They was gaslighting the fuck out of Effie the entire movie . But I’m not gonna lie that one part when Effie and Deanna was going back and forth about what kind of woman a man wants Effie shaded Deanna crazy when they asked Curtis 😂 The only innocent person in the movie was Magic . This soundtrack is played faithfully in my household and car , idc who’s looking when I’m singing it 😂

Curtis, CC, and Deena were the most villainous. I like Effie's version of One Night Only, too. I Meant You No Harm/Jimmy's rap is very catchy. Curtis wanting Deena to play a 16 year old in that movie reminded me of Diana Ross playing Dorothy in The Wiz. Cadillac Records is Beyonce's best role. Have to go listen to the Dreamgirls soundtrack now.

That one and "Love You I Do" are my favorites. - Beyonce was nominated for a Golden Globe Award for Best Actress in a Musical or Comedy for her performance in the movie. The original Broadway production, Jennifer Holliday and Sheryl Lee Ralph was both nominated for Best Leading Actress in a Musical at the 1982 Tony Awards and Jennifer ended up winning. I always wonder why Jennifer Hudson was placed in the Supporting Actress category when the character Effie was the main character. - Eddie Murphy should won the Oscar for this. He was robbed. This is one of Eddie's best acting performances. - Dreamgirls was what The Color Purple should have been if the director Blitz Bazawule would have stayed true to the Broadway version and didn't make too many changes and take out majority of the songs.
Effie isn't the lead character. it's deana. That's the whole point of the movie. Effie was the real talent in the group but was pushed to the side for Deana who had the look. But in the end, talent always rises to the top. love this movie
