"Could you imagine how I'd turn out if my dad loved me that much?" & "Bobby if you weren't my son, I'd hug you." are by far the saddest things I've heard him say.
TY for the mention! Your video was fun to watch, and no, I don't think you were stealing LOL. I was shocked too when I found out the Lao was mostly made up. Granted, I should point out how some people say certain words are true, like Kahn's nephew calls Arlen "Ay-len" because there's no r in Lao, but 98% of the time, it's fake. I still try to justify it to myself as the show's from Hank's perspective and while he might know a few Spanish words because of people like Enrique or just living in Texas in general, he's never heard Lao, so he - and by extension the audience - hears a series of vowel clusters. Plus Mike Judge speaks fluent Spanish, so that probably meant not as much work for the crew. Sorry if this was long, point is, glad you loved the video, and great rankings!
07:11 My personal favorite joke from KOTH is: Hank - "They could've rigged that test so that anyone could look like a genius!" Peggy - "Anyone Hank?" *cut straight to Luanne on the computer* "I'M A GENIUS!" 😂😂
Hank's funeral dream was my first exposure to the concept of death. I remember watching the coffin swirl into the dirt and feeling terrified at some implication i didnt understand. It was also the first episode I saw. I was 3 or 4. great show.
Keeping Up With Our Joneses has been my favourite episode of the series from its very first airing. By now I've probably seen them all at least 50 times, and it still cracks me up every time.
Honestly, the Futurama pilot lost me initially. It was only years later when reruns aired on Adult Swim that I truly gave it a proper chance. Definitely love the series, but I do stand by my initial reaction that the pilot was weak. Now don't get me wrong, the animation was beautiful from day one, but the story and humor weren't quite there for me with that first episode. Now, on the subject of animated comedies that managed to rope me in with their pilot, I will give props to: Bob's Burgers (hell, my favorite joke of the entire series is in that first episode), Rick and Morty (say what you will about recent seasons, but it absolutely started strong), Invader Zim (this series was consistent from day 1), Archer, and Metalocalypse (I had no interest of even giving these last 2 shows chances, but I happened to catch them when they premiered, and I was an immediate fan of both).
You summoned me? Yes Peggy’s Spanish is in fact actual Spanish, very bad Spanish, but Spanish none the less. I actually think the fact that it’s bad makes it hilarious so I agree the Laotian would’ve been better if they went the extra step and made it real Laotian, even if I wouldn’t have known.
Your videos are so nice, chill and a nice refresh from the other people who make video essays on KOTH, I love you videos man. I listen to them in the background whenever I work on my fursuits/art. Can’t wait to see more!
Hank Unmentional Problem is one my favorites. Kind took a while, but it really telling about Hank problems and how he overcomes those problems. Hank can't allow emotional vulnerability and has to be in control. So all those chronic tension problem from his narrow urethra, socializing with his friends/family, and work. So Hank opening up emotionally and trying new methods outside of the traditional method is a great growth in character and sometimes it helps solve his problems or seeing a new perspective. I think Hank finally doing his business in the bathroom only happen when Peggy accepted Hank has to live his life, even if it might mean it's a short life. Hank gets emotional and opens up to Peggy because he loves/appreciatez his wife wanting him around and feeling her love for him...which loosen Hank up to go to the bathroom finally.
Just a theory, but maybe the "Laotian" gibberish was poking fun at our inability to recognize it as gibberish. I legitimately thought they were speaking Laotian.
@@wh3elsonSpanish is very common in American schools, plus a lot of Spanish can translate region to region, whereas Lao/chinese/korean/etc. differ more from each other
@@MrMusicfreak95 again it doesn’t explain why Spanish isn’t gibberish, and the Laotian is. In fact, in later episode the Chinese that is in some episodes are also ISNT gibberish. I suspect that KOTH creators recognized their mistake, but bc they already started the gibberish with Lao they kept it that way
I'm already excited for the season 2 videos! Season 2 is when the show really takes off and delves deeper into the characters' personalities. The animation also steps up a few notches.
And last thing I’ll say, Order of the Straight Arrow is one of my personal favorites. The nostalgia feeling of watching this episode, it’s what made me start loving the show when I was like… 4. So I’ll always love it. Especially now with my full understanding of how bad Cultural Appropriation is, and showing that Hank and the boys just… tastelessly water down and destroy the story John Redcorn told them, and it’s shown how the Traditions and stories of natives are ruined when it’s taken by a bunch of ignorant (not even meaning to be offensive or insensitive, just too ignorant to get it) and it’s so early on, so long before the conversation even left the ground. I give it a lot of weight because of this.
I love Season 1. It’s not the best, but it does a good job of showing the characters off and the world they live in. Great set up for future seasons. Keep up the great work man, take care!
A good ending for the constipation episode: At the end of the episode, Peggy accepts that she can’t force Hank to do anything, and she would rather him live his life how he wants to. And in accepting this, she gives him a massive bear hug that squeezes a fart out of him and send him running to the restroom. Peggy literally loves the shit out of him .
I’m actually surprised they rehashed the problem with Hank’s anger later on. At least they weren’t as bad in that department as later episodes of SpongeBob, though.
