As a Texans fan that's when a lot of us knew. The way he so effortlessly didn't care about crunch time and making those throws when he made them. And when the it came out that he said to his O-line "Give me some time, and I'll win this game" I was like nahh he's different
Algorithm brought me here but damn, I love your breakdown. Technical and interesting but broken down simple enough so I can understand. Just subscribed.
Great Break downs, I wish you covered more on the pass blocking. That 3rd down against Cincinnati had perfect pass blocking how they picked up the stunt.
Hey Billy you think we could get a breakdown on Lamar Jackson's new Monkin offense and how it differs from greg romans and how lamars passing has evolved since ur last video on lj8? The best breakdowns on RUclips hands down
If Stroud has a successful second year, you know he's legit. Sometimes it takes a year of tape for other teams to figure a guy out, exploit his weaknesses. This season, if they still can't figure out Stroud, he'll mop up the NFL.
Lol, there is nothing the defense can do. This kid throws with anticipation and can read the defense just like Manning and Brady.. Watch all the tape you want he'll just find the open guy. Only way to stop him is a pass rush.
You should continue the Series Brett Coleman did but abandoned on the NFL's official channel where he combined aspects of different players to create the perfect player at each position (example for edge rushers: Von's ghost move, Micah's explosiveness, Garret's power). Would really love to see your take on this type of video, especially ones on edge rushers and linebackers. The vids were called creating the perfect running back/receiver if you need to find it. I think it would be a major hit for you and wouldn't take very long to make in comparison to these player breakdowns.
This is why Stroud will keep winning: he’s not beating teams with anything novel, rushing like Lamar/hurts or farve-ing it like Allen, he’s beating defenses at 1967 football. Simply dicing DBs on normal routes from the pocket with insane timing and accuracy. Wtf is film gonna do there? He’s just really, really good.
you know how some teams just always matchup incredibly well against certain teams no matter the record? The Panthers have always been the bane of the Texans.
Nah he's on the cusp of being a top 5-7 QB. He's still doing his thing from 2023 and trying to save the offense from late and long passing downs because of how horrid the offense is on first downs. In part to OL penalties setting the team back on early downs and no real answer to a run game despite being insistent on it on those early downs. There aren't many QBs outside of your super freaks (Allen, Lamar, Mahomes) who is trying to generate offense in the pocket by slingin' it deep and daring some tight windows.
Awesome content! I would love to see a breakdown of Ja’Marr Chase’s game! What makes him good? Is he a good route runner? How does he win? Does he really belong in the elite tier of receivers?
Wait until the middle of this season when teams have enough film on him and defenses start taking away what he does best. Last year may well have been a fluke. Wait until you anoint people the next great thing.
I'd pump the breaks, in reality he went 9-6 and had 23 tds lol. They kinda won the division by default. Jags were on pace for a top seed and lost QB and WR , Colts lost all their players.. not to mention there were a few games Texans were down big and they just let Stroud air it out for garbage stats.
@slimhardaway8 Yea. 9-6 with 23 tds.. and probably could have been worse if not for his entire division getting injured. Not saying he sucks, u just think media and fans need to pump the breaks on his already a mvo favorite, and Texans are SB favorites haha. Imagine if Allen, Burrow went 9-6 with 23 tds
You know that the Texans also faced key injuries right? They had a banged up O Line, Tank Dell went down, and had games were Nico missed time. I really doubt you watched any games if you think he got garbage stats.
@josephbanker3829 Context is key. The Texans were expected to be terrible and were considered an awful place for a rookie QB to land. Stroud was massive in making the Texans competitive again. The Texans had their own share of injuries as well. CJ looked liked a franchise QB year 1. Anything can happen moving forward but for now the future looks bright.
I do tend to agree Stroud is awesome. That said, Defensive Coordinators now have actual tape on him and the Houston offense. Wouldn’t be surprised to see the classic sophomore slump as coordinators and defenses throw roadblocks that he struggled with. It’s very much these next 20-25 games that will tell if he’s great. For a rookie he was very ahead of the curve.
Joe Burrow did not have a sophomore slump, neither did Herbert, or Andrew Luck or any of the top elite QBs who had great rookie seasons. The only way to beat Stroud is to take away his WRs and good luck to any team to be able to do that this season. Now Stroud is going to have 3 number 1 WR talents and Joe Mixon, so i would not bet on a sophomore slump unless you like to lose money.
@@jakewoodisgood1 We are talking about CJ Stroud. The history of the position usually has Sophmore Slumps either toward the end of rookie season or beginning of second season. Strouds game has layers and multitudes and sure he could be an outlier like Herbert was but acting like that’s a normal thing for even superstar QB’s isn’t practical. Herbert was viewed as bulletproof superstar after second season because he didn’t have a slump but even then he had a bit of a lull near the end of his 1st year and beginning of 2nd. Burrow has an injury but his slump started before the injury on his rookie year. If you weren’t aware of this , Teams Defensive coordinators only get real film on rookies after a decent amount of games in nfl. The film they use on every other team in the league. That’s why so many players in the last 15-20 years of watching football start to struggle after that mark. You’ll see it this year for any of the rookies that start right away. It’s an actual thing that isn’t talked about often. The data changes on people who are allowed to sit first year but that’s a different conversation. A slump for him might look like a solid season for others tbh I’m not taking anything away or saying last year was a fluke just being realistic in my optimism before crowning a QB “Great” let them actually get 35-45 games under there belt. You gotta understand , maintaining healthy training, diet, managing generational wealth when maybe you haven’t;t had a ton of money, family expectations, expectations from fans, all while Defensive coordinators are trying to limit you after having more and more telling tape on you all while you are in your early 20’s . Acting like Strouds game is flawless and that the only thing that could possibly hold him back is his WR’s and the defenses ability to “take away” his wr’s is just unrealistic.
@VinegarAndSaltedFries With Houston adding weapons around Stroud ,hopefully that will mitigate any sophomore slump. The Texans roster was still essentially rebuilding last year. This Texans team is more talented and should not have to overly rely on Stroud to win every game thru his arm alone.
The dude is a general, plain and simple. It's incredible, just how good he already is. Great video breaking-down his talents.
That game against the Bucs really changed the complexion on how the world views Stroud and the Texans as a legitimate football team.
As a Texans fan that's when a lot of us knew. The way he so effortlessly didn't care about crunch time and making those throws when he made them. And when the it came out that he said to his O-line "Give me some time, and I'll win this game" I was like nahh he's different
We knew cj was good before but He showed us he was clutch in that game @@yO-qw5mq
That game was amazing, the back and forth made it such a good game
4:05 that throw anticipation is just a thing of beauty, if he does that consistently he’ll have a long career
i'm excited to see what he does this year.
Algorithm brought me here but damn, I love your breakdown. Technical and interesting but broken down simple enough so I can understand. Just subscribed.
Nice breakdown...enjoyed your video and thoughts.
Great Break downs, I wish you covered more on the pass blocking. That 3rd down against Cincinnati had perfect pass blocking how they picked up the stunt.
That last pass was all-world, he reminds me of Boomer Esiason, just right handed.
Stroud just has the "IT" factor, he's a rookie with the patience and vision of a seasoned vet
Hey Billy you think we could get a breakdown on Lamar Jackson's new Monkin offense and how it differs from greg romans and how lamars passing has evolved since ur last video on lj8? The best breakdowns on RUclips hands down
He made that game winning drive look so easy against Tampa
He made 2 key throws against tampa bay..and im a titans fan
Much deserved credit to the OC
Billy is back 💯
Great video!
Great video! Excited to see him play this season
great work!
I just think it’s funny that the s2 nonesence had people thinking he was dumb😭
10:38 the cameraman falling and rolling to get out of the way😂

Fam is actually the main character, failed the intelligence test but still a genius at QB
A good OL helps any field general. If he has at least the same year as he had last year, some seriously good FA OLs might be tempted to join the fun.
he's gonna be great for a long time. for sure mvp candidate this season

3 weeks in a row just stick it in already😩😫
0:27 why is bijan robinson’s highlight here lol
Defenses don't have film on Stroud, Stroud has film on defenses.

BUCKEYES 🤘🏿
I've interacted with people who really believe CJ Stroud is overrated.
Who cares tho? They’re probably the same people that thought Cj stroud would be a draft bust and lead the Texans to a 2 win only season
Cj will put up around 433 yards next Sunday.
The fact that he is a good christian man is the icing on the cake. Far cry from watson.
Too early to say still. Wait till after this season

I agree that CJ Stroud is the next big thing. Top 5 in the league for the next decade
