The weather was perfect, not to crowded, just amazing. We even got to go to a sermon giving by the Pope. Your tricks and tips were so helpful, thank you.

    Yes ! When I was in Napoli ...
    You really get a sense of that ' Living everyday like it's your last ' mentality ...
    ~ Living in the shadow of a volcano ...
    ~ Exemplified by the seemingly seemingly chaotic TRAFFIC behavior ...
    The rule there if you are trying to cross the road is
    you just gain eye contact with the person in the car so you know you can cross ...
    It's quite the same with any line of people in a store ( more in the South ) ...
    There seems to be no sense of fair lines as we are used to living in america .
    .. often there is NO LINE ... it's just a cluster of people ...
    Just act like you can't wait , you're in a hurry , you have to go ..
    Everyone .. especially in the South acts like the house is on fire and they have to be in the front of the line .. I noticed this most in the airport from London to Napoli ...
    The departing flight was announced all the Neapolitans just crowded in a big mass at the gate ; no line !
    Not wrong ... just cultural difference . Just good to know what to expect !

    It is always generalized between north and south. it is true that in Italy motorists stop much less than abroad at the pedestrian crossings. But there is a huge difference between center-south-/north/ear north. Under Rome driving is wild, at third world levels .. in the north it is almost normal ..
    And I assure you that in Val d'Aosta, Upper Lombardy, Upper Piedmont, Veneto, Trentino Alto Adige Friuli Venezia Giulia, the rules of the road are respected a lot.

The thing you're paying extra is not actually the table but the time of the waiter that will serve you if you sit, so if you serve yourself you can actually just sit. Just FWI. Great video tho! Thank you very much for your kind words! It depends on the attraction, but unfortunately most of the time there are no places to sit while in line and bathrooms are hard to come by. Maybe you can take turns while waiting in line or buy skip the line tickets (private tours is another good solution.) Inside the museums, galleries, etc you will have a restroom of course.

    As an Italian and a biochemist, I drink a glass of wine with a meal, except for breakfast when I only drink tea. I lived four years in Japan where I found drunkards on the verge of alcoholic coma, sprawled out on the street or even girls throwing up. My husband is a British Naval Officer, but he doesn't drink, he's practically a teetotaler. A rarity because even the British are into shots of whisky even in the morning. Gin and Tonic before dinner on an empty stomach...

  • @bloopville
    @bloopville Год назад +2

    Two common pieces of advice that I often hear are "Don't order cappuccino after 11" and "Don't put anything on your pizza."
    These are truish, but not 100% true. Almost every bar is quite willing to make you a cappuccino at any time of the day. Even in my very rural area, they are used to foreigners drinking a cappuccino (cappuccio in my area) in the afternoon. They will make it with a smile on their face. You won't be kicked out of the country, so enjoy one in the afternoon, if you like.
    As for pizza, it is quite common to put hot chili oil (olio piccante) on a pizza, especially a Diavola or it's variants.

    A comment on some group tours of the Vatican Museums and Basilica.
    The former is too rushed and you barely get to marvel at the art. Sure, guides usually give good explanations but really nothing that is not in a good museum guide book. if you are in one of these tours, make sure to stay back in the museum before they bring you to the Basilica (which a guide may even though it's not part of the tour).
    On the Basilica and climb to cupola/dome tours: The tours should really bring people into the Basilica first, before the crowds pour in. Instead, they take you up to the dome first, but there are massive lines waiting to take the lift. So, while those in the tours are stuck for 30 or more minutes, the Basilica is relatively empty. By the time the tour group is back down, the Basilica is full of people already. Totally negates the purpose of "early entry into the Basilica".
    My point is ... just book the tickets yourself, be among the first in line and DIY.

      usually the "fave" do sustain allergic behavior and the places where you can suffer from it do inform customers.if you collect mushroom have them examined in a pharmacy in most cases its free of charge. but to be allowed to collect mushrooms you have to be resident therefore not a tourism.

    And YES ...
    That really is a BIG difference ....
    The culture of drinking is pretty responsible in Italy ...
    There is no mindset of drinking to get wasted and act a fool as we often have in america ...
    And thier sense of PROTEST / MARCHES for change too is normal
    and seen an important part of being a responsible citizen .
    Whereas in america, protests are seen as a nuisance or a ' liberal ' thing ..

    • @alexRM58
      @alexRM58 2 месяца назад +2

      Hi. if there is a free table inside, you can sit. Outside, you have to tell the waiter, or at the bar counter. Then it depends on the place: if it's luxurious, or in historic or tourist squares, or you see the waiter outside, ask for a table. It depends, but don't worry: look at the service staff and ask anyway! 👍

    Hi may I ask about taking official cabs in Rome, whether it's safe, and will all drivers go by the meter and not over-charge? Will cab drivers help to load luggage into the boot or should we do it ourselves? If I don't see any taxi stand, can we flag down a cab on the street? Will all cabs accept credit card payment? If I want to pay in cash, is that ok? Thanks.

    • @StayFabulousTL
      @StayFabulousTL  Год назад +1

      I recommend downloading a taxi app like Free Now and using it to call a cab. Sometimes if you get a cab on the street and they see that you are a foreigner, they up charge you. The driver is suppose to help you with the luggage. It's not common to flag down a cab, but I managed to do it a few times. As far as the credit card - its a bit tricky. Most of them can accept credit cards, but often they give the excuse that the card reader isn't working. So it really depends on the taxi driver. I recommend to have some cash on you just in case.
