I'm more versed in your non-collectible Tabletop Board Games, and the Stacking + Transparent Cards remind me a LOT of the game "Gloom" (also released in 2005). I'd say "interesting coincidence"!! ..but "Cranium Zigity" (2004) employed this first (UNO Splash also came out 2004, although didn't have any Stacks mechanic). Someone must have done the whole "transparent card" thing before (for something else non-game related even?) if even Mattel was using it! From then, there have been a few good games using it, like "Mystic Veil" (2016). Would love to find the history behind these ideas!
It's great seeing all these old games again. Looking forward to Magi Nation, One Piece and Myths & Legends ccg throwbacks which no doubt are on your list.
Would it be possible to post deck pics/deck list of the two decks you guys played please? Just started playing and I'd love to see your builds. Cheers from the UK!
@@mathbridge3201 Super easy to pick up cards on eBay, Facebook or BGG. If you live in the US, Hill's Wholesale Gaming online has a lot of sealed and very cheap product.
@@mathbridge3201 In my opinion, yes. Ebay UK you can buy a starter deck for €12. You can buy a whole booster box for $18 from the US, but it's just the shipping that would be expensive. To put it into perspective, I bought 15 pre-opened BOXES (A mixture of starter deck boxes, base set boosters and the first and second expansion) for €100 from Netherlands off of BGG. Literally all the cards I need with the exception of a few rares that I'm hunting down to complete my playset. Just hunt; message people on social media. Don't believe the hype of the recent spike of "Dead TCG" as a collectable asset. There was a lot of Hecatomb cards printed and unfortunately there's no global scene that supports gameplay (it really does seem to be DEAD) ; there's no reason for it to be expensive. Good luck!
@@scathezombiestu Thanks man! After a little research i bought 15 sealed booster packs for 35€. Do you think i'll be able to assemble at least 2 playable decks? Not competitive, just playable to have some fun with a friend or two. Game seems very fun and as an mtg and duel masters player i like that it feels like a blend of the two.
I am glad you guys played this one. I heard about it a lot, but never bought any. Back in that day I was a penniless tabletop player and was maxed out on games that I was invested in (that's still pretty true, actually...). The concept of stacking minions to craft a unique minion is definitely great, but I think the volume of keywords is a bug. I imagine the materials quality drove the price up, too. Still, so much potential!
Played this game a lot when it came out. It was pretty fun. I laughed when you got sett and said he sucks. I used to run a red grey deck with sett and I won most of my local tournaments.
From what I understood the bottom Special Effect of the cards trigger if the Colour of the Text Box matches the Triangle that it covers! not if you play a Green Card with a Red Text on another Green Card, since the Text Box (Red in this example) would have a Green Triangle. So to trigger an Effect on a RED Text box the card would have to be played on top of a Red Card since it's triangles would be Red to match the Triangle... right? Still learning the game.
The new Digimon TCG plays around with stacking up creatures and inheriting abilities but its more about putting bigger creatures onto smaller creatures not stitching similar sized creatures together. They don't carry strength over but they all have two text boxes, one for its own effects and another for effects that only matter when inherited.
Just want to correct something you're doing incorrectly. The Conditional Ability. The color must match the color of the bottom cards triangle, NOT the top cards triangle. From the Rule Book: conditional ability: An ability on some minions that takes effect when you play such a minion (from your hand) onto another minion of the correct doom. If the conditional-ability text box of the minion you’re playing matches the trigger color of the minion under it, the ability happens. Most conditional abilities are one-time effects (enclosed in these symbols: « »), which are optional and happen only if the minion is played from your hand. If a conditional ability has a continual effect, though, it happens regardless of where the minion came from.

@@MjrLeegInfidel yeap. Sadly there is, as I understand, no convinuent way to cut out the begining, so it take some time. But, again, almost everytime intro is 30+-3 minutes long, so when you know that - its not so hard to skip.
I can see everything they do. Millennium eye. I love this game .. good switch on decks... priffle first 😮

Great content as always. FYI the SET god only prevents blocking the turn it comes in. Bought this after seeing the tease on last Thursdays throwback.
Well why doesn't it say that?!

Plastic was better, cuz of spills on cards, no card sleeves, and part of game play
First game is just like Atomic Chess of CCG. You just send little dude, he collide with other dude and BOOM - they just blow up.
Reeeeeeally wish the intro waits were edited out lol
It is gonna be edited - you could check out other stream recordings and see, that there is no intro already.
