  • Sigung CST demonstrates the power of Chum Kiu with various movements.
You will hear in the video an important point: "It doesn't matter which way or where you push on him (sigung), he just moves his arm where he wants it to go!" - this is the whole idea of practicing the forms and working on your power generation and structure - to develop the ability to move through an opponents resistance in whatever fashion you choose.

I found it similar to "single whip, dan bian" in tai chi chuan, "kokyu ho" in aikido

Nice video!I have a question: how do you find out if the person is a grandmaster? What's the difference between a master, grandmaster and great grandmaster? Thanks.

There is no official ranking system. He wouldn't of called himself a grandmaster or expect anyone to call him that. I guess it is a term affectionately used by followers of his system to show their respect and reverence for him.

He is my master's master, so that makes him my grandmaster. Ip Man is his master, so Ip Man would be my great grandmaster. It's similar to a family tree. Eg. father, grandfather, great grandfather.

As others have said, it is just a polite title rather than some sort of ranking. Titles in Chinese tend to follow family-lines. if you were Chu Shong Tin's direct student you would call him Sifu, not Sigung. If you were one of Ip Man's students but started later than Chu Shong Tin you might call him SiHing.
Just like how you call your mother, "mum" but your son calls your mother "grandma".
