"Oh, rain, rain, rain, rain. a storm it comes our way." This line was sang in MG & MG2. That was why it rained on Jimmy in the wheelchair, a big storm was coming his way.
And the first one? A saint into a sinner, a child into a killer with his finger on the trigger' sounds like Jimmy
Also from Part 1:

But now those bits of paper twist hearts, make slaves

His finger on the trigger of a money game
And here, Jimmy the perpetual child seeking approval from his father, presses on the trigger of a money game.
Ren just released a video "back on 74/message in the bottle" it's fantastic and worth checking out. It is truly a genre basher though... he is Ren... no genre can hold him.
Yep, better than most tv series/movies and less than 10 minutes!
Ren did write most of the piano parts (and the strings), but the opening sequence was (or at least very heavily borrows from) Grieg's "Piano Concerto in A minor, Op 16."
The chorus in 1 and 2, "rain, rain, rain, rain, a storm it comes our way...."
It was Grieg's concerto. Not borrowed, just his interpretation, which was not bad at all.
@@LeSaff Interpreting part of another's piece to include in your own piece is most definitely borrowing. It's not a criticism, it's just a fact.
@@67goat There's not much difference in what we say but:
To me an interpretation is the way you play it (faster, slower, more dynamic...)
"Or at least very heavily borrows from": looks like more you take a part to integrate it in something different.
But I'm not English mother tongue and I admit easily I am wrong.
@@LeSaff Yeah, that's called borrowing. Some of the opening while he transitioned toward the end before he was replaced is not the note sequence of the concerto, hence heavily, not completely borrowed.
Wait till you see how well he looks in his most recent video. He looks like a different person.

Love the reaction. A bit of trivia, there was a lot of pressure to get that last shot in the rain on the first take as Ren only had one suit in which to film.
Ren's and Sam's most ambitious video. First video they ever made with an actual budget. This could be a movie it's so good.

Reference to RAIN RAIN RAIN.
Ren had to teach everyone including the strings. The piano player has an earpiece to stay on Q. The only cut is behind the wheelchair to remove the lapel mic.
The guy who caught Ren in the wheelchair is the same guy who wheeled Ren out in the wheelchair at the beginning of "Hi Ren" while wearing the pig mask. He wears the pig mask in almost every Ren video actually lol. His name is Viktus. He's one of Ren's boys and he's also a rapper.

I love how Ren in his one-takes leaves in all of the folio sounds. No editing at all.

So amazing! The camera work, the sound design, ren writing it and turning it into a stage play essentially, all the little amazing details and attention to detail..being shot live with just 1 or 2 cuts...there's just not much out there like Ren.
Yes, the fall took several rehearsals! Watched two BTS filmed by Wolf Johnson for this MG3, and it was really fascinating. Great work from everybody involved, and an awesome performance by Ren. His biggest budget so far, because they needed a lot of lights overhead, and extras, and a steady cam.
The mirror and rain are in reference to the “rain rain rain rain, a storm it comes our way…. Point the mirror at ourselves, we’re all part of this old money game”.
The “water” in the first one was actually a mix of veg and olive oil to look like gasoline 🖤
Yes the rain 🌧️ could also be the previous lyrics.

Ren didnt dump water at the end of the first 1 lol.. Surely you realised it was petrol and he was setting himself on fire?? I mean it was obviously NOT really petrol for the shoot but it was meant to be. And whatever the stand in was wasnt water either- it looked too thick with a film- he used something with an oily appernace.
But anyways this was NOT a reference to that bit in p1 its just part of this story- he comes home drunk and soaking wet in his wheelchair etc.
I think Ren said he used olive oil to simulate the gasoline.
I think it was a reference to part 1.

Ren, representative of "the establishment", Protected from "the rain" (the poncho), controlling "The population, who play along (literally) without seeing.
(Interlude for topical comment.... Peak Trump..... as Ren says in another song, "it is what it is")

"There's no Left, there's no Right, in the middle we sleep"
Politicians, all part of the same self serving club, working to maintain their system, while "we" fall for the façade of "ping pong politics" [my description] voting for "the other guy" and with the establishment above them.

Then, "We" gain sight.
The establishment then had a problem.
Burn "Us"?
Or
Systemic collapse?
"The storm".
Off comes the poncho (the protection)

Trying to remember, did you react to the Tale of Jenny and Screech?
If not, and I will check, you must react to the full version. I know it's 13:31 long, but it won't seem like it.
There is also a part of me that wants you to expand your knowledge of Ren and react to him with hid band The Big Push. Great busking band with a Beatles vibe to them. I highly suggest Wade in the Water/Nina Simone/Trouble So Hard.
Excellent vocals and guitar playing, Ren is on the bass for this.
But no matter what, keep going down the Ren rabbit hole, there is so much more.
Okay, you did do Jenny and Screech, I remember it now and will rewatch it. But please do some Big Push, you will noy regtret it.

Ren is OCD and has ADHD. Therefore he pays strict attention to detail. He knows exactly where he needs to be and where everyone else needs to be.😊
He performed the chorus of 1 and 2 with the rain at the end. Instead of singing it.
