This movie always reminded me of the Betty Broderick divorce. She worked several jobs to put her husband through medical school. Once he completes his residency he tells her he wants to be a lawyer. She proceeded to put him through law school while working multiple jobs, taking care of two kids and living in a three room apartment. Dan Broderick benefited from his wife's sacrifice. Once he hit it big, he kicked his wife to the curb for a newer model. I can somewhat sympathize with women like Malinda. You pour your heart, blood, sweat and tears into a marriage, helping your partner's dream come true. Your partner's success is supposed to be your success as well. But, in some relationships it backfires.
Great comparison. Maybe that was what Tyler Perry got the idea since it looks like all he does is steal ideas from other people's movies to make his own.
She was such an idiot, and took no accountability. Ladies, do not do what Melinda did. Do not buy a boyfriend a car, and still date him after he cheats
I remember seeing this in theaters and when I say it was 10 people in the movie and we all collectively were fed up when she was upset about the millions and getting her house back. This movie pissed me tf off. It's a tie for me for A Fall From Grace.
To her, it was more than just $10 million and the house. She can’t get back 20 years of her life she gave. While she is the blame for putting up with him, he ain’t innocent and he was just as bad if not worse. All those years, he never helped or cared for her. He leeched and got everything he wanted. He sat and watched her struggle while he worked on a stupid battery for 20 years. She begged and pleaded with him to get a job and help her. He did nothing. He deserved everything she did to him even though it caused her own demise.
This movie was crazy but my overall opinion is that we allow stuff to happen and we have to take accountability for what we put up with i.e. Melinda. She didn’t have to stay with him and she didn’t have to ram that trailer. She was literally her own worst enemy. And she never should’ve let her sisters be in her ear about her relationship knowing that their relationships weren’t problem free.
I know ole girl was mad and she sacrificed a lot but ma’am you did what you were supposed to do when fed up and you left. He made it and he gave you what he thought you were owed back. He can’t give you those years back but you can use this millions to get you a therapist and a surrogate and move on. Yes she had a right to be mad at her lost years but that’s your fault too. I hate this movie.
This movie makes me so mad because it’s relatable but for the first 75% of the movie I felt Taraji and her feelings were valid… it wasn’t until the end the narrative changed from him being in the wrong to her being in the wrong 😑
Melinda had self-esteem issues and anger issues. Because of unresolved issues, mother and her sisters she fell for the first man that whispered in her ear. That husband saw a mark and drained everything he could out of Melinda. As soon as he saw something better, he bounced.
So rewatching this now in my 20s instead of teens I'm more on Melinda's side as far as the financial dispute goes. Screw the marriage. Take that out of the equation and what you have is an investor that bankrolled Robert 1.2M. She was the sole investor. I think a 50/50 split is fair
Nah this movie scared me because a lot of what taraji was doing I’ve either done or thought about doing with no real though of it being crazy 😂😂😂 I resonated a little too much with this movie. I chalk it up to it being the Capricorn in me 🥴
He claimed he lost the scholarship because he committed a crime when he was younger and did some time and somehow the school found out and pulled his scholarship🤔
Malinda was financing Robert's dreams but what about her dreams? Did she not have anything that she wanted to do? She never felt smart and didn't do that well in college. When her mother died, why didn't she take her inheritance and start a business or go on a trip? Her whole life was revolved around Robert and helping him with his battery. Everything that she did, she did it willingly. She could have just said no. When Robert lost his scholarship, he could have apply for some loans or a work study program to finish his last two semesters. There was other options. When he couldn't find a job after graduation because of a felony on his record, he could have took the first thing that was available even if it wasn't a lot of money. Other than that damn battery, he had no drive. Support the dream until the dream supports you. Malinda shouldn't have bought him a car. He was walking and catching the bus just fine. She allowed Robert to manipulate her and play on her emotions. She never took accountability for what she did. All that money that her mother left her, she never once did anything for herself. When the money ran out, all she had left was her mother's house which was paid off. That was when she should have put her foot down and said no to taking out a mortgage. Her sisters was a lot especially the older one, but Brenda was spot on about him. She told Malinda not to tell Robert about the money that their mother left her.
I'm a therapist and going for my Doctoral PhD. In human behavior. She was diagnosed with border line personality. And also the four attachments styles.
I gotta re-watch it, but I believe ol girl left that wallet in is truck on purpose. She planted it because she wanted him, but knew he wouldn’t leave Malinda, She had to do something to make her leave him and she knew from history she’s crazy if he’s cheating
I wanna speak on the Wallet 🪪 scene! It wasn’t that she and the sisters just assumed he was cheating it was the fact the Wallet had the girl ID in there and Melinda saw it was the SAME girl he cheated on her with years ago and she was TRIGGERED like what is this woman wallet doing in your truck? Mind you in a relationship communication is everything why wouldn’t you tell your wife you are talking to the girl you cheated on her with years ago behind her back to help him get a meeting with the CEO’s??? So looking at it from her point of veiw anybody would think he was cheating again
I just want to say thank you Ashley for constantly releasing these Movie Corners. I am in love with this series!!!
She's great 😊😊😊😊
What made Acrimony terrible was how it ended. It just felt like Tyler Perry got bored and found a fast way to wrap it up.
Exactly like he didn’t think it out this was a rushed movie

@@leochick77 You never know with TP. He's forever borrowing.
I see why Betty lost it. A great comparison.
The only difference is dude didn’t kick her to the curb in this movie, she kicked him to the curb.
The moment she started buying him a car and paying his tuition she fell into his mother role. And that's how he saw her.
I’m living for these movie corners. Had me rolling 😂😂

That boat scene reminds me of Monique sneaking on the boat to rescue professor Ogolevie....i think that's where TP got it from

This movie and Temptation finally opened my eyes about Tyler. He needs therapy

Idk Ashley.. if I find a wallet in my friends / sisters car.. that’s suspect. 😂😂
Especially since it’s the same girl from college he cheated with 😬
Melinda had self-esteem issues and anger issues. Because of unresolved issues, mother and her sisters she fell for the first man that whispered in her ear. That husband saw a mark and drained everything he could out of Melinda. As soon as he saw something better, he bounced.
What a time to be alive. Ashley just spoiling us with the movie reviews!

I love your movie corner videos!!!!!
Why am I just now finding out you about this segment??😂😂😂😂 I love it!
I’m still standing on he was 40% wrong and she was 60% wrong lol.

THIS MOVIE made me shocked Taraji doesn't get paid she was incredible ❤
She got paid handsomely for that movie.
I feel like it just take one situation to take us to the point of insanity

Ahhhh I rember when you first reviewed this! It was the first video I seen from you and I’ve been here ever since ❤
Ashley they actually filmed the movie in 8 days due to her schedule when she was on Empire at the same time
Thanks for this video. I'm patiently waiting on what it is.. hope you are feeling ok..
Another great video Ashley
She technically deserved more than 10 million. A good lawyer could have gotten her way more. LOL
Robert was willing to give her more money, but Diana told him that it wouldn't do anything good and Malinda will continue to ask for more money.
this was legion and Tessa without the murder and extra stuff
I would have not married him and kept my family out my business
He was getting on my nerves with the I need you to believe in me ish.
Ashley you can’t be serious to save yo life!!!! 😂😂😂❤❤❤
Tyler Perry will do what he wants to do, and social media and bloggers will continue to roast him and his talents.
Agreed 👍🏿
This movie made my ssa itch 😂😂😂
Whew this gone be good!!!! 😂😂😂
Actor that looks like Chris Brown😆 Terayle Hill and you ain't never lied😉
Yeah I watch Sistas, but I’ve never watched Acrimony. However I noticed that you kept referencing Acrimony occasionally.
You should watch it it's good but the ending pissed me TF off
I’m gonna have to watch this when I get off work…: but I know this review is about to be littttttttttt
I mean you should also tell your spouse you having lunch date with people you done cheated on with
🎉92K🎉
If the check was 75million, I’m convinced that’s how taraji got in the boat!!

I totally agree with this take. Ole girl knew Robert was about to be on, especially since she was the plug.
its a good movie it is
@11:31 Christopher Maurice Brown? Oh, that's not-
i agree
I feel like Diane did all that shit on purpose lol
Me too, she did😊
@@anchanikafrancine3981yes once she watched those videos & saw what he had, she put her self in position to get him
Yeah she did, she was too casual asking him if his wife found her wallet and the apology was so flat and nonchalant .
You can’t tell me she wasn’t plotting the whole time
I mean that was the bish he cheated wit back in the day. Id b pissed too 😂
Malinda and everyone was crazy and she could have said no but he was manipulative she could have said no to the money 💰 giving to him
Loved the review, but that husband made me soooo mad
The ending was trash but we can't expect more from Tyler Perry so......
That's why an Acrimony 2 coming out
@@keepsit100atalltime9 🙄
One of the sisters was Nancy from the oval.
And they never said if she finished college.

I was not pleased with the ending tho.
