The Blueprint for Recapturing the Public Universities

  • I have been working with conservative academics and political leaders to revitalize New College of Florida. Our ambition is to return the institution to its original mission of providing students a “classical liberal arts education.” Left-wing activists have mobilized to stop these much-needed reforms-but we will not back down.

Also, please help ensure proper funding is provided to the Moot Court and Mock Trial teams at New College (in addition to being a good learning opportunity, those teams provide training to students that will bring the employment/income targets up for graduates of the college as well).

It seems like the rufo and desantis very much care about political ideology, that is why they are doing this stunt. So its indoctrination if you don't agree with it, but the moment your team calling the shots it academic integrity? Do visit the campus and talk to the professors and students, I'm sure they can tell you thing or two about integrity.

They are going to have to terminate and replace fully 1/3rd of the faculty at this school before it can become a liberal arts institution. As of now, there are not enough faculty on campus who have anything to offer your son to warrant serious consideration of the institution as a place of learning rather than marxist indoctrination.
It only takes a handful of crybullies to shutdown a classroom.

This student with the green hair is “X” Gonzalez, a survivor of the Parkland shooting. She has created a major in “activism” and has openly bragged about not having to take math courses at NCF (this was a statement made during the 2019 discussions regarding the dissolving of the university-I believe the statement was to the Sarasota Herald Tribune.)

@@JT-en9ni This is awful. I can take a wild guess as to who this math teacher was. If I’m correct, I believe he recently retired. Thank you so much for speaking up-it is becoming crucial that more people do that, especially since the school is so intent on conveying the fact that it is “open” to all students. We both know that’s a damn lie. And the sooner they’re called on it, the quicker things can change!

So, there were actual discussions about dissolving the college back in 2019? Can you provide any links related to that? Thanks in advance! To be honest, I hadn't been following any news about New College until this latest brouhaha erupted.
For the record, I didn't take math classes at NC, either -- and that was way back in 1969-1974. Math was always my bête noire, so I was glad to be able to avoid it. But clearly, this was NOT a Good Thing, and I should not have been allowed to get away with it.
I majored -- oops, I mean, concentrated -- in Medieval and Renaissance Studies, which was WAY too specialized for someone whose background in general history was as weak as mine. I guess I dealt with all the crazy confusion of the 20th century by immersing myself in the 12th. But it's a miracle that I got a job after graduation!

University of Dallas, Hillsdale, St. John's, the new University of Austin, Rawlston in Savannah, and a handful of other mostly Christian schools. These schools embrace or will embrace free speech and the tenets of Western Civilization. Universities used to be the "marketplace of ideas". I hope more university administrators will see the light. The simple fact is they are wired to care about safety disproportionately, and in her case, she can feel her queen bee throne starting to crumble beneath her and no one likes losing power, because they see themselves as always benign and beneficial, they are incorruptible. Very encouraging to see you and the others stand up to them and refuse to just do as you're told. Nothing succeeds like success and when other colleges see success, they'll fall in line faster than they ever thought they would. Many are secretly sick and tired of the totalitarianism the woke young wield ruthlessly. The faster we rid ourselves of marxism, in all its guises and forms, the sooner America will heal.

Hey Jesse Hudson - you seem like a normal person. How did you survive at NCF? My son felt like he was shunned, ostracized and ignored by professors. It's a small place and once he was identified as a conservative all his professor knew and made him feel unwelcome. Fellow students were a bunch of weirdos with no internal motivation. The classes were not very structured and he felt like no one really got any kind of benefit from the program. The performance report were biased so a well liked low performer would get a good report from a professor who like the student and a high performer who was not liked may get an average report. I think the lack of a grade probably created problems and made this situation significantly worse than if you lived by a grade and not personality. This whole indoctrination might not have ever become a problem if grades were based on test scores and not on some professors feelings about a student.

      @@JT-en9ni Yikes!!! So sorry!
And yes, I agree, evaluations could be so subjective, biased, and even cruel -- far more devastating than a simple letter grade would have been.
When I was there, back at the height of the Hippie Era, there was one professor who was very friendly toward conservative students: historian Lee Daniel Snyder. There may have been others, too, but Dr. Snyder was my go-to. He has since passed away, alas.
I can't imagine having *no* professors or classmates with open minds and hearts. Your poor son!

Also something to consider: advanced votech - votech schools and community colleges teach the basics, but New College could offer the classroom hrs for master electrician, carpenter, plumber, etc. Plus the blue collar students would be a taming influence on campus.
