    Thank you for sharing this. Just saved me $400 by performing this repair myself instead of paying a shop to do it. 👍🏻

    Excellent video, step by step. You do more work with one hand than most people do with both hands.

    Just did my rf door, pretty much the same , the actual actuator replacement was far easier, except getting the door off which took more time for me than the actuator replacement. Thanks again a year later for an outstanding vid on exact steps needed to do the job, and your tips and secrets to make it even easier.

    outstanding how to vid, I paid over $225 for left door for delco part and labor. I decided that $36 after market oem part and to try right rear door myself, worked exactly and precisely as you represented. The only thing I discovered after putting together was the orange clip to attach the door handle bar was not compatible so i simply swapped the old piece on new actuator and everything went smooth as silk.. Thank you and i will save your link for future and i recommend you to anyone capable of basic mechanical ability!

    Excellent video. Only missing one thing. When completed you should loosen door striker before closing the door. I had to damage the door getting getting it back open again. Loosened striker 1/4 inch. Then slowly move to tighten door. 2008 Lucerne.

    Just re-did the rr dorr after two years. It was good to have this as a refresher. Also want to tell anyone to never buy the lowest price part, as the cheap one failed. I did upgrade to Dorman brands for the two front doors and bit the bullet and paid $108 for a genuine GM part for t0days project.

    • @thelemon2764
      @thelemon2764 Год назад

      I mean the genuine gm part is the one that failed in the first place (and is one of the most common parts to fail on this year of car)

    • @bradjohnson8119
      @bradjohnson8119 Год назад

      @@thelemon2764 Yes, but the originals did last over 10 years . So far the mid price brand (Dorman not made in China btw) ones are doing fine after about two years, only the China $29 one failed at two years. The "genuine" gm was made in Mexico and came the short cable attached and the other end. (not elec cable) I hope I do not need to ever do this again the last one i lost the cable from the door handle to actuator and fell down into the thin metal panel you cant get a finger into lol.
      Got out with coat hanger wire.

    Thank you for the excellent video, had no problem replacing my lock actuator on a '09 Buick LaCrosse. One suggestion, when removing the lower window guide, go ahead and remove the upper guide bolt and remove the window guide, this allows much more room to access the plastic clip on the short door handle rod. Great job!

    At the 10:30 mark you mention to "put the lock rod back into the plastic clip". Not sure what I did but somehow i knocked the lock rod loose and it fell down into the bottom of the door. I was able to fish it out but now I'm not exactly sure where to put it. Any info would be helpful. Thank you.

      At 5:50 I describe this rod as connected to the exterior door handle. I don’t have any video of it, but the handle has a lever arm that the rod connects to.
      On this link there’s an image of the handle.
      It shows a red retainer clip that the rod inserts into.

      @@davemilster Thanks again I used your vid for three doors successfully! The drivers door has the keylock tumbler and connection to the actuator, which made me stumble briefly until i cleared my head with a coffee and figured out that fourth connection. Also power is always live to that actuator so you may find when removing or reinstalling you get activity. Now all doors are complete and BTW I used Dorman brand actuators, they looked to have much better quality than the $15 imports, but also priced midway between $15 and Delco's $120 tag the perfect choice for quality and lower price. I really appreciate you and all the thousands of folks who show how to do something we ordinary people would never think they could do! so my hats off to all who do this! I can add head gasket replaced, valves adjusted, microwave door interlock switch, fuel line replacement on a built-in tank chainsaw, and many more>

    How do you get the door open? Mine isn't working and my door is closed... I cant get it open to remove the actuator

    • @davemilster
      @davemilster  4 года назад

      TheRob1024 If you can use the lock rod at the front of the rear door pull it up. Then go inside from the other side and try to open that door from inside.
      If that doesn’t work, I have no other idea.

    • @davemilster
      @davemilster  5 лет назад

      Ummm… Apparently you didn't watch the whole video. This procedure does not destroy the door pad. You can see around 14 minutes into the video that I'm putting back on the door pad and it clearly is not destroyed. No trick photography. It's the original door pad.
