The overall theme behind ghost is that it's quite literally a satirical take on the Catholic church. A mockery if you will. If you're pissed off, that's the point.
if ghost pisses him off he should look at his religion first 😭😭 they're just taking the church's words and actions and repeating it but in an "evil""" way
Yessssssss! This is the EXACT point. Its extremely satirical and purposefully sacreligious. The Catholic Church moves Pedophiles around to different churches and takes zero responsibility.
People have been pointing this out for years as some sort of defensive explanation, while still pretending the reaction isn’t then justified due to it being accurate. People don’t seem to get that it doesn’t matter to a faithful Christian if the singer thinks they’re just doing it for the sole purposes of making money and getting a reaction. Christians still accurately see it is being used in spiritual warfare to numb the audience into not caring about such topics, potentially harming them. A good phrase for all people to understand would be, just because you’re not interested in politics doesn’t mean politics isn’t interested in you, even if you’re just joking about it. Replacing the word politics with spirituality helps illustrate the point being missed here.
I mean I could but not literally. I take their art seriously but only because of how much I like it and how much it means to me. That kind of thing warrants respect from me.
@@FlipGuitarist80 Interesting, I never knew that. That argument makes sense, but you could look at it another way. Because of the way he presents himself, he comes off as not what he actually is to the general public. As a Christian, being not known as a Christian is something looked down upon, and presenting in an unorthodox way only contributes to that "secret Christian" theme. @@Tmanwith3yearsofwork While the song isn't exactly deep and is mostly just a catchy tune, though the listener always interprets the lyrics different. Breaking news, Christian man is pissed off at a song that mocks his religion. You're saying that as if it isn't a justified reaction. That's literally how anyone else would react if you mocked a core part of their identity and life.
I'm a huge Ghost fan, (I have action figures of all the Papas, and all the vinyls) and at the same time I'm a devout Christian...have been all my life, and a pretty conservative one at that (Church of Christ). Tobias Forge is a Freemason that hates how people use Christianity for power and money. It's all for theatrics. Each album has its own theme as their latest one is about the fall of empires. If you go see them live it's like a musical show more than a concert. Forge has said MoaC has many meanings and isn't sexual. Same with the other song on the ER Kiss the Go Goat...which oddly enough was the song that made me love the band.
Exactly I am a Christian who enjoys GHOST and I get like a horror/ comedy vibe. It's like I am reading a comic book that's like a Scooby-Doo crossover, Scooby-Doo meets Papa Emeritus

There's nothing inherently respectable about religious beliefs, especially religious beliefs that have a proven track record of being used to do harm. Demanding other people adhere to your beliefs, and shunning them (or worse, threatening or killing them) doesn't warrant anyone's respect. On the other hand, going out of your way to be a decent person warrants respect. Christians claim they do the latter, but it's transparent to non-Christians that it's all performative. The notion of "decency" in religious belief systems is superficial, self-serving, and often implemented in an authoritarian manner. That's why we aren't obligated to respect it. Back in my younger years I was called a "devil worshipper" because of the heavy music that I listened to. Metallica, Megadeth, Testament, Anthrax....etc.....funny how this is more satanic than any of that. Because of the sound or style. I've heard more pop music, country and rap that has been more blasphemous and satanic than what metal ever has. (Excluding bands such as Deicide, Arch Enemy, King Diamond...whatever.)
@Cal-fr9mw lol I used to think metal was bad but then I realized metallica and iron maiden are far cleaner than ariana grande (who 12 year olds listen to).
I'm a Christian and enjoy the band's work and their aesthetic. I am able to see the songs for what they are, written by humans with a satirical take on Christianity. Mary on a Cross is particularly clever because if you actually listen to the lyrics it's quite clearly about marijuana. When you're getting angry in this way you're no different from a muslim who is outraged from depictions of Muhammed in media. Grow up would be my advice.

Non-combatants, forget war. 99% of them, except for the case of the Turks killing Armenians, 99% of that 100 million were killed by secular regimes. @@Bonez0r I’m going to be real with you, I don’t think that reply is as applicable as you imagine, but I do appreciate that you were respectful with it instead of mindless hate. The point that I am making is not in reference to historical horrors committed by Christianity, I’m talking about the day to day negative influences of the religion and the mindset. Let it be clear, in my initial comment I didn’t even specify Christianity, this applies to more than just that one. Just to be clear with you, I’m talking about Christian influences that allow parents to hate their children due to them not being exactly what they pictured and makes it morally okay for those same parents to kick those kids out, or abuse them, or basically do everything that they can while ignoring the core of the religion (which the basis of love thy neighbor and being a good person is pretty good as a religion, I have no problems with people deciding that’s what they’re comfortable practicing). TLDR, often times there’s this mindset in TODAYS culture that if someone is uncomfortable with something unfamiliar or against their personal code of how they conduct themselves, they choose to disrespect and harm those who aren’t in accordance with their own beliefs. for example a person who isn’t trans doesn’t need to change their pronouns and dye their hair or nothing, but they should as a parent, as a friend or as any other member of someone’s life, should respect other people’s choices on how they conduct themselves INSTEAD of forcing them to be in accordance with their beliefs, which should go without saying but alas, people disagree with me on the basic fact of kindness and empathy. To make a long reply short, seeing people, wether themselves or their family and friends be treated poorly by the people who go to church and claim that they are loving and accepting as that is what their religion is about, then turn around and claim blasphemy on those people who may not be exactly what the Bible says for them to be and take that as a good reason to be an ass towards them is not really in my beliefs, and i find this band and the music they make and their theatrics quite healing, and that entire reply was only on one reason, and with things that I am not even personally affected by. I could dig in much more on mistreatments of minors, lies, things that are covered up, ignorance of fact in favor of blind faith, etc, but I won’t because I’ve already talked way too long lol
It's interesting how ghost ends their shows with a positive outlook, telling people to help each other, etc. Almost like he gathers the misfits with his lyrics and music and slowly turns them into good people with a glimmer of hope.

I'm a long-time Atheist and this is nothing that I would spend any money to listen to or even watch them in concert. Then again, part of being an Atheist is that I don't believe in any Deity or their minions such as Angels or Demons. Since I don't believe in a God, I also don't believe in a Devil either. Given that, I do think it is very weak when people try to tear down someone else's beliefs. People can believe whatever they want and they can display their beliefs however they wish as well. I just find it weak-minded when you get Satanists trying to destroy Christians or other religions. It also doesn't bother me when I see The Ten Commandments displayed in public. They were used to create many of our laws that still are in existence today. People ask me how I can't be bothered by them and I just tell them that they are common sense moral laws created BY MAN and NOT by a God. It's too bad Democrats have been able to get many of them struck down in many states. Such as Adultery laws.
Clearly, they didn't do the research on this band's history. The whole anti- church aspect is their theme, and many of their songs are written that way. They are a fantastic band though, and the stage show really is a spectacle, for those not so easily offended of course.
Personally, this video was kind of a reach but I can somewhat see what they're coming from. I can put politics aside for good music and they do make good music, if it wasn't for the fact this music genre isn't my preferred genre of music

The entire idea behind Ghost is that it is the horror movie equivalent of music.

Not muslims, not shintoists, not confucianists, not hindu's and not atheists. It was christians who abolished slavery on planet Earth."
Argument: Religion isn't good, it created war, suffering, the crusades, and historically some people would argue that it was a net negative.
Reply:
"Yes, this shows you how bad our education is in America. The bloodiest century on record is the 20th century, and that is because 100 million people, non-combatants, were murdered. Non-combatants, forget war. 99% of them, except for the case of the Turks killing Armenians, 99% of that 100 million were killed by secular regimes. They never tell you that, they say "oh, all the evil committed by religious groups...", first of all, everybody was religious in the Middle-Ages, so it's a pointless point, all the good done was also done by religious groups, all you had were religious groups. But where you had religious and secular, there is no comparison, the death of God is the death of man."
_--Dennis Prager being interviewed_
There is no such thing as religious trauma in Christianity. Christianity cannot hurt you. People can.
