I googled this comparison thinking i wouldnt find anything and boy was i wrong. You gave exact detail of what i was looking for. I currently have the 887 and theres nothing wrong with it but my helpers gun is about to croak and saw the 845 on sale for $120 tool only on amazon for black friday and am deffinately purchasing it. Thank you, great review!
Personally I’d just look for a used 887 for like $50-60 on Facebook market place. And then maybe put that other $60 towards more tools, bits or your retirement. I’ve had the same 887 for 6 years and never had a issue, use it daily all day. Dropped it 4 stories 2 years ago and the plastic housing cracked. Got a new housing for $15 on eBay and transferred the gutts in 30 seconds. Works like new to this day
Thanks for a great comparison video. I too find it frustrating when a company releases a new product with a lower product number as it creates unnecessary confusion. It's almost as if that was a trick to try to sell of their remaining 887 stock to the not as savvy customers. I just bought both units and am now confident about which one is going to be returned.
Exactly, makes you wonder what was behind that decision on the model numbers. You are probably right, something to do with marketing. Glad I was able to help. Thanks for watching!
looking for my first Dewalt impact driver. what is the difference between the DCF845B and the DCF DCF845D1E1? Are they the same driver? Is the later a kit number ? thanks
Correct they are different kits with different batteries but the same DCF845 impact driver. Scroll down halfway on this Dewalt page here to the 845 and you will see what batteries are included in which kit: www.dewalt.com/products/power-tools/impact-drivers-wrenches/impact-drivers
@@TeamDIYNowman I wish I knew which ones were the good ones, I bought a 809 about a week or so ago for my first impact driver and now I see 845’s 850s and even the 887
@@yes_man212 I know what you mean, Dewalt does a terrible job marketing with all these random numbers based on where they are sold etc. In general, it goes in this order: 809/840 (one is atomic other is regular sold at Lowes) followed by 850 (newer version of the 809), 887, than 845. To date the 845 is the most powerful, is it the best overall the verdict is still out. The 887 has been a workhorse for years the 845 was released sometime late 2022. Hope this helps.
@@TeamDIYNow I’m thinking of getting the 850 or the 845 they seem pretty similar in terms of real world performance, so far the 809 isn’t terrible but seeing how much worse it is compared to the rest I think the upgrade is necessary

The 887 has been around for years so I know its reliable. The 845 is about a year or so old so the verdict is still out, however I'm guessing it will be very similar to the 887.
I have saw the 887 on sale quite a few times in the last few months, but your right msrp is about the same price. It may have something to do with other competitors as I know the Milwaukee M18 is also $149.
@@gremlin7599 Yea the link in description from Amazon has the 845 for $140 as well. @@TeamDIYNow you know, im just getting a cordless circular saw for the first time ever right now. In the past ive never felt like i was close to not having enough batteries. Not sure if that is going to change, but hopefully it isnt. So thats a tempting deal but hopefully i dont need any more batteries
It would be so much easier to watch videos like this one to inform yourself before you buy multiple tools just to return one. Buying multiple tools with full intention of returning one is a lot of extra cost for retailers. This drives up costs for the consumer. Do research before you buy, not after. It only helps us as consumers as well as the retailers and manufacturers.
DCF887 is all good, I don't want to only have the 850, good to know that the 845 replaces the 887, and the 850 is the stubby version for when that suits. I regularly use both and would guve up neitĥer.

It's crazy on Amazon October 17th 2024 the new 845 is cheaper than the 887b which is older idk why

Which one is being returned? Just curious
it’s quicker because the new 845 has a 4200 IPM ( Impact per minute) vs the 887 is 3800 IPM.
Thanks for sharing, I mentioned the increased RPM but didn't talk about the IPM.
are the batteries the same size?
In the drill demo yes, I used a 5ah powerstack. During the comparison I showed one of them with a 1.7 ah and the other 5ah.
