Superman IV Green Crystal Upgrade And Heat Vision Vaporizing Space Ship

- A small upgrade and added effect to the Smallville barn sequence from Superman IV. Added a bit of a core glow to the crystal, added some light fall off on Clark... Superman's eyes have a slight blue glow when using his X-Ray Vision. The new effect is more in line with the original effect of the first film.
The biggest part is rather than the ship simply vanishing, I now have Clark using his heat vision to vaporize the remains of the ship. It is quite possible this might originally been the intention, as Chris Reeve does act as if he is concentrating his heat vision.
So you can watch the original and the new version and then plays again with the new version only. Enjoy! :)
For some reason, Superman IV is the one that I feel the most protective over.
To me, it's like a puppy with missing limbs: it just needs a little help to be fixed.
Watching your upgrades is like seeing the puppy get some prosthetic legs; it's so heartwarming.
Hey, I was starting to miss you. Again I don’t think we can truly appreciate the work you’re doing. The fact WB hasn’t hired you to do an official cut It’s such a shame.
i have a feeling Canon disposed of all the original elements, just knowing how they were, which would make doing an official restoration and upgrade impossible... i hope one day we can at least get this full fan edit cause its amazing what hes shown us thus far
The effects are super impressive! Would love to see more.
At last! I thought you'd flown away! Awesome work, as always 🥰 Made my weekend.
Ah, dagnabit, you beat my version of this scene to RUclips by a few weeks!
Really like the x-ray vision effect.
He destroy his ship now,i like it
This is great! I always thought that Christopher Reeve’s performance here was indicative of him using heat vision to destroy the ship. He looks down so intently and then jerks his head slightly; in other words he looks “active” vs. looking bewildered, transfixed, or saddened by the vanishing of the ship that brought him to earth. I think you filled in an effect (and thus narrative) that was intended and never finished for whatever reason.
There were a lot of elements in Superman IV that were really good. Your improvements are awesome.
Your added touches looks better and makes more sense and makes the scene even Better!
Wow, Aaron! Love that new editing you made! Well done! Better keep our fingers crossed for Superman IV Extended Cut Edition on Blu-ray.
It's a small change, but those are the ones that count. It's diegetic, and even if we don't register it at first, we'll feel like something is off. In this case, it feels just right. Great job on the edit, and it does feel more in line with the first film!
This is far more better than the original finished product;
I really can't wait to see it finished.
Hi Aaron! 👋
So many changes that make a difference. I like how you're making so many adjustments that aren't in the script such as this scene but still keeping true to the material. Christopher would have been so proud if he could have seen your changes to IV so far.
Another adjustment that I think would be pretty cool, after seeing the film again recently, would be the Statue of Liberty slowly being taken apart from the base by Nuclear Man before Superman turns back round to see it taking off towards Metropolis; the odd crunching sound and how it happens so quickly off screen in the current version always bugged me!
I hope the extended version gets to see the light of day, even if all the material is not available to us such as the Metro Club (London Hippodrome) interior footage and Smallville Cemetery scenes.
I'm a big fan of this film as you are and thank you so much for surprising us with these changes. 🌟
A very nice touch up. Makes more sense for him to vaporize the ship with his heat vision. And I love the small detail you did with his eyes while using his X-Ray. Great job. I hope you have more edits to come.
You make the scenes look so much better!
👍Bravo and Super Aaron!🦸🦹🦸♀🦹♀
This is incredible! I love the subtle color shift of his eyes denoting the x-ray vision. I can only hope that Warner Bros. will let you re-edit this film, creating a version that Christopher Reeve would be proud of. Phenomenal work, as always!
Looks SUPER!
Yes!
Simple and effective touch up makes it so much better. Genius!
Wow! Beautifully done Aaron, all these improvements you're doing, you'll be able to stitch them all together soon!❤😊
I really love this! Just a suggestion: Some people feel the crystal should be a different color in this film, so as not to be confused with the green crystal from the original film.
Thank you for remembering when it was heat vision and not "laser beam eyes"
Excellent work, as always!
It's crazy how well the score fits this new version of the theme, since there's a hint of sadness in the theme as Clark incinerates his ship.
Your hard work on these clips is always amazing.
Wow, excellent! Please keep them coming.
Great job Mate. Cant wait for WB to hire you to upgrade the whole film!
Awesome job as always Aaron. WB hire this guy already.
Excellent stuff here mate.
Cara realmente era vc quem deveria refazer todos os efeitos especiais do Filme Superman IV o filme ficaria bem melhor com o seus efeitos especiais meus parabéns pelo seu trabalho muito show uma obra prima !!!!
👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏
WowW!
So proud of you, young man. 🥹
Great job, as always
If WB would release special edition versions of S3 and S4 they would uncover a small fortune for themselves. They know the public loves Christopher Reeve and they still underestimate the favor to his legacy they can render by showing his later Superman films in their best possible forms.
Beautiful work as always! God they cheaped out so bad on the effects for this film and it ruined it. The story idea was nice but the budget destroyed it. Such a shame. Thanks for fixing this scene!
Great job! I love it ;)
Good work!
👏👏👏
But...
Can you insert the original Superman's 1 farm?
Dear @APRICEPRODUCTION, I ADORE the work you've done so far on "Superman 4".
I SO glad you haven't stopped.
I have a bold suggestion: COMPLETE the entire film, and then, release it on a website of your own?
THEN, launch a petition, with the finished film for anyone to see, to be released?
If sent to the right people with influence?
REASONS WHY WB SHOULD RELEASE YOUR FILM:
1. Superman 4 is a incomplete film, so, the FINISHED version WOULD BE A BRAND NEW Superman film?
2. Releasing your film would create ALOT good will amongst fans of DC.
3. Releasing it will repair a lot of THAT lost good will.
4. This is Christopher Reeves last film, so, (as stated before) basically a fresh, new film.
Meaning great appeal to ALL Superman and comic book fans.
5. WB would be making far more money than they need to spend because you've done most of the work FOR THEM. . A WIN WIN for them and the audience (fan or otherwise).
Feel free to use my ideas if you do this or already going to.
God bless and THANK YOU for your hard work,
David
Hey David thanks for the message and support!
As much as I would like to release a complete new version of the film online, I feel at the moment it would only be like an upgrade of the theatrical cut, there is a lot of sequences I would have to do again in HD quality. Doing a whole film takes time especially when you're working for free, at the moment I can't work for free and I have been doing a lot of this between my other job.
Due to copyright reasons, it's different releasing clips compared to releasing essentially the whole film, once you put it on the internet. Even if it's for free, it gets quickly taken down or you're asked to remove it.
There is a lot of things I'd like to fix with the film, but realistically I will need to go back to the original elements or have WB permission or some form of payment to do it.
Aloha @@APRICEPRODUCTION, don't worry I understand. You've done so much magic already.
It's just, from everything I've leanred about the film, there's so much that was taken out, it would be a brand new film?
I have an idea for the titles sequence and a POST CREDIT scene which I think is fantastic.
WB's attitude is very strange. If you were paid by them to do the entire film (and maybe others) it would be a massive bridge building between DC/comic book fans. Plus, you have so much talent, it would be investing in the future?
I'm not going to slag them off, but, the movie studios do seem very pocessive to the point it's actually counter productive?
And finally, as a Doctor Who fan, I also know how many fans have become part of that franchise's new series. As writers and showrunners no less?
Why can't we do the same with DC or Marvel? Allowing talented and passionate fans pick up the torch and create something which spell binds the new generation?
Either way, LONG LIVE Christopher Reeve and god bless you,
David
Awesome!
Vast improvement! Well done. Though perhaps the heat vision beams should strike the open center of the ship and expand outwards instead of seemingly targeting off the bottom of the screen?
I tried that but the effect didn't look as good.
You are best!
Nice!
Just a crazy thought but has anyone ever sent any of these edits to James Gunn? He loves Reeve to bits.
Super!!!
Kind of has me wondering what that ship is supposed to represent considering the melted crystal meteor he crawled out of, as a baby. 😅
Far better
ありがとう!
Do you plan on releasing the full movie remastered?
No plans at the moment
Bud Warner are not going to give you the footage to do this movie justice because they don't care about Superman or Christopher Reeves legacy, so can you just ripp the 4k and apply all of your effects onto that from start to finish? It's better than us not getting a revised version at all.
I never understood what was happening at :28-:33.
When's the official release / trailer?
I actually prefer the idea that the ship disappears/disentegrates because he's removed the power source.
The only problem with the original version, is that it completely negligences the fact Clark removed the green crystal in Superman The Movie. Yet the ship still exists by Superman IV.
@@APRICEPRODUCTION I always took the crystal in IV to be a different crystal. The crystal in STM houses the Fortress, the Jor-El and Lara AI, etc whereas this is a second 'emergency' crystal that is solely for powering the ship and repowering Kal El in the event of a life-threatening emergency.
There was only one green crystal, no backup. The earlier films never implied backups. And in Superman The Movie only one green crystal is ever seen in the ship.
Why would the crystal be there? He used to create the Fortress of Solitude.
After the events of Superman II and Lex. I assumed it kept it somewhere he wouldn't find it.
