Nice review. How does it compare to the Trek Slash you had? I'm on a Gen 5 Trek Slash and I really enjoy the balance between playfulness on jump trails and hard charging abilities on chunky gnarly trails. I'm guessing the Chainsaw charges harder through the chunk but does it feel as lively and eager to be tossed around as the Slash?
It really depends on the trail. At least with the mixed wheels it’s more maneuverable on the steeps and at higher speeds, but the weight is undeniable and on flatter trails the slash definitely wins.
The Spire is a better all rounder. Both climb well for the travel but the weight of the Chainsaw is noticeable compared to the Spire. On the gnarliest stuff the Chainsaw is the better bike. The traction at speed and on the steeps is just plain better.
I know what you mean. I rode the old Spartan around Colorado and it was pretty good, but I took the Chainsaw on my last trip out there and it was definitely sluggish on the flatter trails.
Youve got the only good reviews of the Chainsaw that I've found. Good work. Great riding.
@@Dragonfly0987 thank you!
Thank you for the video Nic 👍
My Pleasure!
how much fork travel did you have on it for the MX wheel setup? did you also have it on HI setting for MX? cheers!
I ran it with a 170 fork and in the high setting. That was the recommendation I got from Devinci.

Can you use it in mullet mode for the enduro set up ?
Yes, that’s how I’ve been riding it!

Nice review. Any thoughts how it compares to the Transition spire?

Chainsaw eat evrything not for long ride thought weights noticesable as he said👍
Sold mine due to that tradeoff
I've aTroy and two of my kids have Spartans. Awesome bikes, just wish my terrain justified a Chainsaw!

Excellent video! I bet this stresses your mom out!
It sure does
Just once I'd like the answer to "so who is this bike for" to be "wankers" and leave it at that
That would make the review too short
That would be a Santa Cruz then 😉
