Thanks for posting. This video was super, super helpful. The plastic endcaps on our Bosch microwave have split apart twice now. Ugh! The replacement part is only $10 plus $10 shipping. However getting to the screws that hold the endcaps into place was like getting the ring to Mordor. A mystery wrapped in an enigma. Your video solved that for me. Thank you for taking the time.

I am not the handiest guy when it comes to home repairs but followed your video and easily made the repair. So- thanks for posting . I have model HMV3051U/02 and had to remove the vent cover to get door off but that was easy to figure out and do.

Thank you! Took my husband and I just a few minutes to remove all the parts to get to the screws! We never would have figured out how it came apart without your video.

Thank you for posting. I had the same issue, and your video gave clear instructions on how to fix the handle.

Thank you for this! I had the same thing happen and this helped immensely. I also had to remove the vent cover above the door before I could get the door off. Luckily the microwave is a little deeper than the cabinets, so I didn't have to unmount the whole thing to get to those screws.

Fantastic. Can't thank you enough. your video turned a 3 hour project into 30 minutes. I would have been fiddling around forever and probably broken something doing this without your directions. Thanks!

Thanks, this was really helpful! On the rev 2 model (HMV3051U/02) you can't remove the door until you remove the vent cover above the door. The vent cover is secured by two screws on top of the microwave which meant I had to unmount the microwave from below my cabinets just to complete the repair. Took me about an hour from start to finish. I used a couple thin metal putty knives to carefully pry out the trim. Plastic pry bars would be better but metal works if you are careful.

Thank you for your video. Also works for handles on model HMV5051U/01 which does not require removal of upper vent cover. One more tip for others: if the handle assembly with the new supports on each end seems like it is a tad too long and the screw holes don't line up when you go to put it back together, carefully turn the assembly vertical and press the handle down on the new support on a slightly cushioned surface (like the towel you used on your countertop) to help seat the handle into the support correctly. Apply only a little force at first and test the fit; repeat with only a bit more force as necessary. Eventually the screw holes between the new assembly and the base of the door will line up. Oh, another tip: the top plastic trim layer came off by my starting at a couple of corners than had openings into the bottom of the trim piece. I was able to pry the corner up and slide my small screwdriver along the length of the trim piece popping ing each clip as the tool approached it. Thanks again, Michael. Fun project!

You're the real MVPO for this video! Thank you sir
You just saved me so much aggravation, except of course the $88.00 I paid for the handle and 2 cheap plastic end caps. What a joke that is.

Thank you for this! Managed to replace the broken piece ourselves. First time it broke, paid a repair person $100 for labour - pretty crazy considering how easy it was. Just needed this video to show us the exact steps. Appreciate you taking the time to record and post it.

Thanks, this really helped me out. I used a kitchen butter knife to remove the first outer part for the second step I did not have any pry bars so I used multiple kitchen spoons and worked my way around! It worked!

thank you! I had a similar problem and this helped me a ton. I have a model HMV3051U/02 (as opposed to your /01) but fixing this was pretty much identical. I had to remove a couple of screws on the handle side before I could pry out the plastic part obscuring the handle screws. I also, similar to Mike Sweeney, had to remove the vent cover before removing the door.

Bosch has taken so much grief over this microwave door handle issue. I have their 800 series and the top door handle mount is on its way out. The online reviews are consistently 1-2 stars, and the door handle is the chief complaint. I would love to ask the exec or product development team who made the decision over these parts if the cost savings was worth the blowback.
Also the door handle trim parts are now $30 each on Amazon.

For that last step, removing the plastic face to actually get to the screws, I used a couple plastic drywall applicator tools, this pried the plastic face off working gently, working my way along the face, he used a pry bar but a couple cheap plastic drywall tools wil do the job of prying as well.

Thanks! That second step was a killer. Took two butter knives to remove it.

How did you get the door off of the microwave?

    • @michaelfunari
      @michaelfunari  7 лет назад +1

Open the microwave door 90 degrees and then just lift up at the hinges. Mine took some wiggling but not a ton of pressure.

I tried that several times but I just don't seem to be able to get the door to come off. I will call the mfr and see if they can tell me how to do it.

    • @mikesweeney3537

i figured it out. I needed to first take off the vent cover which is above the door before I could take the door off as you described. There are two screws on the top of the microwave you need to take out in order to pull off the vent cover. Once I got the door off, I followed your instructions and was done with the job in 10 minutes. Thanks!
