For a recording of that era I don't think that's a bad one at all. His voice is clear. Modern recording pros can take away that surface noise, too. For somebody who wasn't training to sing in his career, I think he does great. Had he lived into the talking era and musicals, I think he would have done just fine.

Kind of ironic his x wife lived a full life. Sad he was robbed of that. Only if he lived when medical advances strived he would had been saved. I consider myself lucky too. I would have been dead many years ago.
