Aurigny Dornier 228NG Review SOU-ACI-GCI

- Today we'll be flying onboard a very interesting aircraft, the Dornier 228NG. Aurigny originally bought 4 of these aircraft to replace their ageing fleet of Britten Norman Trislanders, to operate in and out of the tiny Alderney airport. Alderney has a runway of just 800 meters, so a special STOL (Short takeoff and landing) aircraft is needed to fly passengers in, and the Dornier 228 meets those requirements. The aircraft is officially based from Guernsey airport, due to its much larger maintenance facilities, but it operates from Alderney to both Guernsey and Southampton for passenger service.

Very cool! The 228 is such a versatile aircraft
Indeed it is. I've been on both G-ETAC and G-OAUR to ACI many times. (Edit) I just realized this is a video game account.
Nice. I have a place in Alderney, and knew the Trislanders well, but I find the 228s are so much more comfortable and fast.
Great vlog ; sweet memories flew on this airline from Guernsey to Jersey in the 1980s. Cheers from Nova Scotia, Canada.😎
Thank you and wow! Was that on the Trislander?
I can only do one trip report a year. You’re a lucky man.
Hopefully you'll be able to fly more in the future!
Hopefully!
I miss their Trislanders.
Same!
Being on the flight path to Southampton and not being into aircraft the time of the trislanders, these are the most interesting that fly in, in my opinion
Nice trip report, there very interesting flights you did, I have liked the video
Thank you!
@@Aviation18 it’s ok

@@Aviation18 Ok
We pronounce it Or reany and the aircraft is Go Oar
Great video watching from Toronto Canada 🇨🇦
Thank You!
Best job I ever had was flying a Dornier 228 for FR (Cobham) Aviation. 9 fantastic years.
Trislanders also flew to Dinard and some rare.times to.Saint.Brieuc just 35:miles west of Dinard.
They were small and great.!...
Used to do this route alot in the summer
Awesome!
Great. Waiting for a airport update video.
Thanks and I'll have my next flight video out on Friday and then an airport update the Friday after that, however I may have an unboxing or two in-between that
Yes, on the trislander
Nice flight
Thanks
Fun Fact: The DO228 can operate at Lukla Airport.
Nice!
Thanks!
Best plane do. 228
It is a very nice aircraft!
The Joey was the best as it was bigger then what we have now
I don't quite know if it was bigger, the Trislanders could only seat 14 while the Dorniers seat 19, but it was definitely a very cool plane!
@@Aviation18 I remember when you could sit next to the pilot that plane was well good
@@allwalksoflife6987 Well the Dornier isn’t too bad for that either, I believe now they have to have 2 pilots unfortunately so you can’t sit right next to the pilot, but check out my view at 7:50
Please can you tell me where you found the FedEx 757-200 model I have been looking all over for it. If yoy can please tell me where you got it I would really appreciate that. Have a good day and week
I bought that a long time ago so it won't be there anymore so your best bet would be eBay and Thanks man, you too!
@@Aviation18 thank you so much just wanted to see and love you videos thanks
Nice.
Thanks!
Do they not have E190s as well??
They have one E195, and that's the plane I'll have a video on next Friday!
@@Aviation18 oh ok. Thanks 😁
Nice work! For your next airport update, we’re hoping for DCA and would request a route to BTV on American Eagle E175. Also, Air Canada is back flying from YYZ and YUL on CR2s. BOS airport update would be great too, especially with American A319s for the shuttle routes. Keep up the great work!
Thanks man and if you leave that on my latest DCA update so I'll remember when recording my next one!
Cool :)
Thank You!
@@Aviation18 no problem 😀
Geoff Marshall!!!!
I had the same reaction 😂
Another trip report
Yessir!
Did he say 'Honey', or Aurigny?. I prefer if its called honey airlines....lol.
😂 It's spelt Aurigny but pronounced "Orny" which does kinda sound like Honey
I live in the islands. It’s actually pronounced Or-ree-nee.
Definitely not pronounced Orny. I think you to need to correct this.
Hm
Hm?
Yes
You end every sentence in a really odd, dragging way.
I've realised this with a lot of my older videos. I think it was an effect of reading from a script. I don't think I do it as much in my newer videos though, I'm curious for feed back if you think this has gotten better?
You need to learn how to pronounce Aurigny
