      You rock ! Thanks a lot for all that details (and for the next ones coming).
      I assume you put the IR frame above your one way mirror (didn't you ?), but how was the feeling when touching it ? (I mean, wasn't it weird compared to our smarthphones touchscreens ?
      And last but not least, how expensive was the whole thing ? (especially the IR frame ^^).
      Thanks again for sharing your time with us Ryan, take care

    I love your honesty at the begining. Most of us secretly want to have an idea or a product that we can use to start our own business and free ourselves from the shackles of everyday employment (dramatically speaking). You tried it, it didn't work out and you didn't become bitter from it and shared your expierience with us. Thanks for that.

    Your smart mirror was awesome! I'm an electronics technician and have wanted to build my own smart mirror for a while. There's so many ways to go about it. I thought your interactive keyboard, two-finger volume function, and nest controls were awesome. The whole mirror looks really good! Thanks for posting this. I'm not a software engineer so I have no knowledge of C+ and C++ so whenever you get a chance to show the software build would be awesome! Thanks again for the video. God bless.

    one flaw you probably have thought about yourself is how many finger smudges you'll have on your mirror after using it... maybe consider implementing a kinect for gesture control

      Add a wnidshield wiper to it, lol

    • @jacknapoli7307

      or simply get a "smudgeless" cover... they exist and you just put it over the mirror and it allows for touch screen to work without finger smudges

      You mention that one of the problems with the mirror is certain lighting. Why not ditch the mirror all together and just go with a wall display that holds your calendar and has the built in functionality you have already developed. There are tons of busy families that could benefit from synced calendars that can be hanged on the wall to keep everyone up to speed. Why does it need to be a mirror?

      I mean once you cover a touchscreen with venice mirror it's all a matter of appropiate software not much different from writing any other touchscreen app

    • @holaahora7527
      @holaahora7527 3 года назад

      @@xGOKOPx But how does it work? He says an os 10 desktop application. What is that? Is that build on top of linux? Can he access other apps/programs or the operating system is only the software?

    • @xGOKOPx
      @xGOKOPx 3 года назад

      @@holaahora7527 If he said "os 10" then I guess it works on a Mac, although that doesn't sound right so dunno. My point was that it's no different from making a big touchscreen device and writing an app, only except you put a venice mirror on top of the touchscreen

    The first thing I'd like to say is I appreciate you making this video in one take it's is more natural and you come across real. second of all I'm sorry your plans for your business didn't turn out like you hope they would as of now. I've been in the same position as you several times but I never give up. It's good that you took in all the facts and drawbacks about your project before you turned it into a real-life sellable item. this way when you work through all your struggles in this current project and do offered as a sellable item it will be a solid piece of work. You are a very creative person and appears to be one heck of a programmer. myself I could never grasp programming that well are well enough to be any good at it but the hardware side is my specialty. maybe I'll give it a try and come up with my own version of a smart mirror and one day maybe I'll post it on your Channel. good luck best wishes in all your Ventures don't give up it'll only be your downfall in life.

      Can you put a parts list together and links to the software necessary? This would help for mildly interested users like myself to get a cost together and see if I can afford to do it, without having to click through six thousand pages to hope I have the correct parts. If this was feasible for me in my day to day, I'd love to give it a shot. I think it would help you grow your userbase if when you release stuff like this, you enable the viewer as much as possible. This will really assist with return traffic, based on my own browsing habits.

    I've been wanting to build a smart mirror for a while now & finally decided to jump in.
    A few issues that I've come across:
    1. Touch. It's a mirror. It has to be smudge free & had really good reflections. This is why there aren't many touch smart mirror tutorials.
    2. Use. How long do you spend in front of a mirror? The only time I spend in front of a mirror is when I brush my teeth in the morning & evening. That's about 20ish minutes in total.
    3. Location. Most people only have mirrors in the bathroom (This is completely dependant on the house person etc but most people will only have a mirror that they regularly use in the bathroom). If this is going to be used in the bathroom can the mirror withstand being in a hot & steamy room?
    4. Power. I can't speak for every household as each is completely different, not just where I am but everywhere. In Australia we have one or two outlets for power in the bathroom. Will these impede on user's being able to power other items or be more of a nuisance.
    Smart mirrors are a really cool concept, they definitely can be implemented but it has to be almost perfect. Unlike most other tech items that is a, 'one fits all', situation, smart mirrors are too far apart in offerings. It can be hard to find the right item for the right consumer.
    My mirror is still in prototype stages and it definitely isn't the best around (I did decide to use an Intel compute stick instead of a Pi after all). I have it display key information like weather, shopping lists etc. It's at my front door & is equipped with Google AI.
