After he says, "My solution...," the long pause with the gun on the table is very powerful to me. As a therapist myself, I know the power of silence. Like many, I used to avoid it, even fear it.
An unplanned period of silence is one of the most powerful things one can engage in. How a person reacts is very important to knowing someone. Intimacy can occur there. So can neurosis.
He goes silent after saying the words that he is offering a solution. He shows a gun. Loads the gun. Even then his solution is vague. He talks about children and at that same moment as he mentioned children and school, the camera 100% focuses on the gun. That, he left for your to explore. He doesn't need to connect the dots, he left that for you.
Also, for those wondering, I believe he has been telling you his solution from the very start of the story. Before the kid appeared, he was awoken from his indoctrination and noticed he was part of a money game and was blinded to it. The rest was about a kid whose father taught him the essentials and the rules of unbridled capitalism. Pure form capitalism with no moral constraints, community building or, "all boats rise," mentality.
In short: we teach our children different, they will change the futue.
I had the conversation with my 12 year old son. He's exceptionally brilliant in mathematical problem solving and that all anyone sees him as. I will work until the end of time to give him more than that. People, caring, using his gifts to create connections with humans. No matter your gift or earning potential, you only need one cookie from the cookie jar. If you grab a second, hand it to the next person.

My goal is to be rich enough to provide my wife and kids a good life. I know I'll never be a millionaire because if I ever had anywhere near that much, I wouldn't be able to not help the people around me who are struggling. No one becomes a millionaire much less billionaire while caring about those around them.

@biosec9361 this makes me think back to that poignant line in money game part 2 "swallow all your morals they're a poor man's quality"

    • @GhostWatcher2024
      @GhostWatcher2024 7 месяцев назад +3

That particular sequence was a master class in building tension and suspense....
He literally ends a line with the word "tension", and then leaves the next line unresolved, both lyrically and musically. And then the long pause where he very deliberately shows us the gun (nothing good here) and meticulously folds his coat. And then draws out the tension more by taking his time loading the magazine as he expounds some more, and then the blatant disregard for trigger discipline and gun safety to make us mentally squirm a bit, ans we know where this is going and we're powerless to intervene. It's a very Hitchcockian use of suspense and tension.

That's my favourite part (well one of the favourite parts that i have in this artwork)
Because what is the solution? Ending it? Seems legit to me.
Because it is a sh.t show... we know better.. we can do better (us, humans), but i need all of us to work on the same thing, as long that doesn't happen.. yeah.. there is no hope. He explains it very well in his lyrics. I am thinking and feeling the same, he expresses it better.
I have hope for my own life, but for everything else. No..
      --
I like to think, he expresses what most us are thinking and feeling, but i fear it's a minority.

This song really gets to me. My dad was the same way. Nothing I ever did was good enough. Even on his death bed, the last thing he ever said to me was, "Stop smoking and lose weight." The result was, I got fatter and smoked more. It took me years to get past his negative influence. I still smoke, but I've lost the weight, for myself. Great reaction.

I remember one time I took a Pack and threw it far away when I was 10 he got mad at me and stopped talking to me for 2-3 day's while my grandmother and my aunts applauded me, He started smoking when he joined the Army as a young man. Not to mention they were really cheap at that time. Sorry for that rant thought I'd give my 2 cents on smoking I apologise If it was an inappropriate time for that 😅

Something that seems to get missed I feel is when Jimmy's dad dies, not only does he lose the person he looked up to the most he will also now never be able to get the one thing I think he sought more than all the money and power which is what made him spiral out of control the most and that is he will never hear his fathers approval. Hearing something as simple as "You've done good." can mean more than all the gold in the universe to many people when it is from the right person.

I'm a middle-age woman who was raised by a very domineering mum (my dad died when I was 6). Last week was the 30th anniversary of my mother's death, in '93, and I spent the day ruminating on the fact that she wouldn't be proud of me now, I'm disabled, I don't work, I have mental health issues, so far from the highly academic corporate slave I used to be, earning high and climbing higher. So it's honestly not just men that have this, although I know it's far more prevalent for men to be told to 'be a man' about things. Ren always blows my mind. How he managed to drop this particular song just as I was dwelling on the past a little and wishing I'd made some different choices along the way. I love your reactions for your mental health perspective, thank you. A couple of new things clicked for me as I watched this, so genuinely, thank you. x

My parents checked my grades online every single day from 6th grade until I moved out. Anything less than 95+ was a failure to them. I never made less than A's with a couple B's. I still felt like a failure. To this day 10 years later every time I'm not perfect and achieving 100% I feel like I've failed. I have everything someone my age could hope to have, and feel like I'm failing. Ren's music is so powerful, this song wasn't spot on to my situation, but I still related to every bit.

@robmarar the bags always brought me to mind of images of hostages, with bags over their heads and ropes around their necks. Since everyone in the story is wearing one, maybe it represents we are all hostages of the money game. It’s just a thought.

The end to me echoed MG1 - he is doused in accelerant you see the lighter spark- but the screen goes to black before he is engulfed. We see the gun to his brain- hear the click but are spared the impact of the shot.
I love the call back to Mine Mine Gimme…
The imagery of Jimmy ducking under the handshake as he becomes less honorable and more underhanded ( literally). Brilliant.
The rain at the end - rain rain rain rain….

On the day Ren released Money Game 3, he released another video of the actual "Money Game.. game". The winners of Ren's game were given tickets to go to an island, search for a location on the island... that takes about 40 mins of the video.. them talking, walking ... Then they find the Pig Man... he holds a shovel. The guys dig and find two brief cases... one the locks open immediately, the second one, was locked and Pigman has the combo. BUT..they have a choice to make... take the first briefcase that is unlocked that is filled money!!!! LOTS OF MONEY... or.. burn the money and Pigman will give them the combo to the second case.... Welcome to the MONEY GAME!!! I won't tell you what they chose!!!! Go watch the vid. MAKES SURE TO WATCH THE END.

It was literally livestreamed as part of the lead up to the song and album release :D All this was after an entire week of riddles which needed people across a lot of different platforms using a variety of techniques from cracking computer code to interpreting artworks, to come together to solve each one. I just got fired from a field where I work with special needs kids. The only way to make more money in that field is to go back to school and get a degree and do all that stuff. I wasn’t sure if I really wanted to do that job anymore, and the fact that I got fired as amicably as I did was really telling to me that my heart was not in that field anymore. So I got full-time work with this part-time job that I was doing on the side, so I made that work, but I was immediately met with this existential crisis that I would no longer be able to impact the world like I did in my other job. I am absolutely tired my self-worth to that job, and I didn’t even know it.

He uses that to try to make the world a better place - for the individual who finds relatability in his art and for the masses who need to come together to make changes as a community. Since you are a therapist, I’d like to know your thoughts on lyrics. Specifically, what I’ve found to be very depressing lyrics in western music (UK, US, Canada, etc). I’ve been into rock music for many years and think today’s music is depressing. They all seem to be about their own depressions, addictions, dead friends, etc. In contrast I’ve been listening more and more to songs from Japan. No it’s not because I don’t understand lol. Many songs have CC. They talk about struggle but also about fighting it and being better. My now all time favorite rock band Band-Maid has many songs like this. Please check out their new song Shambles. ruclips.net/video/lf0mQOiu8J8/видео.html
I’m not saying all Japanese music is positive but they still seem to have some sort of light at the end compared to western music. I actually love Ren and somehow even though he talks about serious stuff I don't feel down after listening to his stuff.

@@stevenmeyer9674I think his father's voice/ shadow/ influence in his mind was stronger than the actual man. So in a way his father never died, lived on in his mind. The cognitive dissonance from "knowing" his father was gone, but not ever "feeling" like his father was gone caused his spiral. He only wanted to make his father proud, that was his driving force, but he could never get his father's approval.

I don't intend to be rude, but more so poignant. I don't know how you would expect to react, in a context of understanding, by decoding imagery in a song that's on the third chapter, when you hadn't, as far is i can see, reacted to the first 2 chapters.
Does one often skip straight to the end of a book, then publish their impressions?
Particularly in your space as a therapist, seems a bit odd.

If he did, I couldn't find the video anywhere. Based on his lack of understanding on certain things that would have been addressed in the previous videos, I'd say no, he hasn't seen them.
Perhaps the title of the video (part 3) escaped him, but it comes off like mailing it in, for the sake of cranking out another reaction video.

@@Cdaddy78 Actually it was my doing. This was on a live stream. I've been putting him in front of different versions of Ren since a few of the other Sick Boi tracks hadn't been his scene. I had just put him in front of Big Push then he mentioned hearing a new one from Ren had come out. So I put in as a request. I realize I should have put him in front of the other two first. However, I've seen plenty of excellent reactions from others who haven't seen the full series. Tom focuses more on mental health issues than the overall theme. So, though that part may have eluded him without the other two, I think he was able to tap into some good issues here. But if you feel the need to blame, blame me. He was simply fulfilling a request. I didn't feel like he was phoning it in at all and I saw it live.
