Uconn has six now. Six in 25 years. Unbelievable program and culture they have up there in Storrs. The best basketball program since UCLA and for my money, given how much harder it is to win titles since the field expanded to 64, they're the best ever.
I think that the UConn men’s basketball team is now on the same level as its women’s program, and also should now be considered a blue-blood! (Now tied for 3rd all-time with 6 national championships!)
Uconn fan here but wanted to pay my condolences to the big man AP. R.I.P big fella. You touched so many lives in this sport and around the world. Gone way too soon. Fly high brother.
I hated seeing Michigan State fans complaining about the location of this game... like in 2009 we literally played a FINAL FOUR game against you in DETROIT! I guess this was payback...
This was the only time UConn has ever made the Final Four out of a region other than the West. Their four previous regionals were won in Phoenix 3 times and Anaheim once.
We should have started Trice over Appling. Don’t know how much of it was mental vs physical - maybe a bit of both - but Appling was a shell of his former self by this point and it was already obvious before this game. He often wouldn’t shoot the ball even if he was literally wide open. He would barely ever drive or try to create something off the dribble, even if the shot clock was running out. He started having really dumb, unforced turnovers and even his D was a bit worse. He just looked broken. Trice should have gotten the majority of his minutes instead of playing 4 on 5 on offense with Appling so much. I think we would have won
I still can’t forgive Rafferty on the call of the Nolan breakaway dunk at end of game. Shut up and let the kid have his moment instead of editorializing what he should have done while the play is happening and talking over Verne’s call.

uconn forever
Charles Barkley was still bitter about UCONN making him look like a dork in 2011. Well, they did it again in 2014.

And Las Vegas this past March.
count that 2 times out of the east as of 2024
@@dweinberg3492 And now 3 regional finals and a national title won in Phoenix. UConn LOVES Phoenix.
I was in Manchester Buffalo wild wings watching, that was loud af
I guess these band wagon reporters don't know kemba and donnell both made 2 final fours. 09 and 11
I cry everytime I watch this
12:00 since then every graduating senior had at least 1 final four episode
It's about championships though. Who cares if you finish 4th every few years? That's the attitude that gets you 1 championship every 20 years.
Did Magic Johnson hate this video 9 times???
thats wrong because michigan state won in 1979 and 2000
The stats were since 1999

I picked UConn vs MSU for the Elite 8. Just picked the wrong team to go to the final 4
1:44:51 Move Over Dallas Cowboys!
