I believe James Hetfield wrote 'Sad but true' about addictions... he struggled w/ alcoholism for decades. He'd also seen so many musicians struggle w/ drug and alcohol addiction (including members of Metallica)... It was just a way of addressing the reality that someone who has the tendency to indulge in substance abuse, despite the harm & destructiveness it causes them, cannot quit the habit cos something within them is telling them that they gotta do this to feel alive...

@@kennethbartlett4302 I started pre-puzzing about 2:00 in the afternoon so that I'd peek at about 6:00 and I just kept on eating them so that I'd peek about an hour after every peak I didn't go home till about 2:00 in the morning and ate the rest of them before I went to sleep which was about 8 hours later after I got home. Yes, it was a hell of a night! But I had done a lot of acid before that so that's why I was able to do it. Not that day! But accumulatively I had done a lot of acid. Those days are over for me now! Peace!
