- Dominic Calvert-Lewin's late strike from the penalty spot earned Everton a hard-fought 1-1 draw with Newcastle United at St James' Park.
The Blues fell behind after 15 minutes when Alexander Isak latched on to a lofted pass and prodded into the far corner of the net.
But the Toffees toiled and, following a triple substitution on the hour mark following a VAR check to deny the hosts a second goal of the night, were much-improved in the second half and eventually got their equaliser two minutes from the end when Calvert-Lewin dispatched a spot-kick.

Finally get a pen and score. Hard earned point at Newcastle. Need to show a lot of the spirit seen in these highlights against Burnley at the weekend. Fortress Goodison has to be back in opperation.
Great to get something but that wasn't a great penalty either. It was very close to the keeper but at least he put his boot through it to force it in.

Our downfall started when DCl missed the penalty against Brighton in Benitez era. Since then we barely had a penalty. And now hopefully the start of our revival...

Newcastle goal was not offside. Pictures shown to ref were after ball kicked. Used to be a fan of Dummit, should never play for toon again.
Its beyond me how without a win since december, dwight mcneil plays minimum 75+minutes per match.
Lets be real, our center mids (as well as pickford) have been our best players all season.
Gomes has looked sharp every time he comes on, and not starting Garner was foolish. We should just find a way to start Onana, Garner, Gomes, Gueye, and let doucoure play shadow striker with DCL. Mcneil and Harrison have been worthless.
