Actually it was Henry VII who had the dragon. The dragon was a Welsh symbol, and was used by Henry on his banner at the Battle of Bosworth by which he claimed the throne by conquest.
Shame on you timeline. Way to undermine your Royal family. I am disgusted. I guess you want to get rid of the family by bringing up something which happened 500 yrs ago. I am embarrassed for you..
But still not the legitimate heir. Henry VII acquired his claim to the throne not by marriage with Edward IV's daughter, but through his own mother's Beaufort/Lancaster/Plantagenet blood. And although the Beauforts had been "barred" from succession almost a century earlier, Henry VII's claim via that exact line was accepted by parliament in 1485. And that is what counts.
The thing is, the english "Royal family" knows this. Blood lines, family heritage is their thing. And we can count on there are absolutely no details missed when it comes to that.... They actually might be afraid the public finding out. And to me, it shows how ridiculous the whole "royal thing" is really... Owing my respect as a human being, (also behind closed doors) is what is counting for me. Having lots of money, having no empathy, and arrogance sitting on a high throne certainly doesn't owe my respect, quite the opposite.... This was interesting. Thank you 🙏
@@aliceinwavyland You only have to look back in history and know the real royal family and how they got where they are today. Empathy is not a word to be used for the royal family
"King" Michael and his family line dodged a bullet if you ask me. Talk about money and power all you want, but I'd take a close-knit, loving family and the respect and friendship of my community over an immensely distant and dysfunctional family and the "privilege" of having every detail of my life ordered and critiqued by other people.
Can someone explain to me why their blood is so Royal? And why the peasants feel the need to give all their money to them while they go hungry and freeze to death?
The royal charisma about him is unmistakeable. He certainly knows his roots yet he chose to live a normal but satisfying life with respectable achievements and wise humility.God bless his family and his generations to come with Kingly favor and success🙏🏻
The Windsors, or should I say Saxo-Coburg have 0 charisma, have you listened too William, Harry, Charles or Andrew. Literally 0! But maybe that's the point, they aren't Royal. I guess
@O and in a constitutional monarchy to have the backing of the majority of people and if you behave like a tyrranical despot they may well dethrone you (and decapitate you) and install someone else as monarch or despatch having a monarch altogether!
In fact, King Michael I, passed away in 2012, so the rightful heir to the English Throne is King Simon I, not Charles whom belongs in Coburg Castle in Northern Bavaria, Germany!
I love what's said ... "The nature of history itself. It's fragile. It's accidental. ... some people rise up and others are cast down below ... we tend to think of the monarchy as a solid institution ... whereas in fact wealth, privilege and power and status just hang by a thread. There's no such thing as the divine right of kings". ... This beautifully sums up what I take away from this documentary. There's NO such thing as the divine right of kings (monarch).
The fact that the family lines of human beings are subject to accidents of fate or whatever other euphemisms one wishes to use for the Will of God really has nothing to do with the monarchist idea of the Divine Right of Kings that I can see. After all what sort of Divine Right did all the Saxon and Norman monarchs have to ownership of Britain to begin with? As Napoleon once said God is on the side the largest armies. That's also a bit of a massive oversimplification since natural disasters such as plagues, meteor collisions, volcanic eruptions or other "Acts of God" have also historically influenced property distribution but no more than the Socialist notion that all of us are equally entitled to an equal share in all the property in the world which is something that has never existed in actual practice anywhere.
@Anon but not q Basically that traditional legal principles such as hereditary property rights do not cease to exist regardless of the legitimacy of the Tudors or not. Legal traditions exist because it benefits us to have commonly accepted principles of law to refer to not because any of us are under any delusion that those principles have never been corrupted in practice by shady lawyers or dishonest judges and politicians. :)
The problem is that you cant change one element from history, and then leave the other elements the same. Perhaps if the first event happened, the others would've been different and there would be different people on the throne today.
@@jamesthornton9399the difference would certainly be different if the correct lineage was preserved at the source of the mishap. The rightful descendants would not be that free to marry whoever they want and they would have had more money that would open them to different opportunities and social circles to mingle and pair up with. The alternative royals that are living today would not have been born and most likely would not have been living in Australia, there would be different lineage entirely in the UK. Moreover, the UK probably would still be catholic as the mishap was before Henry VIII. Possibly there would be enough royal descendants in England that James VI from Scotland would not end up being king James I of England and Ireland as well, Scotland might have still be independent country. There would be different political tensions that would perhaps not lead to Cromwell dissolving monarchy in 1649 and then creation of constitutional monarchy might well not have happened (it started in 1688). In fact who knows, with the anti monarchy movements in Europe in the early XX century the British Royal Family might have been dissolved completely with revolution the same as in other countries if it still held more power at that point. I think it only survived so long as it was not perceived as powerful, the UK might have had a president today instead, but we would never know that. Perhaps the handsome archer has actually saved the RF after all, as it is still going strong today despite the political storms around them.
Interesting that Simon Michael Abney-Hastings, 15th Earl of Loudoun was chosen to carry one of the gold spurs of the royal regalia, emblems of knighthood and chivalry to be presented to the king at the 2023 Coronation. The only Australian to have an Official role for the Coronation.
OMG! This video needs to be shared around the world! The REAL King Michael looks so kind. The interviewer is so lucky to have met the rightful King. The daughters joked and laughed because they are so used to their happy carefree lives down under. A blessed family. But it makes me sad to know that the REAL King was not on the throne
I don't know that he's the real King there are several of us that stem from the actual royal family Crown in the beginning of time the McNichols family is supposedly the rightful royal family Sophie of Hanover was the last legitimate Royal Queen that takes it in a whole different direction of which my cousins are talking about right now because they're direct ancestors so we've got some problems and we're trying to figure out who can help us figure out the real thing anybody got a law degree
@@shariedeal930 You'll need someone with more than a UK law degree. You'll need a couple of British historians, genealogists and access to royal records. Then, you'll need at minimum, a British Lord or higher, to confirm every finding, and a few advocates in Parliment. Best of Luck, but it will likely remain a great story to pass to your posterity.
This kind of thing happened at the time, not just to the British monarchy. Or someone warred against the King/Queen, overthrew them, and took the throne.

A man who who does not seek the pleasures of power, who accept and understand the privileges and freedoms of a simple life, that man is a man who I can call king.
From Edward all Kings and Queens have no right to the throne and no illegitimate can claim the throne through right of conquest . Micheal Halletts family blood line proceeds Edward the so he is was the rightful heir . He had no interest in the throne and neither did his sons he died in 2012. We have known about him for years but it was all hushed up.
@@ruthjackson4342 Right of conquest by it's very definition is right of ownership through force of arms - legitimacy or even having any relation to the previous royal bloodline is of absolutely no relation to this (whoever is capable of hosting an army, invading and conquering becomes king). Henry VII made it very clear that he was not co-ruling with his wife Elizabeth of York who was viewed by some factions as rightful heir to the throne, but instead he chose to marry her symbolically as a sign of peace. His claim to throne comes not through his bloodline, nor his wife's but instead in seizing government.
The Act of Settlement, saying that the future monarch has to be a legal child, is from 1701. Means, these rules did not apply in the time of Edward yet.
Also laws don't really matter for a feudal system. Might makes right. Or are we now going to say William the Conqueror isn't a legitimate English king lol.
Why should there be The Act of Settlement? If Edward IV was illegitimate, then there wouldn't be a Henry VIII who wanted to be divorced by the catholic church from his first wife Catherine of Aragon, which was denied by the pope. That was the reason why Henry VIII made his own church. Maybe the Kings of England would still be catholic... There would be another history. On the other hand several other countries of northern Europe had seperated from the catholic church. But the history would defiantly different. If the Pole/Hastings family would have inherited the crown, they would have married other partners. Princesses from other countries for example. And princesses from the "Hastings" royal family would have married foreign princes. No one could tell if there would have been a war about religion in England. The british parliament enacted The Act of Settlement because they wanted to exclude catholic descendant of Elisabeth Stuart, but with the alternative line of succession maybe no Britain would exist, if the crown of England and Scotland never merged together. Actually it doesn't matter. The father of Edward IV never disputed, that the fourth child of his wife wasn't his. He had 13 children overall with her. I don't think he would have so much children with her, if he would have thought she betrayed him. And he couldn't be so stupid that he couldn't count the time how long a pregnancy take...
@@red.aries1444 Henry VIII's claim to the throne did not depend on Edward IV. His father, Henry VII, did explicitly claim the throne through his mother's Beaufort ancestry. And although this family had been blocked from succession a century earliert, parliament accepted this exact claim by Henry VII in 1485. So he was crowned king BEFORE he married Elizabeth of York, Edward IV's daughter. And one more thing. If Edward IV had not claimed to be king, then the Lancaster main line would possibly not had died off during the Wars of the Roses. Edward's brother George, the duke of Clarence, would have been too weak to claim the throne. So Henry VI's son, prince Edward of Wales, would have become king somewhere around 1480 after his father's natural death (not murdered in 1471 by Yorkists). So the house of Lancaster would have persisted and we would see a completely different royal line today.
@@theodoravonwied5441 - Yes! So many alternate scenarios to ponder, the millions of ripple or butterfly effects over many centuries to imagine...what is, what could’ve been, and what never was...it’s so fascinating and fun to think about!!
@@theodoravonwied5441 I think there is a misunderstanding. :-) I don't doubt Henry VII claim to the throne. Any other claim is irrelevant after the parliament acceptet Henry VII as the rightful king. After this it really doesn't matter even if he wasn't of royal blood. My point is, that the Act of Settlement says that everyone who isn't a descendant of Sophia of Hannover and who married a catholic is excluded. You can't argue with any later law to something which happenened before. There are to much possibilities over the years. And even if George Plantagenet had inherited the throne, then the following English kings and queens had definitely married other partners, so there never would have been a Michael Abney-Hastings. So nice interesting story, but any other person with more rights to the english throne than the actual queen Elizabeth is a completly stupid idea.
I've watched this numerous times and wondered about Mr. Hastings family. I truly hope all of them are happy and well. Although the fires have been the worst we have ever seen most of the country has not been burnt. I think where this family lives is on the plains. The fires have been concentrated on coastal areas and in hill and mountainous country. We Australians appreciate the love and concern the international community has shown. However, I think we also need to let everyone know the majority of the country has not been burnt. North Queensland, where the Great Barrier Reef is located, is unaffected. One of the big problems that is now stemming from the fires is that many tourists are cancelling holidays or not coming even to places such as the northern, western and central parts of Australia have not really been affected.

Really? In Shakespeare's King Richard the III he was a hunchback and we were told that he probably made that up as he was a villan. However when they discovered Richard's skeleton a few years ago guess what...he was a hunchback!
@@kevinlongman007 Yes, but it was greatly exaggerated by the Tudors. He had a slight scoliosis of the spine. Shakespeare's portrayal of him was probably based on a history written by Moreton, and copied out by Thomas More. They lived long after the events written about. There is plenty of evidence to say he was a good king. Shakespeare is not only writing to entertain, he has to keep his head on his shoulders in Tudor times when he lived.
Indeed fascinating but the point is rather moot. The British "line of succession" is riddled with illigitimacies, regicide, interruptions and influxes of foreign dynasties.
pat gladwell Some of the Queen’s middle distant heritage is German. The most recent of her ancestors, who were born in Germany, were 2 of 8 her great parents, Queen Mary’s parents. They were both born in Germany in the 1860s. But even that is not clear cut as Queen Mary’s grandmother and great grandmother were born in England being Queen Victoria and one of her daughters. Otherwise you have go back another generation to find more German ancestry to Prince Albert. The Hanoverian dynasty derived its claim to the throne from George I’s grandmother Elizabeth, daughter of James VI of Scotland I of England (In other words his British heritage was much closer to him than the Queen’s German heritage). All royal families until the twentieth century tended to have foreign spouses. By emphasising the foreign heritage and not the British is artificial. The present Queen has comparatively little non British blood, particularly when compared to virtually all her predecessors back to Elizabeth I. Elizabeth I and Edward VI are almost unique in the British monarchy after William the Conqueror in that they had very little non British blood

@@miraclefifita650 That's not quite the same thing. The Divine Right of kings meant they believed God had put them there. Catholics go to confession to be forgiven for their sins, Anglicans take it up with God directly. Kings can't forgive sins like that. Charles II signed away the divine rights of his kingship as a condition for returning, so his father Charles I was the last king to have Divine right of kings, I hope that helps.
Would love it if you did the same to trace who should legitimately be called the True Prince of Wales. When Llywelin was ambushed and beheaded in 1282 his wife Elinor and baby daughter Gwenllïan were taken and incascerated in a Nunery at Sempringham in Lincolnshire and were imprisoned there until their deaths. This ensured no legitimate heir to the title of Prince or Princess of Wales. Would love to know, based on similar research who is alive today and could be proved to be that legitimate heir. 🏴🏴 BTW we are still not allowed to bring their remains home to Aberffraw on Anglesey, the location of their historical Royal seat.
The whole Dutch house of Orange is illegitimate!! Wilhelmina could't get children. Juliana was adopted. Her first born was from her father...! They kept her away, somewhere in Holland. Beatrix was the 2nd child. She and the rest ( our so called king and princesses) are all bastards, because Juliana was adopted, so no one has the blood nor genes from the first Dutch king, hundred years ago.
From my quick research the prince's of whales eventually run out of sons with their daughters marrying into the British Royal family. So this guys the prince's or if you take Edward to be legitimate which most schollers do at this point then it's king Charles.
What a lovely bloke King Michael is! Kind, productive, modest and rational, he seems like he'd be a good leader, regardless of bloodlines. Something that occurs to me is that the departure of the Plantagenet line from royal culture may have been a blessing to the lasting health of King Michael and his family. Being excluded from the royal lineage allowed the Plantagenet descendants to escape the practice of royal inbreeding and bring the fresh, robust, healthy DNA of commoners into their family tree. The consequences of generations of inter-marriage and inbreeding within European royalty brought the monarchy many tragic genetic issues that we know of (haemophelia and porfiry, to name two,) and there are likely additional genetic problems caused by inbreeding that are still present in the current British royal family, but are yet to be identified and diagnosed by medical science. Those who abandoned the royal practice of inbreeding with their cousins appear to be far more healthy - both physically and emotionally - than most of the current Saxe-Coburg-Gotha ("Windsor") clan.
I really liked that they did this research. He has a strong claim, no doubt, since he is the current Plantagenet heir, but the fact is that Henry VII was King by Right of Conquest. He married Elizabeth of York to add legitimacy to his already frail claim through John of Gaunt, but while he was not 'legitimate,' he was still King. This was a great thought exercise and lesson about history though. I wonder how many others through that long line of Kings and Queens were not really legitimate. But as always, appearance is reality, and possession is 9/10ths of the law, especially when talking about royalty.
Fascinating and intriguing revelation. Michael has a very noble demeanor and that certain confidence that comes with the royal legacy he was born into.
I really feel this man is genuine, kind and fair minded. If our current 'royals' are aware of this travesty of justice, then I am even more ashamed of them now!
...this is only based on what happened FROM the point they started to look into the line of the monarchy... go further back and you'd have a different monarchy again.
true, and the right to rule of the current royals have already been established. i mean i dont know how things goes but things happens for a reason so we cannot discredit their right to rule nowadays.
It is not important who is supposed to sit in the throne but who does. Power is not given - its taken. I will give you a good example , my country (Bulgaria) had a pig farmer as Tzar for 1 year , just because he managed to get the throne threw rebellion while the Tzar was at war. If you look at the English Monarchy its the same. For example Queen Mary (Henry 8th daughter) should of never been queen because her brother Edward 4th (king at the time) took away her and Elizabeth's titles and made them illegitimate. He left the crown to Lady Jane Gray. She was queen for few months until Mary took the throne via Rebellion. In fact the Tudors took the crown via Rebellion during the war of the Roses.
Yes with the pure evil that's on the throne now it's unbelievable that he's still alive!!! They definitely murdered Diana and don't have any problems with assassination!!!
@Valerie O'Brien you d know that does "habits" and "attitudes" that you see from the said current "royals" are just stuff that was trained for them right? they were taught to not act like human even they are absolutely 100percent human. they are taught to supress it.

If he jas died few years ago, when was the documentary taken? No wonder, the prof at the seminar/workshop on 15th century monarchy looked like they were all from the 70s/80s era..
The real flaw in the logic of this alternative history is simple: if they had been royalty, their lives would have been much different. Some who died would have lived and vice versa. Who they married would have been much different, because of diplomacy and politics. Would there have been a reformation? And when? Would the Stewarts have taken the crown? Would there have been a civil war and, if so, who's head would have been cut off, if anyone's? Would Cromwell have existed as we know him? There would still be a Plantagenet family, but history would have played out entirely differently and King Michael and his family would never have been born. My experience tells me that whoever the current occupants of the palace would be now, they would not be all that different. They play a role. How necessary that role might be is debatable. However, I do believe the royal line is to be congratulated for gradually stepping down from power, gracefully and peacefully - many countries had to go through bloodbaths to accomplish the same thing. So, if the cost of this peaceful transition is that the mostly agreeable figurehead gets some small percentage of public funds to continue in the role, well, Britain could do far worse.
But the roles the monarchy play now are too much...why do they get to decide where their taxpayers' money goes? And they bahave so badly. All they do is give the people's money away. They rob Peter to pay Paul. Either they should be what they would be-gvt or they shouldn't be at all.
Yes, certainly, an upbringing can help to become better at a job. And there are transgenerational markers passed on through genes. I believe there is valid claim in what is presented in the documentary. As we talk about bloodline, far varied genetics are more healthy (MCH immunity). More healthy than inbreeding to keep material possessions and spheres of power in as close as possible a family circle. It´s a tragedy for everybody involved, and even more so, when far-reaching decisions are made.
I mean they could just have him killed if he was too much of a threat. Just like they wacked diana because she was going to marry a muslim. That would ruin the bloodline for all eternity and it wasn't acceptable.
I like how well this documentary is put together but there are several things wrong with it. 1: Edward IV could have been illegitimate. However, it's highly unlikely. His mother Duchess Ceicly was highly guarded and watched. She would not have been able to have an affair. Yes it is possible, but very unlikely. Secondly, the pregnancy clock begins on the 1st day of a woman's menstrual cycle and babies are normally born between 36-40 weeks. It is very possible that Edward IV was conceived by his parents before his father went on campaign. 2) Even if Edward IV was "illegitimate" which I don't believe he was, he still WON the crown but right of conquest when he defeated Henry VI. Which either way legitimized his claim to the throne regardless of his parentage. 3) Using my 2nd point, since Edward won his crown through conquest, he was still the rightful King when he executed his brother George Duke of Clarence. Also, Edward attained his brother upon his execution. So, that means George's children lose EVERYTHING. 4) Moving on to next point, since George's children lost everything when he was executed, and Richard III and his heir were dead, that passes the Platengent claim to the throne to Edward IV's eldest daughter Elizabeth of York, who had already married Henry VII. 5) The current monarch, Charles III, is descended from Elizabeth of York through her daughter Margaret and the Stuart's. So as well put together as this video is, take with a grain of salt. The only way to prove whether the current royal family is legitimate or not is test bones and I don't see anyone doing that.
Kingdoms came and went back then. Royal and noble houses were constantly being replaced through wars, betrayals, luck and other means. This family is just another example of aristocratic families that ran out of luck. Thus another family name took it's place. That's just how these monarchs and noble families functioned back then. Beautiful family though.

During last week’s row over the long list of Paterson/Johnson sleaze enquiries, the Conservative Party whips office told backbenchers from the "Red Wall" their constituency areas would lose funding if they failed to vote with the government. Now the gimpish cabinet secretary Simon Case is to investigate the allegations - which everyone including all opposition parties, deaf and blind groups and inmates of Strangeways say amounts to yet another gross misuse of public funds and total disregard of parliamentary rules. The clown minister’s spokesarsehole confirmed the reports when questioned about them on Friday while showing complete contempt for Brexit voters, flag wavers and Red Wall constituents. Monaco was taken over by 2 brothers with an army, so the story goes. After enough people were killed, they declared themselves princes and that's how their "royalty" was born. There will always be poor people and rich people, underprivileged and ridiculously privileged, but claiming that God ordained this, so called royalty, is what is offensive.
Harry does not an inherit the throne after Prince William. Currently Prince George inherits the throne from his father William when he becomes King. Brilliant! History at its best. Although nothing will change, it is what it is and it is the truth, that is history, like you said "the nature of history, is fragile, accidental". It reminds me of the history of Latin America. When Cristobal Columbus arrived in the americas, he thought he had arrived in India, not the Americas, so he called us Indians, which of course we are not. Also, he did not discovered us, before the Spaniards, there had been the Vikings, the Chinese, who treated us very different to how the pilfering Spaniards did.
There's only ONE requirement for a legitimate king. You must be able to dispose your rivals. After that any law you pass can make you a lawful king so in the end you'll be lawful.

But they are still under the highest King

I am at a loss to see how little effect the different outcome would be. Especially That the monarchy was constituted monarchy.

Agree.
And via lineage from his mother? Margaret Beaufort was a direct descendant of John of Gaunt
@@jackfitch8134 not a strong nor arguable legitimate line. His biggest claim is his marriage to Elizabeth of York

Exactly.
Moot because Parliament not a person’s heritage decides who is monarch. It has been thus since at least 1485 - Henry VII’s time.
Yes our Queens family heretage comes from Germany and her husband from Greece
pat gladwell Some of the Queen’s middle distant heritage is German.
Keeps the bloodline healthy. :)

I love this guy, what a family man! 5 kids, 5 grand kids - if that's not success I don't know what is - long live the TRUE King!
There are lots of reasons why Edward IV was likely legitimate too.
Also, NONE of this matters. Cause Edward took the throne by conquest.

But inbreeding is so much fun for the whole family.
This issue would probably have to be taken to Court.
Fascinating and intriguing revelation. Michael has a very noble demeanor and that certain confidence that comes with the royal legacy he was born into.
"All the kings started died like flies." Is so similar to "Now, the kings are dying like flies." By Tyrion Lannister
No coincidence. GRRM was heavily influenced by the History of the Middle Ages & events that transpired as well as Literature about the era.

I really enjoyed this documentary! Thanks! I believe Michael has had a better and richer life than Britain's royals
That's correct. His children and grandchildren all talk to him, and are part of his life. Not something King Charles can boast about at all.
Couldn’t agree more.
...this is only based on what happened FROM the point they started to look into the line of the monarchy... go further back and you'd have a different monarchy again.

true, and the right to rule of the current royals have already been established. i mean i dont know how things goes but things happens for a reason so we cannot discredit their right to rule nowadays.

Exactly. There's no such thing as blue blood, just random coincidences.
I agree with you, although probably Charles I doesn't
@サイレントボイス if you aactually believe that 100percent then you are deceived.

@@gravemind3590 diana wasnt royal blood tho
If that’s true, then he really got the best part of the deal. Getting to live his happy life and getting a bit of hush money allowance from the crown.
The only way to prove whether the current royal family is legitimate or not is test bones and I don't see anyone doing that.
first impression He looks like he would be a great king. He looks like he would be fair and generous, too.
Not if he'd been raised in England as royalty. That speaks volumes about entitlement.
I love that there was a white stallion just in the back yard. Seems poetic.

Johnson, well known around the world as a despicable liar, lazy lowlife scumbag and fat scruffy spaffer in chief, is facing the prospect of a “cash for votes” inquiry into why his party used public money to “blackmail” its own MPs. In a letter to Mr Case, Liberal Democrat leader Ed Davey said it has been proven that the government was “consistently threatening to withhold vital investment from communities across the UK, in an effort to blackmail backbenchers into voting in an unconscionable and immoral way. “It is unthinkable that local communities would be punished by having vital funding taken away, just because their deceitful Tory MPs attempt to defend the indefensible.
