+Gus Guti It requires more effort if you shift to a bigger front gear. I've replaced my front pulley with a smaller one and have much more torque and lower top speed. Jump on your bicycle and they it and you'll see I'm correct.
this pully swap use's a 30 tooth pully from a 1300 Vstar part # 3D817651-00-00 some of you where asking now you know, I have done it and it makes a big differance
Nice video. Going smaller on the front pulley or larger on the rear lowers the final drive ratio which improves low end torque while slightly reducing top speed
Hey man, the video is nice, but . . . I believe your thinking as far as the effect of the smaller pulley is opposite of what you are trying to achieve. The larger the pulley, more belt pull will happen with 1 full turn of the engine shaft, hence more torque (I believe you said more low end torque in the video). It is the same as shifting a bicycle. Did I understand you wrong as far as what you were trying to achieve? Peace!
Hi - good job. How many teeth does the pulley you use have? I want to put another smaller pulley with fewer teeth (the original is 30 teeth), could anyone advise where to buy? The original transfer is too long. Thank you
He's explaining it correctly. Less teeth means smaller pulley which in turn gives you more low end torque= Faster acceleration but loss in top speed.

Alot of 950 riders are doing the exact opposite to get better top end. Going from a 30 tooth to a 31 tooth pulley.

Nice. Was looking into this... but the manual mentions adding loctite to the bolt don't they?
Do you still have the 31t? Do you want to sell it?
Could you post a video on the proper alignment
What is the size of the nut on the front pulley?!
What I want to know, is it worth it?
Its been a year, whats up
