This is a great thing that people should invest in. Everybody should play the great game of chess, but that's all it is, a game. It doesn't make you smarter or any of those stuff. It may discipline you and improve your critical thinking

improving critical thinking is indeed a form of increasing intelligence.

Agree, I hate that some chess players think that they are smarter than other people..

In the thumbnail how could blacks bishop end up on f1 and black has two dark squared bishops and the king and queen are on the wrong starting positions for both sides. I hate seeing these mistakes especially in movies. This is the wrong thumbnail for this video.

In the first place it is very difficult to define "smart",but chess can't possibly hurt in the development of your brain, infact it makes your brain work hard and therefore it developes it...it may not make you a genius but it makes you better at certain tasks like pattern recognition, calculation and planing etc.

Nobody says it makes you smarter, but you do have to be smart to master it, it's not luck that the greatest players of all time were super-geniuses and it does help keep your mind ticking, it is a very good skill and daily activity for you.
