Awesome! I thought I recognized the scenery when I clicked on the video. This was in 1988, I believe; I was a 19-year old college kid home for the summer in Coronado at the time, and heard Concorde was at that particular air show. I drove down and was there for one of the take-offs; having parked my car right past the end of the runway where I knew Concorde would fly over, and it sure did. I had never heard such a roar! It went directly over me, afterburners flaring. I took some pretty decent pictures, even capturing it right overhead with the gear doors open. Air France was providing "fantasy flights" to those who could pay $1,500 per ticket; Concorde flew halfway out to Hawai'i and back, and apparently the passengers were served lobster and champange.
I never ditched school. My Mum was one of the teachers. Concord visited our capital city and I didn’t care about the consequences and faked a sickness to stay home. I used to see the one that hung around Heathrow, never flew of course but sat on the hard stand and to see it next to a 747 was something else, wouldn't believe just how small the aircraft is...
Apparently the DH Trident was even louder, under certain circumstances...I can attest, I had an involuntary fear attack once, at a hotel near Heathrow London after watching three of them depart in succession..pounding heart, adrenaline rush...the sheer volume of noise was incomprehensible.

I used to work at an airport serviced by Concorde. I used to sit on the tarmac and eat lunch when it was flying out. They don’t allow that anymore
Four beautiful turbojet engines at full reheat.👍
I used to be jealous of people flying in the Concorde when it flew over my house.
I am convinced that it was better to be on the outside of Concorde. That's where the noise and the beauty are!
Really LOUD as Heck 😨
Such a gorgeous plane
I was there that day as a kid, it was definitely amazing.
Such a shame they got rid of the best plane ever built and never replaced it, I wish so much that they could bring Concorde back into service.
This was the only time I ever saw this jet.
@@GCast nice catch though
Julie Newell let’s sign a petition to resurrect the Concorde
The Concorde is coming back thanks to the Boom Company.
@@Gabri.El. Heard few days about that ... :)
Concorde, o avião mais belo que já existiu até hoje. Deveria voltar voar novamente.
My left ear liked that
Its really cool. I would probably not complain about it. Its actually just like the sound of ripping paper and i quite like it!
Such a pity I never got to see a Concorde takeoff in real life.
Nice one
The best of all time. 🏴
Truly a beautiful jet.
I was always proud to see it
I used to see the one that hung around Heathrow, never flew of course but sat on the hard stand and to see it next to a 747 was something else, wouldn't believe just how small the aircraft is...
I used to surf fish at jones beach and would see and hear it quite often coming and going to JFK. Incredible bird
That thing was deafening even on final landing approach, and that was with both my ears.
We want concorde back...😘
Magnifique le Concorde, magnifique
Eh oui ! Le voir décoller est toujours un ravissement pour les yeux.
Apparently the DH Trident was even louder, under certain circumstances...I can attest, I had an involuntary fear attack once, at a hotel near Heathrow London after watching three of them depart in succession..pounding heart, adrenaline rush...the sheer volume of noise was incomprehensible.
A beast born before time
Welcome to another day on RUclips
