I think those scenes were longer, due to the actors. My understanding is Anthony Leary has won the most Daytime Emmys for his portrayal of Luke Spencer. And Jonathan Jackson has won the most Day Time Emmys as young actor!!! And also the most nominations!!!! Whereas the actor who plays Jack on Y & R ( Peter Bergman) I think is his name, has been nominated the most # of times as lead actor in a soap opera.
This was the last great Luke and Laura story - Luke was Luke, Laura was Laura, GH was GH, laying the foundation for future storytelling that was meant to build upon a rich and brilliant history. Unfortunately, bad executive decisions, backstage drama, network failures, the dismantling of a time-honored genre would slowly chip away at what was once a great TV institution. GH died a long time ago.
Well said. So many classic and decent characters have been rewritten as villains, s/l so preposterous they're hard to watch, and scripts that don't merit even being taped. I haven't watched GH in years, but have viewed many of the clips provided here. I really miss the all-around quality of the episodes produced at that time. The late Gloria Monty was largely responsible for that, and kudos to her for revolutionizing the soap genre. But I'm amazed at the steep decline of GH since 2000-presently. GH is so far gone, I don't think it can even be resuscitated (sad pun intended:(.

Poor Lucky. He just found out he has an older brother. Nicholas coming to town ruined Luke and Laura I believe. Luke had so much anger that Laura has a Cassadine son. It consumed him and took a toll on their marriage.

Lucky was always a spoiled, immature, know-it-all, narcissistic brat just like his father. Jonathan Jackson's portrayal of Baby LukeBrat rings true and was spot on. In this scene, neither father nor son are capable of sympathizing, let alone empathizing with Laura's trauma of being kidnapped, sexually assaulted, and imprisoned. Father and son are great at blaming the victim. They are just fine with their continual lack of accountability toward others for their own mistakes; for their own failures as human beings. Instead, both Luke and Lucky put all of their energy into perfecting their ongoing, unchanging, mewling, puking rants of "me, me, me ..." Thank goodness Lucky eventually fell into the virtual void of Soap oblivion.
Actually Laura was kidnapped in 1982 and she never appeared on the show until she return in 1985. So Nikolas was born between 1983-1985 so he should be about 13-11 here
Laura was kidnapped in January of 1982 and returned late 1983. Luke and Laura left the show together in early 1984 and returned for a brief time in late 1984 for the first part of the Aztec Treasure storyline in Texas and Mexico (which introduced Felicia and Sean). During that story arc Laura announced she was pregnant.
No Jonathan Jackson is amazing and he is just following script. Maybe an adlib here and there, but I think they’re all great, the Spencer’s are a beautiful family and one of the best GH ever had!
I really wished the writers depicted the kinship between Carly and the Spencers better. It always seems like she is not a Spencer even though she was surrounded by so many of them since Luke and Laura and Lucky and Lulu and Bobbie all lived in Port Charles with her for so many years before she had her own family with Sonny.
GREAT scene! I was always confused. I thought Starvros raped Laura but in retrospect it sounds as if she gave herself to him willingly because she thought Luke was dead and her life in Port Charles was over. This storyline had so many crazy twists and turns. The scariest and saddest part was believing the Cassadines killed Lesley Webber when in fact it was the head writer at the time who was trying to make the actress Denise Alexander pay for encouraging Genie Francis to leave the show years prior.
He gave her the option to be a locked up prisoner or a roaming prisoner. If none of his options were you can leave with no consequences then she had no choice in the matter that means it was rape. It's always confused me that they never say it.
Lucky met Nikolas. Laura had left Nikolas, to see Luke - November 1983. She saw him become Mayor. I do remember that Stavros “hinted” about a child before he “died “!! He said it “didn’t end with him “ . Stavros that was frozen , and in thawed told them things only the original Stavros knew, it was just the 3 of them in the room. ., like the colour of Laura’s robe.
No Stavros at that time did not "hint" at anything as no one knew that would be the s/l years later. When that was filmed TG was leaving the show and GF only returned to usher him off. No one knew that they would return 10 yrs later with Lucky. Just as Stavros being frozen came years later.
So this is the reason gh writers and excs came up with the convoluted story of Ethan being Luke and Holly's son. Because A.Geary was bothered by them giving GF, (Laura) an outside child Nickolas Cassadine by his mortal enemies the Cassadine Clan. Ridiculous to think in '87 Holly and Luke got together and had an affair when she (Holly) was presumed dead from an airplane crash (she and Luke met up and had a one night roll in the sack) in Australia. While Robert sift & searched the wreckage, to find her body!? Ethan is a true Scorpio I wish they right/write this wrong.

They all were victims of Stavros and Helena But I so wish Luke had been able to get over his animosity towards Nik sooner. Nik was a great combination of his mother and father, thanks to his uncle.
I certainly can see why both GF & AG felt stymied by L & L. They both wanted to play new parts and expand their exceptional talents. It's just unfortunate that by appeasing them both, the resulting characters and plots became cumbersome at times. It can't be easy to work in soaps, or be part of the legendary L & L and the inevitable typecasting that followed, especially for TG. But IMHO, the quality of the show suffered due to TPTB's capitulation to the actor's suggestions and demands, along with many other aspects of the production of GH.
Lulu and the baby that played starr ( before kristen) on oltl at this time were the cutest babies ever. Poor lucky that's gotta be so hard to hear at 14 u have an older brother. Im.glad luke stuck up for Laura she was a prisoner & she just gave up and slept with Stavros .
Luke was a classic adrenaline junkie. He just had to constantly live on the edge. Laura certainly went along for the ride, which made for some highly entertaining s/l. But, when she had children, Laura found she enjoyed mother hood and a steady place to hang her hat. Luke could never adjust to life in the suburbs. He just had to drink hard and live harder. After a gang stormed their home and Laura actually had to shoot one of the intruders before he killed Luke, I think that was the last straw for her. Kids, suburbia, and mob violence don't mix.
laura had nikolas at around the end of 1982 or beginning of 83 when stavros had her captive so makes nikolas 13 here but he looks like hes 18 19 here. and lucky was born in 85 do hes 11 here but he looks like hes 15 or 16 here there ages dont match the date.
People say Luke and Laura's love on the show was so special but I remember watching this show as a kid they had love for each other but their love started off very wicked cause I do recall Luke raping Laura.

Most babies hair color doesn't fully develop until later my uncle was born blonde by his 2nd b day brown locks

I was born with a full head of black hair. It all fell out, grew back blond, and changed to dark brown when I was two.
