I did, too... Cried all the way through the entire week of episodes during Laura's return. I sadly didnt see it as it originally aired 30+years ago, so it was just as powerful watching, 30+years after the fact... Even the corresponding music was tear-jerking when it called for it and even in the funny moments. the music was quippy and humorous...

So powerful, in interviews they've all said, that the emotions and tears on her return were genuine. Genie/Laura was missed by all and when she came back it was as if the world had stopped just for her. Such a beautiful, sweet, woman.
As with Luke's reaction when he first saw Laura. So visceral and from the gut. Not like now where a person like Nicholas returns and they're sorta surprised for like a second and then they're just mad and over it. Like nothing happened. (Granted I think the impact would've resonated had it been Tyler Christopher who returned and then Nicolas Beechtel and not Nu Spencer but still. It's a trend. People come back from the dead and there's hardly a reaction)

I never paid attention to Lesley's character ever. But watching her stories now, she was just a great actress and character. I wish I had paid more attention to her.

There is just no way that TG wasn’t in love with her. They are adorable... the way they interact, the way he kisses her. From an old Southern Saying “ TG is so sweet I could eat him with a spoon.” I too miss GH in those days. The writing was great & before TG left GH the writers made TG such a pathetic creature. Re-watching these scenes, I remember how good the writing and acting were (even the comic timing). But there's something else - the music. It was iconic. Even the little funny sounds when something humorous happened. Whoever was behind that should get an award.

Me too! Robert and Holly were so cute. And for those that said they dressed Holly like she was 50 even though she was in her 20s , I think because she is British. In the 80s they had a stereotype of what a brittish person would dress like and they went with it. You know, proper and stiff. It was terrible, looking back. Lol. Holly looked 40 in her suits . No girl her age, British or not unless they were a royal, would dress that way. Maybe that was it. Everyone obsessed with princess Diana. Maybe they were hoping to cash on on that British Royalty fascination with a Holly character. :-)
You have to appreciate the entirety of Lesley and Laura’s story, that yes included Luke. Going back further Laura was a child Lesley was told was dead, a child she so much wanted. When she found her adopted by the Vinings, we got to see year after year how close the two grew. Denise and Genie really managed to create a mother daughter bond that was as close as a mother and daughter can get without actually being so. It’s terrific acting and chemistry.
Yeah, this is a very unnatural, unreal situation to have to play. There is almost no way to imagine how a scene like this would really play out. But Denise Alexander does a wonderful job. She makes it seem as "real" as possible.

@@KDL861 I was mistaken. It aired in the early 60's. Guiding light was on the. Radio from 1937 that was cancelled after 70 + years. My apologies. I haven't thought about it for years. My mom and I did watch it together in the mid 70's together. Sorry for the mix-up
