Really enjoyed the video as always. Btw before adding the keerai seeds, you have to burn hay, (waikkol) or dried coconut leaves in that cleaned area on the soil. Then all the unwanted weeds will die and only keerai will grow. That's the method we used to do. I watched this as soon as it was posted, I'm really happy and appreciate the effort you and your husband is doing, you are a good example for others when even well educated people can do farming. Wish all your farming will be more successful this year!

Punitha, very nice to see your keerai thottam! Good try! Just want to share my experience over here in US. We grow them in trays and then transplant on raised beds (beds are covered using weed covers to control the weeds) where we have multiple rows on each beds. Please don't pull keerai (specifically thandukkerai's - green & red) and sell them. You can cut them and bunch it. It will keep growing for few months. Please try this to harvest continuously!
Make the beds like you did for your watermelons with two or three or four rows (depends on how wide you make it). We will be planting them in another two or three weeks and I can share a pic if you want.
To control weeds till the field two times. First till.. wait for weeds to grow.. second till before the flowering of the weeds to prevent the fall of seeds again from the weeds..
