When I see a picture of Rudy with a roomful of actors, he shines. He looks completely relaxed with his director and production people, He was championed by others with the studio bosses. He studied the camera and probably had a gift for projecting his expressions. His dressing and clothes were perfect. He worked hard to learn and didn't forget those who helped him along the way. He lived four or five lives. He was a true original, who was a great liver and lover of life. His medical treatment killed him. Unforgivable.

They need to do a better job of ‘cleaning up,” the Blu-ray version of “The Son of The Shiek!” It was disappointing, but his masculine charisma comes through! Wish we’d have a recording of his speaking voice, rather than the one song he recorded. Seemed to have had a very deep voice. One can only wonder if he would have a successful transition to sound....as Greta Garbo was able to do. Thank you so much for a quality presentation!
It's always a pleasure making these videos - and it's always a treat to come across clean or hitherto unseen footage of Valentino these days ... I have the suspicion our Rudy is slowly falling out of memory as his work does not seem to get the remastering it deserves. If I had the resources and know how I'd do it myself! What's more frustrating is the other suspicion that there are collectors out there with hidden reels of unseen lost films that they are jealously guarding ... Rudy's legacy has not been handled well.
