Ben, love your videos. Ive been a GE factory service tech for 7 years now. Just a tip if anyone is looking for a washer, buy direct drive, much more quiet during agitation.

@@bensappliancesandjunk your videos are definitely some of the better ones out there, so not yours. But there are a lot of videos and pages that give a minimal amount of information and tell you to call a tech; I am a tech, but I'm only a year in so I'm still learning a lot

My washer makes an eerie whining or oooooooing noise. I thought it was a ghost or a hurt animal outside. Help, please. Any ideas. It usually does this after it finishes washing and in the spinning cycle. Sounds like it is barely moving inside. Thanks for any comments or advice.
Hey I have this washer and it has made that awful grinding noise and here it turns out loose change slipped under the agitator. Do u have a video on how to get the change out. But now I wonder if the parts you show are bad in my washer or if it's the change causing it noise. PLEASE HELP THE NOISE IS DRIVING ME CRAZY!
Great vids...question...My GE washer (GTW680BPL1DG) makes a deep drone bass sound only during spin.....Im thinking tub bearing...your thoughts? Thanks in advance
Hello Possible to have videos of noise and what that indicates is the problem? My GE Top Load sounds like a high pitched wailing when ending the spin cycle. Thanks for your advice.
Fyi regarding agitator removal my GE model GTW220ACK6WW Just had one bolt down in the bottom. I had to use three long extensions to get. Did not have a place for a screwdriver. I just removed the cap at the top. Some of them have fabric softener dispenser on top. Pull that off and below it and you'll see the bolt at the bottom
This machine looks new why is it making a noise when it's not that old? WTH. These manufactures making junk. My grandparents had wash machines that lasted 20+ years.
Yep, they're junk! One year manufacturer warranty! I've got two of them right now. 4 years of use and clutch has gone out in it. If you want a washer that will last 10 years at least or more, get one with a 10-year warranty! Speed Queen. They make commercial washers or local washer store that fixes and refurbishes washer sells speed Queen new. You can buy a commercial grade one for your home
My transmission was gone out on it so the center shaft that does the agitation no longer turned From the motor it wasn't engaging anymore. Apparently the gears in the transmission were stripped out. I wonder if this is due to people putting too big a load in? And there's no clutch dogs like the old fashioned washers to wear out and replace.
Great video but i don’t think this is my issue. I don’t even know if I have an issue. Brand new GTW485ASWWB and sometimes it sounds like the Price is Right wheel in there. I’m not sure who to call so just searching the web for answers.
To remove the agitator you need to align the whole with the little bump/nipple with a screw driver. Do you push in with the screw driver then twist off?
My washer is 1 1/2 years old the bolt rusted off was in there moving around and the agitator came off the whole thing on its own so is there a part of the bolt down in the shaft now what do I do is it something I a housewife can do while my husband sits watching his soap operas I would love to do it on my own 🤔my first time doing this please can someone help me🙏🤗
Remove the nut which holds the pulley to the motor, then wiggle the pulley off the motor's shaft. It make take some effort, but it will eventually come off.
Nothing in the video seamed damaged. But I did notice my tub moves 100% independently of my agitator. and my clutch assembly was completely covered in oil. So, bad gear case?
My identical ge machine bangs and shakes terribly when spinning, sometimes, even after carefully balancing the items laying heavier towels and jeans on the bottom ... ugh
I don't have this same model, but it's a GE. I found this with mine as well. We have found if you use the bulky option (you'll be wasting water though), it will spin at a slower speed and it won't make as much of a racket. Not an ideal fix in any way, but it works and we found it doesn't leave lint on our clothes like the water saving modes. These water saving modes use way too little water.
@@xtos2001 Appreciate your response and this issue is the very reason I text Ben more than once that I would love to have the older analog, no digital hooey washing machine where you can open the lid at anytime to throw in some other item at will ...
@@bensappliancesandjunk Oy! Board update means digital hooey? I'm 73 and missing miniscus in both knees and believe me, even to bend over never mind bend down. It's a blessing to have that excellent cushion between your tibia and femur ... but I certainly appreciate your responding and I will continue to speak to the machine as Jesus said we should in Mark 11:23-24, "speak to the mountain", whether that mountain is a washing machine, cold, flu or missing miniscus, HE said it and I will not deviate from HIS Words. I have to admit, I've been declaring peace to the machine for over 2 years and it is no where near violent as the day I moved in ... it has calmed down bigly ... thanks again Ben and be Blessed and be careful and may you increase, you and your children in Jesus Name!!!
The basket in my Maytag top load washer had severe movement which caused the washer to move either left or right and would take longer to wash the clothes. I tried to even out the load, but it did not work. One day I looked at the washer to see if it was level. I noticed that the back side of the washer was 1" to 1-1/2" lower on the back side. I leveled the washer by adding wood blocks on the back side. Since I got the washer level, it's been working well so far. It is so quiet on the spin cycle, I couldn't tell if the machine was still on. It used to take an hour or so for the machine to complete its cycle, now it takes about 40-45 minutes. I hope this helps.
Why do you consistently say that something needs replaced or needs removed. You are indicating that the action has taken place. In reality it hasn't, therefore you should say it needs TO BE removed/ replaced.

In the next video, Im testing the GE belt-drive against an LG direct drive motor, very fascinating!
What oil or grease does GE use?
Test the agitation sound. I wish you could film the audio underneath so we can hear the motor particularly agitation.@@bensappliancesandjunk

is it normal to make noise ? mine is brand new and first wash there is a sound when its turning to "wash".. never heard that on any other machines

Pro-tip: Don't ugga dugga the agitator bolt. Bolt head is twice as big as the shaft. Figured out they snap more often than Whirlpools.

Yes thats correct
the agitator base won't come out of mine. I've already got the bolt out.

Remove the nut which holds the pulley to the motor, then wiggle the pulley off the motor's shaft.

Yes. Sand it and paint immediately.

They overload the gear cases with grease. It's possible it's caused an issue with the clutch assembly. I'd probably look at changing that for
My Amana started that awful noise, it may wash very slowly or make that noise and not do anything

Some of the older iterations of these need a board update because the spin cycle doesn't balance right

My GE tends to make an awful squeaky/ creaking noise when I put it on the “deep clean” cycle.
Idk what to do i put ever once of strange i had into twisting it and it doesn't budge doesn't matter what i do.
Use i strap wrench to take out the agitator. Its way earlier and faster
Where do you put the strap wrench at? I assume at the top I don't know how you'd get it around the bottom
LG top load washer, making squealing noises during agitate?
I'd take tub out , look underneath. Then same under the bottom.
Can anyone tell me why my drive belt is greasy?

I just replaced a gearcase for a customer this past saturday.

That tool would be a "gear puller".
