Another point about the standard range Model y, is that it has LFP batteries. It means you can charge up to 100% without the fear of damaging the battery (it actually recommends to do this once per week). This means you have greater range on the daily use. With LR or P cars they have NMC or NCA chemistry, which means you should only charge up to 80 to 90% to preserve the battery health. Of course you can still charge to 100% on a road trip, but don't let it sit in garage with 100% and use it straight away (drive). I think SR is best value and ease of use (charging).
Daren, thanks for your dedication towards making Tesla videos. Have you considered joining Tesla as a career? You seem to be a good fit for the company. 👍
Hey Daren, Really enjoyed the video... I want a Tesla umbrella... wait, California's in a drought! Lol Sad, but true. Suggestion: Can you leave the pop-up exhibits on the screen for an additional 2-3 seconds... I frequently am doing something else while watching, and by the time I react, it's off the screen. Fond memories of my own first ride and drive in a Model Y.... spot on about the single-pedal learning curve. SoCalFreddy
Thanks Freddy! Rainy season here in Singapore is like Seattle. Will keep the products displayed longer in the future (you can also pause the video if it helps).
Cool... Warm waters from the Indian Ocean (warmest in the world) create lots of moisture for your region, if I'm not mistaken. Pacific is quite cool off of our coast... Gulf of Mexico, Bala California are warm waters. Once we get El Nino back, we'll be wishing for dry weather. Bay Area gets more rain than SoCal, pretty much always. Anyway, still love the umbrella!
I believe the range anxiety is often strongest before owning an EV. Many owners have found it manageable in Singapore as it’s a small city (50km end-to-end) and has good supply of public EV chargers (3,000+ and growing). Many new EVs (not just Teslas) are also coming with better range (350km+).
It sounds to me the infrastructure is there already to support BEVs charging which is pretty cool. I personally have not done any research or calculations but I wonder a slightly bigger battery (350-400 mile range) save time for long road trips (maybe charge 1 or 2 times less). But, bigger battery may take longer to charge so it may not save more time lol.
I believe most people won’t need a car in Singapore with our strong public transportation and car lite policies. However, if someone is going to get a car, I believe Tesla is one of the best choices.
Great vid Daren
Congratulations on your Tesla performance Y purchase decision. I look forward to you and your family doing a road trip to put it through it's paces!!
Thanks D R-K! We’ll get the Model Y RWD this time as the price difference in Singapore is much higher.
4:30 Check with Hai Khim. So far, they offer the best rates. Typical installations are 1.x K instead of the 3-5K you mentioned.
👍🏻
Tell us about the front towing hook cover on the red RWD model Y ...

Great point, Olivier!

So nice to see a few model Y on the road. I have managed to get a slot for test drive tomorrow. Thanks for the link you shared earlier on Twitter.
Enjoy your test drive!
Never expect you’ll go for the Performance model Y! Way to go Daren
Haha will get Model Y RWD! Will aim for Performance next time.
@@DarenYoong good choice still!
@@DarenYoong Good idea. The road tax for the Performace Model is crazy! Any idea of how much the insurance will be?
@6:43 Big circle is not the sensor right?

Thanks for the kind words, Winston! Perhaps one day!
Thanks Daren for awesome content and constant update.
Thanks Lawrence! 🙏🏻
Full glass panoramic sunroof without the curtain ?

Some comparison about Tesla car maintenance vs ice car in Singapore / Malaysia for the potential new comers?
Darcy made a good video on Tesla's ownership & maintenance costs here: ruclips.net/video/OFcpYuw-W5A/видео.html
Great video! In your opinion, is there a range anxiety when buying a BEV in Singapore?

Nice work!!
Darren you said Teslas arent perfect. Can you share your thoughts around the imperfections?
Some owners report occasional phantom braking when using Autopilot, and the suspension can still continue to improve in comfort over time.
Will Daren subscribe for the FSD Beta as well?
I will when it comes to Singapore!
Whats your take on investing this amount in tsla stock now VS getting a car in SG worth 250k?
I believe most people won’t need a car in Singapore with our strong public transportation and car lite policies. However, if someone is going to get a car, I believe Tesla is one of the best choices.
Hi Daren is Tesla your first car? I heard that you just got your licence? Did i hear it right? Haha
Yes, this will be my 1st car!
Hi :) is your daughter filming this?
Hey Clarence! Was my wife today!
@@DarenYoong Ah I see! I made a wild guess because it felt like it was shot from a lower angle hahaha
When Tesla stock falls, Tesla bulls will turn to marketing for tesla products. This is the real power of Tesla.
😂
Are you like the official brand ambassador of Tesla SG? Do you need their permission to film?
Am a Tesla fan like many here! Yes, we ask for permission before filming
@@DarenYoong But do they know who you are? Are you "well-known" within Tesla SG? You look like you have some special privileges?
