comments now, and they all come out Hippopotamus Cheeseburger perfectly.
That was a hilariously wooden script. It didn't even give passenger numbers!!! Beautifully delivered though, Geoff.
it was a great script, read woodenly
Oh yeah, we as a viewer don’t even know what the passenger numbers are.
@@ds_e5202 Is it in the description or link to ?
@@highpath4776not really a great script, especially for a youtube video. Reading along via the transcript function, the script feels like something a local history group might put in a book about the town - positive, generally correct whilst not too bothered with particularities, and a bit waffle-y.
Even a video by someone less generally energetic than Geoff would make it hard for the audience to stay engaged if this script was used.
It’s because GPT doesn’t have access to the latest internet data, so those figures aren’t included
It was like the AI was trying to write a bad parody, so arguably Geoff did a great job following the script by delivering it satirically. I can't tell if that means the AI actually won??
It made him lay down on the ground on a rainy day, so I guess the AI is winning. :)
AI will never replace Geoff.
Ditch the AI,it was awful you sounded like a politician! You can't beat good old geoff
I enjoy that you have to tell AI not to lie, and then it does anyhow.
Though I appreciate the "just for fun, heres a view from the ground", I think the AI was intentionally messing with you.
It felt very weird, you could tell Geoff was holding back a laugh the entire time.🤣
I have to ask, how many shots did you have to throw out because you couldnt get through the script without laughing outright?
I cracked up when the script started talking about how interesting the rubbish in the bin was! 😆
The appropriate receptacle for an "interesting" ChatGPT script, I think.
At 07:58 I was really hoping the AI was going to say "From down here, you can really appreciate the ticket machine" just for comedic effect
It produces anodyne copy that feels like it was written by a civil servant who wants nobody to read it, and confidently asserts complete fictions at random. This concept worked as a comparison because the result is not just misleading, but 75% less entertaining than a video full of Geoff's personality. So we can now fully appreciate the value of Geoff as a producer.
Geoff goes on holiday and explores the abandoned railways between South Korea and North Korea. ChatGPT produces a fun script
and steps on a Landmine.
Geoffrey, you know what you did. And I love it; your job's safe for a couple of months, I'm certain!!
thank you 😉
Interesting to see my Dad’s family’s town
His Dad built the garage that’s at the top of Queen St, now a furniture shop.
My great grandfather ran the forge on the same site from about 1900 until the early 20s
It’s a lovely market town , with the rare thing in Lincolnshire - a steep hill.
Have they fixed the windmill yet? I visited a few years ago after the bakery was featured on the Hairy Bikers.
anyone else been checking to see if they missed a video just encase the notifications had broken 😂 welcome back geoff
AI is a novelty worth trying - glad you aren't planning on doing it again though!
This video superbly demonstrates the soulless nature of AI. Without your enthusiasm Geoff, I would not watch. Keep up your great presentations.
Just back from Kirton and parked by the Church where you did the piece to camera. Nice video yet again, definitely need more trains in this part of England. Some decent towns such as Louth sadly lost the railway here years ago.
I always like seeing a view from the ground, it really is interesting to see things from a different angle. 8:01
There used to be a flat crossing at Retford before it was replaced with the current alignment of a High/ Low Level station. The former is reached by traversing the old station's Coal Drops.
I remember Retford Station as a child as we used to change there when visiting my Geandparents in Worksop. It had an open coal fire in the Up Platform Waiting Room. The station is more famous for being visited by Bill Bryson when writing 'Notes from a Small Island". He thought it was a major town when he viewed the railmap ... it's not.
He did mention that it seemed to be the only town to capture a Russian cannon from the Crimean war single handed....😅
What's with the giant satellite dish near the green? That's what I'm most curious about haha
I cannot lie this is incredible, funniest video ever
At some oint I could hardly breathe from how much I laughed!! Thank you Geoff!!
Oh Geoff, that was so funny. I always love your videos and that you always try and bring us all something a little different. I honestly couldn’t stop laughing, loved the way you read that script. Thank you, as always, for bringing us such brilliant railway videos.
Thanks so much! 😁
@@geofftech2 an absolute pleasure. Thank you so much for your kind reply when you must be so busy. I definitely think you should do another AI style scripted video, the way you read it really was so funny. Really looking forward to where you’re off to next on your railway adventures.
That is an incredibly large name sign for the station on the road entrance, we have seen smaller at other better/less used stations.
What on Earth was that enormous radio telescope doing in the background?
I didn't realize Kirton Lindsey was so close to Jodrell bank....
Thanks for highlighting Kirton Lindsey as the least used station in Lincolnshire! It's always fascinating to learn about these hidden gems on the railway network. Your videos bring attention to places that often go unnoticed, and I appreciate your dedication to showcasing the diversity of our railway system. Keep up the great work, and I look forward to your future explorations! 🚂👍 #RailwayAdventures #HiddenGems #LincolnshireRails

Ooof if that's 'intelligence' I think we are safe. Geoff will always be the king of the train vids👍😄
It's always interesting to learn about the history of the region and the surrounding area!
It was more of an essay (GCSE level) than a script. You could definitely take bits out and Geoffarise it. The reason, and I agree Geoff, it was souless was you were reading the essay and not having a conversation with your viewer. Definitely shunt AI into the sidings and wait for Mr Beaching to give it the chop 😎
That's what it sounds like. Something a primary school kid would write as a project. And. And. And. AI doesn't seem to understand sentence construction so it flows coherently.
I've read far better GCSE level essays, this is more in the 11-13 range & reads more as a series of disjointed and repetitive statements which may or may not be correct.
And it didn't mention that space telescope thingy in the background that I was half expecting Tom Baker to fall off!
It’s the end but the moment has been prepared for
I want to know about the giant satellite dish! Also I'd hoped that the AI had invented a least used station and could come up with one based on the previous set. How cool would that be?
Uplink to the AI master mothership up in the sky. WE’RE ALL DOOMED 😅
I chuckled all the way through I could see how much you loved the ai script. And the traffic 😂
I've suggested a journalist friend watches this. He is interested in the effect AI is having. Your crucifixion of AI is exquisite.
This video was so so good Geoff, and truly demonstrates how important personality and character are! I have also been astonished at how much stuff ChatGPT just makes up. It's got a VERY VERY long way to go! Cheers for another entertaining video!
Very amusing, and also really cool to see you in my home town of Retford! I haven't been back to that station in a while so I've only seen the shuttered shelters on platform 3/4 once and never seen the new walkway between the two sections. Hopefully it'll save on having to explain to people changing that no, really, I know it looks like you've walked into wilderness, you just have to keep going a bit more to get to the other platforms.
I'm curious about the giant satellite 📡 dish over your shoulder when you were on the green - 10:32
Awesome Video Geoff
An holographic Geoff reading an AI generated script at a virtual railway station could be the future
Obi-wan Ke-railway, you're our only hope
nice to see you back Geoff!
That was hilarious! Geoff you are an entertainer (well you know that), but a self parody spoof is marvellous fun. Who'd have thought that such an uninteresting remote rain-swept railway station could generate the laughs you made from it (and AI - whatever that is). I dread to think what AI would make of Waterloo!
All things considered, it's still an impressive script and AI is very fun to play around with. I imagine that it will get better and less soulless as it learns more things (I myself have had it generate some genuinely funny and surprising things), but I do hope that doesn't result in loss of jobs for people of course.
geoff this made me laugh out loud. I needed that. Thank you.
Always interesting to see what's in the bin ... well G did have a regular feature on her videos of "What's in the bin" so the AI wasn't miles off 🤣
That was hilarious, Geoff! Still want to know where the ticket machine is 😜 your job is very much safe!
Great job Geoff!
Yes, Geoff!!! Well done for solidly putting ChatHMV in its place!
The Retford thing remains me of the overground thing at Hackney with 2 Hackney every time i am walking it at Retford i always think the walk at Hackney on overground 😂
Kirton Lindsey needs a train every one hour it would be so good to the tone and the people
Reminded me of Basil Fawlty when he was trying to be polite to the customer he thought was a hotel inspector.
"It is to be found in the south wing, over-looking the courtyard, where there is, of course, ample parking."
Did the Saturday only parliamentary service on that line a good few years ago when the word was it was going to be closed. The tunnel mouth you can see in the distance is castellated and looks really nice, beyond the tunnel is the signal box at Kirton Lime Sidings, which surely must be one of the tallest signalboxes still standing.
Cool. A new video. Been looking forward to it.
I live in brigg and never knew kirton had a station
What kind of litter accumulates at lesser known stations? Rain-water, principally. I was intrigued to learn this.
Priceless!
It'a a self fulfilling prophecy when stations end up so little used when there's one train over day!
Missed the best attraction of all, the Ploughman up on the suitably named Train Gate. Was there last Wednesday, gloriously sunny. ;-)
Looking forward to you doing a fun video of Burberry Street Station, Geoff, and what sort of job AI would make of renaming the stations on the whole tube network.
Like the old saying Why fix it if it's not broken. Keep up the great work Geoff 👍👍👍👍👍
Hey chatGPT, has Geoff Marshall ever done a youtube video about Kirton Lindsey?
As of my last knowledge update in September 2021, Geoff Marshall, a well-known railway enthusiast and presenter on RUclips, had not produced a video specifically about Kirton Lindsey railway station. However, it's worth noting that content creators like Geoff Marshall often explore a wide range of railway-related topics, stations, and lines in their videos, so it's possible that he may have covered Kirton Lindsey or similar subjects in subsequent videos.
To find out if Geoff Marshall has created content related to Kirton Lindsey or any other specific topic, I recommend checking his RUclips channel directly or using RUclips's search feature to look for relevant videos. Keep in mind that content creators frequently update their channels with new videos, so it's possible that there may be more recent content available.
Geoff a great idea thanks for your usual interesting take on things. In one of the locations there was a rather large satellite dish in the background?
I'm from Kirton - my parents still live there. I'd love to travel home by train a bit more but the service is so terrible I never bother. Managed it once... The hour long change at the time at Retford put me off doing it again! Nice to see the place on your video.
This has to be the best Worms Eye View of a platform on a least used station on RUclips ever.
That's an impressive dish.
Always sad when you see another set of tracks slowly disappearing into the undergrowth.
If you build it! They will come!
Towards Cleethropes 1:45 lol
This isn’t bad at all. It’s hilarious and factual. 😂 thanks for giving it a shot
Well, except for the facts that it just made up, like the ticket machine.
@@nitehawk86 No, but there really is a ticket machine. If ChatGPT says there is then it MUST be true.
Your job is unique No one can replace you!
Keep to your own scripting Geoff, the GPTChat sounded more of a primary school child's, show and tell! Cheers for illustrating I'm not missing out on anything AI generated yet! Also thank you for your diligence in showing amazing places.
I was on the train from Inverness to London Kings Cross the other day and the people at my table were taking about AI. Interesting to see it used in the way but I agree, telling your own story is far more interesting.
Thanks for visiting us 😊
As with many other professions which involve interaction with real people, they can only be replaced by AI when the customers are also robots! Glad you made your point, I have been trying to make it in a different area for years.
AI still has a way to go to make it not sound like it was written by a 10 year old lol
oh dear, I have never wanted to click off a video as much as this. The AI really fell hard here. It felt like it was trying to write a londonist Secrets of the London Underground video. Well done for completing it without breaking into laughter.
i need the passenger stats‼️‼️‼️‼️‼️‼️
The reason that the least used station for each county changes is because you visit it, do an article on it, so everyone else subsequently visits it.
Hilarious! What a brilliant idea. And thankfully only some aspects of the AI script remind me of the scripts I write for my own channel 😛
Beautifully delivered a.i never replaced the 1 and only Geoff who does cracking videos
Wonder if he did last a video on last ever long distance hst yesterday
Also surprised it didnt mention the flying club
Love how Geoff hides a middle finger to AI in yet another interesting video, proving that we need him more than AI generated videos. Geoff, like you said videos are only good when you get an interesting story and the audience along with you with a soul and character. You get that right every time and I hope you keep this doing for a long time. Cheers 😊
Interestingly Gainsborough Central at one point had an hourly service for about a year between 2019 and 2020 (maybe a bit longer) between Gainsborough Central and Sheffield. Then when that idiotic virus hit the service was suspended. But still had the 3/w Saturday service including Brigg and Kirton (for some reason didn't get the hourly service). Now I have a feeling the 2/d service at Gainsborough Central, Brigg and Kirton are possibly trail services for an hourly service in the future.
Thank you.
It's tragic to realise that the Brigg line used to be the main line between Manchester and Cleethorpes! Anyone up for St Pancras to Cleethorpes services (stopping after Gainsborough)?!😅
What was the radio dish in the background at 10:30? (@RingwayManchester)
A Beeching Axe to any AI-generated content.
It's lacking GPT (Geoff's professional Touch)
Awww Retford was my home station. Yep them low level platforms are a hell of a sprint if you're late. Never went through Gainsborough Central as a kid because nothing ran through there! So cool to see more trains through it now.
And nothing will replace the real Geoff xD
As I watched, I was thinking of a reply. Then post AI, you said almost exactly what I was thinking! AI is immensely clever. But I wouldn’t want to watch its videos! Geoff - I’m afraid you can’t retire yet!
I really thought the AI had came up with a fictional station in Lincolnshire called "Kirton Lindsey"
Gainsborough Lea Road station didn't have a ticket machine until late 2022, even though it is by far used more than Gainsborough Central which did, so I'm not surprised that Kirton station doesn't. (GLR is operated by EMR.) Also, Central has a much bigger car park than Lea Road.
Yes, seeing as Gainsborough has two stations, it's weird that the one that is very little used is named Central.
@@rosiefay7283 It used to be the other way round. Central is behind the old Marshalls tractor factory.
That station layout looks very similar to Worcestershire Parkway: two lines happening to cross in the middle of nowhere, so someone built a big wayside halt out of scraps of security fencing with an ages long walk in X Y Z directions such that it might as well be two stations.
It has a great sense of humour, though - it did make you lie down in the wet! ;)
Laughed a lot, but not about the script, laughed about your reaction about this, err, soulless stuff 😄😄😅
I'm testing these days some AI based image editing. What should I say? Never saw so much sh** at once.
So I am glad we are getting more original Geoff Marshall scropts in future 😎
I might show your video to my line managers at work who think ‘ai is going to be a huge opportunity for us’…
I adore this episode, especially the AI mansplaning of the elements of your schtick.
