Honestly I wanted to try Altis life and started moving cargo in a big truck. First kid rolls up on a quad shoots my tires out, I get out put my hands up. He desyncs away, shoots me and then says "I said put your hands up bitch". 0/10 do not recommend will stick to milsim.

Milsim is literally the best you can do with this game, although it won't work without mods since the basegame is rather casual at handling medics and wounds.

Campaign was a bit short though
+Red Wolf but compared to the base game campaign, there was a lot more put into it and there's always the chance that they will add more missions
Operator Kev Not really. They made a lot of platform upgrades, and they display them in the campaign. The coop part was nice, would love to see it ported to the main game, but it wasn't such a long one. I'm not saying no work was put in, but the total playtime is maybe 3 hours maximum.

More put into it, 6 campaign missions
Than the base campaign, 15+ total missions and you get to roam (patrol) the first 2 stages to survive scavenging weapons and ammo plus even 2 endings.
"Lot more put into it" Ya gata tell us how lad. And more missions? The story's wrapped up. If they add a whole new story you can expect to pay for that.

I got this on Steam this year, based on videos and good reviews but seeing this video makes me want to buy it again! :) Arma 3 is such an awesome game, what I admire the most about videos like these is that you could recreate pretty much all of it in the Eden editor.
Still one of my favorite games ever!

everybody moaning on about the price.. but how much did you guys spend for all those other AA titles ? And now its "just a map" ! but how much hours did you play games like far cry 4( which are very expensive) compared to a new arma map?? :o
+ it's not "just a map". It has new vehicle which can't be added with mods (like the VTOL). A Multiplayer PVE +PVP Campaign wish can be played also played offline in the case of bad connection.
New Gameplay mechanics. New Guns (wish isn't that interesting exept the 5,56 and 7,62 guns).
I've already put 20 hours im the Sneak preview (Wish only has a quantum of the full version).
There is just one negative thing.... they changed the epic live battle main menu with relaxing tanoa vacation videos.

I was playing Arma 3 Apex for few hours and I gotta tell all of you - IT'S FRAKIN AWESOME!!! It's far more realistic - the terrain, objects, vegetables, trees, even crickets in grass - all that is beautiful, it LIVES, it makes me happy just watching that. Now it's a little bit harder to play, becouse it's harder to see enemy, the camouflage is more effective. But for me - it's GREAT. If I may say - it's the milestone in Arma series. Great job, Bohemia. Great job...

ShadowFlipsy im actually watching how the CPU and GPU is used.. both is at 50-65 Percent of use most of the time... Like wtf.
ARMA uses 32 bit coding only which heavily limits the power usage. i think the 32bit cannot use more then 4 GB RAM over all CPU and GPU usage 30-50% CAP. But some background activities even on powerful PCs can cause problems i play with 40-60 FPS and sometimes drop to 10 FPS duo to background activity where my HDD was tring to transfer some data
So why isnt a 64 bit client an option for the devs?
Sadly this i cannot answer. i was expecting the VR4 engine to be 64bit but well here it is 32bit. With the 64bit not only performance will be super good but also alot more stuff can be done and ther goodies

Yes it is. When playing Apex Protocol i had fun with running through the jungle and then me and a CSAT Viper operative bumping heads and i mean it, we ran into each other. And i after wards got shot down.

Yes. They recently improved AI behaviour to be more realistic when hiding.

Looks like a way better setting than Altis. Altis is nice but i'm just not a fan of it. I'd like to see some woodland forest settings and older more traditional gear.
Jungless are awesome, however you will be equiped with more modern gear
The CUP mods (can find on the steam workshop easily) are only a few GBs and basically add a whole new game-worth of content. Specifically, they add all the old stuff - and it’s really detailed as well. Full German, British, US Armies and everything. In very high fidelity. It’s really impressive. And you get the old Arma 2 maps, with more forest and a more temperate environment.

The game uses your CPU more, GPUS don't really help as much.
A better gpu will still give much better fps while running with higher settings.

They are in the actual game. Go into the editor, spawn a character and preview, press esc then animations. They are there specifically for campaigns and cinematics only.

What do you mean? What content that comes in Apex did you want at Arma 3 release?
LongHairedHuman Pretty much all of it since the launch had barely any content at all. Servers had to rely on community made content.
Why should this map be part of the basegame?
ArmA 2 barly had more in Vanilla either. Admited, ArmA 2 had much more civ stuff, but besides another small faction with retextured vehicles, there wasnt much that should have been included.
ArmA 3 offers pretty much everything in the base game required. There is nothing missing.

The base game is (as we all know) a military simulator, but still there's lack of technologies features in the vehicles. Weapons and attachments (the "non-free" DLC filled this), character equipment that had only 1-2 standard gear for their represented faction. Even games that are not focused on this type of genre, and has a smaller development team with far less income due to lower sales, has more content (and sometimes even more quality). Developing production time was also faster.
To be honest, they're in a mental state that many economical successors has these days: "It doesn't matter what we do, how little we do, the popularity of our product will result in massive sales and we never need to worry about money". These guys has earned many many millions of dollars for a job that many others can do better. If they released the DLC for free, not even that would be enough. The game is a sandbox type of game, and yet there's not enough content to explore with.
There are reasons why many veterans have left, barely anyone in my 67 player clan plays this anymore, even our modders left because of how horrible the engine is. We thought that a new modern game with much better development tools and graphical engines, we'd see a change of improvement, but no. I was real happy when I saw the announcement, but now I really regret contributing to this greedy company.
ArmA's real problem is that there is no competition for it. Usually, you have several games that fill up a genre. There are actually several games that fill up the genre of realistic shooters that are not fogiving at all.
Insurgency, Red Orchestra 2, Verdun, Squad, Project Reality just to name a few. But what all of those games lack is the sandbox part.
If you would look for similar games like ArmA, then I doubt you would really find something that could come close to the sandbox possibilities that ArmA has. If any game, then Squad / Project Reality. There is just no real alternative when you would look for a game that lets you design the scenarios like that, and that is the real issue here. And in the end, it is actually the fact that you can do pretty much anything you want with this game without big restrictions.
I would also not call them greedy. Bohemia has done a lot to improve the game since it's release, and I have to say that ArmA 3 is coming along MUCH better than ArmA 2 ever did. Let's all remember ArmA 2's release. Saying that it was "bad" would already be an underwhelming term for how horrific it was. It took several patches and the release of Operation Arrowhead to make it the game so many people started to really enjoy.
I'm pretty sure that the engine is doing pretty well at what it is supposed to handle, but a complete revamp would really help the franchies to actually grow and stay alive. When I just think about the AI....
On the one hand, they are able to move freely through the terrain, sorta take cover behind stuff, are able to use pretty much every vehicle you let them mount up ect but their driving is horrible (worse than ArmA 2, atleast you could rely on them reaching their destination without wrecking their vehicle midway) and the infrantry AI is extremly passive, often not moving far in combat, making them very easy targets.
I could keep going and tell you a lot of things I like about ArmA and why it is this one of it's kind game while on the other hand I could probably name you an equal amount of negatives that prevents it from being as amazing as it could be. The DLC policy being one of them.

bardghost so ive heard. But that still wont fix por servers. Thats why some people get 5fps in KoTH 40 player servers. Its not BI on that though, its the people that own the servers... But im glad that they are finnaly going to fix that for the most part, but im sure mod developers wont because the new engine will f*** up their mod base
Casey Ledford I'm not sure if it will do anything to the modders tbf, As far as i'm aware the whole thing about them moving to cry engine was a load of bollocks (I may be wrong) and it should be an improvement on the existing engine by adding 64 bit support and DX12.. Plus some other stuff
bardghost i saw a tweet from a modder hoping that the change isnt to drastic, cause some code/scripts in their mods in the old engine might have to be changed in the newer one. But who knows, im probably wrong lol. And they needed 64bit for quite some time now, but im actually glad Apex came out before a performance/stability overhaul, cause it'll make Apex that much better.
Casey Ledford I'm not sure on that one, On one hand it would be nice to have had it before, but that wouldn't let us see a difference between before and after. I personally think BI have got a good engine, It just needs some upgrades (Same ones I said above) and few little tweaks and it'll be good, I don't see a need to move to something like cryengine. I know what i'm suggesting is not close to being as simple as it sounds though.

I wish there would be a game with such a big map that you need to scout out your oponent with a squad. They have to plant a bomb in a giant facility, and the other team sends scouts to watch over the base. They could have a thermal and security cameras, and they have to use teamwork to win
