    too bad you bought that. It will be crapping out in no time. You should have found an older Whirlpool direct drive washer.

    • @cnnw3929
      @cnnw3929 6 лет назад

      I have an older Kenmore direct-drive washer. I totally disassembled and rebuilt it to factory specs myself. They call it a "shredmore". LOL. But hey, it works like new. It's always good to have a spare in case the new one quits. :D

    • @brianseeney1364
      @brianseeney1364 6 лет назад

      What do you mean by you rebuilt it to factory specs?

    • @cnnw3929
      @cnnw3929 6 лет назад

      It means just that. I disassembled the whole machine, until I was all the way down to the tripod. Then, I inspected and purchased parts, piece by piece. OEM parts. I took apart the transmission, every internal part, and went over everything, starting with the internal oil seal and buying brand new OEM parts as needed. Replaced the brake, the clutch, motor is 100% in perfect health. I replaced the pressure line, but the wiring was still like new. Reassembled the whole kit with new agitator feed dogs to top everything off. It runs smooth, and quiet. I might say, it is quite a collector piece, being a 24" machine while others are 27". My Kenmore was marketed as a specialty item; a full-capacity machine made to fit in a compact space. It was also originally priced accordingly when new.

    • @brianseeney1364
      @brianseeney1364 6 лет назад

      I don't know why you would go through all that money and trouble. Why not just fix something if it breaks?

    • @cnnw3929
      @cnnw3929 6 лет назад

      It was leaking oil in the transmission, and also was gummed up on the outer tub from its prior owner using too much detergent over many years of use. So it had to be disassembled and cleaned anyway, and I had to go clear through the transmission to get to the oil seal. That's when I made my decision to actually build me a new machine from this one, because I know they don't make anything as good as these direct drives anymore. Others have told me that a direct-drive Whirlpool or Kenmore is worth fixing and rebuilding, regardless of the cost, because parts are still plentiful and inexpensive.

    I own this exact washing machine for about 3 months. I constantly goes out of balance during the spin cycle. If you wash sheets, they are always in a big tight knot. I thought this would be a great machine because of the deep fill option after seeing youtube video. I WOULD NOT RECOMMEND!

  • @Tom17090
    @Tom17090 7 лет назад +6

    Whatever you do, do not, DO NOT throw in one item that will absorb a lot of water, like a bathroom carpet or a single beach towel. What will happen is, the machine will go off balance almost immediately and during the spin cycle, will walk across the floor! BOOM BOOM BOOM!
    The machine also needs to be very level, unfortunately, even using a carpentry-type level, it's not easy to do, since the level will show different readings depending on what part of the machine it is resting on. You may have to try different level settings and test them by cycling the machine.

    My husband bought this model for my stepson. He used it for about a year. When his lease was up he moved to a place that had a washer, so we got it back. My samsung front load was in good shape, but always had problems with the door lock breaking. It had been replaced 3 times, in 6 months. So we decided to give this one a try, since we had it. The spin cycle is so violent, the washer has to be held in place. My husband has leveled the machine multiple times. Taken the lid off to check springs and straps. Everything looked ok, but it doesn't sound ok. I'm currently checking for replacement parts on straps and springs to see what this model takes. GE, needs to recall the product with so many consumer complaints. Thank you, for your video.

    • @NYCcat
      @NYCcat 5 лет назад +2

      I check the website every week looking for the recall. I know with all the complaints and concerns about the machine GE should be getting their acts together and protect us consumers. This machine is a nightmare!! I've had 2 other machines....15 years old each and never once did I have a technician repair. And believe me....6 family members at 5 loads a day, never a problem and this particular one doesn't last a year!!

    Hello...so you showed them your video and they said it was normal and nothing they could do or did they also send a tech out to review? I have been going back and forth with GE (3 techs out here) - all they do is adjust legs since they aren't here to see actually clothing being washed also say "normal" shaking, but this is no way normal!! I have videos like yours and worse. I also show the techs the videos and then they agree there looks to be issues, but because it can't be duplicated, GE isn't doing much but wanting yet another tech to come out!! This machine is very unstable and aggressive; if you use as GE advertised (larger piles fewer loads) it seems like the drum will rocket out of the top or go through the wall!!

      Hi- sorry for the delay. GE told me they couldn't do a thing since it was "OK". So... I bought this at Sears and their policy is free returns/exchanges within 30 days. I returned them and now have Sansung products. They work great, paid a bit more but Sears had a rebate for about that amount. So it was fairly even. It's a shame as I wanted to buy American. But GE did/does nothing.

    I really don't like these new GE washers. I preferred the older hydrawaves better. These new ones use disgustingly cheap motors that are undersized for what they have to do. Growling like crazy in agitation or spin mode. No 2018 washer motor should sound like this. Ever since GE got rid of the older filterflo washers in 1995, their machines have been complete decontented crap. The Profiles stunk, the Hydrawaves stunk slightly less, these new ones are a new benchmark in total and complete SHIT. I don't think a GE washer has ever been so bad. Cheap feeling, garbge quality, lousy reliability. Haier recently bought GE appliances. Oh, how they got RAPED! In the 1980s and before GE was a GREAT BRAND! You knew that if it said GENERAL ELECTRIC it was GREAT! I have a GENERAL ELECTRIC box fan from 1964. 54 years old WORKS LIKE IT'S BRAND NEW! What's the difference between a pile of shit and new GE appliances? Not much, except the pile of shit will eventually quit stinking.

    This washer sucks ass. I just moved in this apt and they have “updated” appliances. 1-Washer seems as if it doesn’t want to hurt my clothes feelings by it’s weak washing cylinder. 2- multiple clothes come out with dry spots all over the clothes for some odd 3 I’ve had two loads that came out with fine pieces of metal shavings as if a drill press was washing my clothes. Glad I didn’t buy this product. Although, their dryer is awesome.

    I’ve only had this washer for about a week. It does shake fairly violently. I am concerned it is going to tear itself up. It isn’t walking across the floor or anything like that. I like it otherwise tho. It cleans clothes really well. I can add more water if I want. I’ll put an update on here after I’ve had it a few months. The maytag commercial mvwp575gw washer is what I wanted to begin with, but it is almost twice as expensive.

    I wish I had seen this video before I bought my washer 2 months ago...I'm afraid to leave the house when I do laundry for fear of what might happen. I just did a load with 4 towels and a few other things and i was very careful loading it...but it was so out of balance and making such a racket during the spin cycle I thought it was going to explode. I paused it and had a very difficult time getting the lid to unlock so I could redistribute the weight, when I did unlock it almost all the towels had moved to one side....so much for the sensor that redistributes and balances the load.
    The manual and the website did not have good instructions on what to do when this happens and how to get the lid to unlock.
    This is my first GE appliance and it may just be my last.

    The manual says that this model is supposed to self-level. We have the exact same washer It has an RJ45 port on the rear which is a proprietary serial type port.
    The machines are made much lighter than they used to be and this type of shaking is not good at all. I recommend making sure that the machine is perfectly level and testing it with it empty of any items and at the lowest water level. If it cannot level itself in that fashion it has some real issues that need to be repaired. If it doesnt shake in that test keep increasing the water level. if it doesnt shake at all in those tests then start adding items to the loads in the tests. When it starts to shake you should find the max amout of items it can handle at that load level and settings. towels absorb a lot of water and it will easily throw off a malfunctioning washer. The longer it shakes like this the more damage it can do. Good luck.
    These ports are normally used by their techs to diagnose the machines not sure if its used in the field but Just putting these links out there so people dont attempt to plug the port into their router for their home network without the proper conversion hardware. which is not worth it I would imagine.

      GE sent a repair man out. and he said this is normal. i have the machine on a concrete pad and he thought that was perfect. i asked about the vibration pads and he felt they wouldn't do any good.
      After this was posted, i sent GE a link. they viewed it and suggested everything you did. when i informed them it was level, on concrete and the load was even, they had no answers.
      i've talked to sears and this is being sent back for another machine.
      i too wish i'd repaired the old unit..

      Darrell, I'm with you! I bought this machine from home depot 14 months ago. The salesman there highly recommended it. I'm convinced he must have received an extra kickback on the sale. No wonder GE is going bankrupt. I will not step foot in Home Depot again!

      It indeed appears normal for this model. We have this model and actually very happy with its performance. Wish it did not shake so much, but it does not walk on the floor (position on floor does not change which is the key). It definitely shakes less than a whirlpool washer we previously owned that we had in the same location which actually walked on the floor and vibrates more than the Maytag washer it recently replaced.

      It's normal for the machine to squirt some water in when the lid is closed after a pause. It is just the computer testing the weight, to see if anything new was added to the load, so it can adjust the water volume or other settings accordingly. You're good to go. :D

      I bought this washer a month ago. The government is causing them to let you have less water.
      My first two washers were GE and they were great. With this one you cannot get the water level above your clothes. They come out with the arm pits still a little smelly. I even tried adding a scoop of the new Oxy Clean smell removing powder with my detergent.
      Same thing because the machine will not give you enough water to wash your clothes. Get ready to have to hand wash your clothes before you wash them in this machine.
      Washing machines used to get your clothes good and wet and really clean. This piece of crap makes me wish the world would just end. I will be still paying for this 💩when it dies. Junk junk junk.
      The lights on the machine come on if you touch the machine to wipe up spilled detergent. Junk 💩

    HE washer are known to spin super fast so it might be normal. Which model of samsung did you buy? I've heard of them exploding so I'm a bit concerned.

    • @cnnw3929
      @cnnw3929 6 лет назад

      These new HE washers spin at around 800 RPM, while the older machines spin at 600. The higher speeds will generate considerably more torque, which will make the machine feel like it shakes. The higher GE models have a highly sensitive balance sensor, which will cause the machine to attempt a re-balance. If that does not prove successful, it will finish the cycle at a slower spin speed where not as much water is extracted from the load. I would say, the author of this video is a better candidate for a front loader which may do better at balancing the load, but will take more time to complete the job. Another option would be to learn how to restore an older direct-drive Whirlpool or Kenmore. Either way, there is a price to pay. The Kenmore will cost a lot of time and effort, while the front loader will cost several hundred dollars more than what we see on the video. Good observation, Native722.

    It's normal. I have seen the belts get stretched and cause lots of vibration. Seems like they get oilly from excess oil in the gearcase from the mfr. Clean the oil up and new belt may help or may do nothing. The GE/Haier washers has one heck of a high spin.

    This is the worst washing machine I have ever owned. I thought the last GE washer I bought was bad, it completely quit working immediately after the warranty expired. Why I bought another GE is beyond me. This machine NEVER puts enough water in it to wash clothes properly. I have to use Deep Fill every time. My whites are never clean. It does the same spinning thing so bad it walks out in front of my laundry room door and I have to go outside and come in through the garage to push it back into place. The worst thing about this machine is the electronic panel starts beeping and lights up at random times during the night or day. I can't wait for the day it explodes and I can get rid of it. NEVER BUYING ANOTHER PIECE OF GE JUNK APPLIANCES AGAIN?

Simply Hate this washer and it came with the house we bought

    The new The new machines are more lightweight and the higher spin speed to make it vibrate more this is completely normal. Repairman coming out AGAIN to fix the problem of the machine shutting down mid cycle (when it goes out of balance) then never coming back to life. Maybe GE needs to actually test these machines while a human is present. I can't understand how they let this product get on the market :-(

    I have had this washer for 5 months at our beach house so we don't use it very often, but it does not agitate at all... just a slow little turn like one turn of a wrench... Now it will not drain! This is the worst piece of crap ever. Does anyone know how to fix the drain problem without calling in service?

  • @psdaengr911
    @psdaengr911 4 года назад

    Unless the machine is perfectly level and on a solid surface (concrete or 1-1/2" multi-layer wood floor) any imbalance within a load spinning 700rpm will cause some shaking. If the machine does not move across the floor during spin of a heavy load, the floor is solid enough. Horizontal cabinet seams can be used as reference lines for leveling. Minimum clearances shown on the cabinet label should be observed. Write the serial number found on the machine (and the packing carton) on the Owners Manual and on your receipt.
    Owners Manual p 18 "Do not Install:NOTE:If floor is in poor condition, use 3/4" impregnated plywood sheet solidly attached to existing floor covering." If the floor is structurally sound but the surface is uneven, 1/4" Hardy cement tile backer board bonded with construction adhesive is an alternative.

    I have the same washer that was a replacement for THREE (3) Whirlpool washers that did the same thing. This GE washer does the same thing on high spin, so obviously it's normal, even if unacceptable. I HATE this washer. I did a load of clothes yesterday and the light went straight from wash to spin. The rinse light never even came on, even tho I think it did rinse. I really think is a "leveling" problem that I don't know how to fix. Lowes has been out here 4x and they don't know what they are doing.

    Such a shame. Even my relatively new Whirlpool top load with agitator is very stable throughout its cycles including the spin cycle. It spins incredibly fast too 1100 rpm. I hope you can get some resolution to this.

    I've had the same model for 1 week. Terrible shaking. Had repair man out on day 4. Said it's normal. The store is picking it up on Friday and exchanging for a maytag model. Hopefully it won't shake as much. It seems to be heavier and a little heavier gauge metal. The best part was I loved all the GE features on both the washer and matching dryer. I like a matched set so getting the matching dryer. Yesterday did a load of wash and the dryer won't heat up! Had it exactly one week! Can't wait til they're out of here!

    You either have a tub spring out of place and or an unbalanced load. The feet probably aren't adjusted properly either as the right side typically needs to be raised up to level out the tub. All very easy fixes.
