We only know Mia as Ethan's wife because the exposition tells us that's a fact. We never experience Mia as a wife in a normal setting. I'm not going to have a "romantic" investment in a character just because the game simply dictates it without bothering to develop the connection through the narrative. Secondly, shortly after this choice we discover that Mia was some kind of bio-weapon escort/special agent(?) - her job must've been completely hidden from Ethan because he had no clue why she had disappeared for years. If you knew your wife had such life-threatening work, you wouldn't be surprised when she vanished on the job. Since he was surprised though, that implies that he didn't even know what her job was. What kind of relationship is that? So much for that marriage trust, right? And finally, Mia clearly sends Ethan a message saying NOT to come get her for his own sake. He completely disregards this and puts his life in danger for a woman who won't even be honest about what her job is. I honestly found the ending where you pick Zoe to be much more satisfying because it seems like Ethan is finally free from this deluded and life-threatening obsession with Mia at the moment where he tosses the phone with her video out of the helicopter.

In my opinion it doesn't make any sense to cure Zoe. You don't know anything about her and you came all the way there to save your wife, Mia. I know she's been trying to kill you most of the time but you'll have to consider it wasn't actually her, it was Evelyne. Mia also needed the cure more than Zoe because I never saw Zoe being controled by Evelyne. And I think Mia is prettier than Zoe. 😂

Same can be said for mia herself from a player's perspective. You don't know her and then when you meet her she tries to kill multiple times and is involved with a bioterrorism group that caused this in the first place while keeping it secret. Zoe actually fucking helps you albeit for her gain bit still ends up helping you majorly. Also Zoe is 100% hotter than mia. ✊🏿

When I first played I chose zoe, I’d known that Mia was “lying to us” by that point, and whatever happened there was because of Mia showing up.... random notes around the house led me to believe the bakers were completely normal before some storm brought Evelin and Mia there. To me Zoe never asked for any of this, and it was because of her that we had the serum anyways.
Mia DID tell me to leave her and stay away in the beginning. It wasn’t fair leaving Zoe behind

Yeah sure, let’s just give Mia a pass because she’s Ethan’s wife. Never mind she was part of the projected THAT STARTED ALL OF THIS! Remember - Eveline is a bio-weapon. Eveline’s actions are _exactly_ what she was created to do. Mia is a person who made the conscious decision to join a project to create a bio-weapon, and _helped transport said bio-weapon!_ I absolutely hate that you have to save Mia (who shares the guilt for what happened) and abandon Zoe (who did nothing wrong) to get the best ending, though the DLC rectified this by having Zoe live.
And I hate that Mia got to live in the end while Ethan didn’t.

Zoe is so dumb, she knew there was only 2 serums, she said to use one on Jack, yet she acts surprised when Ethan says there's only 1 left. I feel like Zoe wanted to be the one to escape, like she didn't want Mia to escape since what happened to Zoe's family is partially Mia's fault.
zoe is the one who made the serum, why not save zoe, work on a second serum use on your wife. problem solved.
Zoe and Mia get killed if you choose to cure Zoe. So she can't really cure anyone if they're both dead.
That wouldn’t work because Zoe will be killed by the serum because she is unaware that the serum is lethal to her specific genetic makeup but not to Mia’s
I chose Zoe and was so surprised by the prevalence of players choosing Mia. In the game, Mia only hurt you (disregarding whoever was in control) while Zoe only HELPED you. I was very disappointed to discover it leads to what it does. Everyone acts like we "KNOW" Mia but we don't in any context besides exposition until this point. Reeeeally blows my mind.
But it's not like Mia did it on purpose. She was possessed. Also, like everyone said, Mia's his wife, and you did everything for your wife, again. Only connection with or sympathy for Zoe is because she helped the player for a part of the game. You don't just say fuck you to your wife because she hurt you when she was possessed and save someone instead of her just because that person helped you. That's like going through college and then saying hell no I don't want the degree I was just here for the knowledge.
i think the choice would be more hard if Mia would cheat on you before the adventure and you discover it until the game.

Andres A It’s not that you need to have a romantic investment in Mia to choose her, it’s more like the player did all this shit for her and he is not going to save someone else because that person just helped the player. Hell, for all we know, Zoe could’ve been helping him in the hopes that Ethan would save her instead of Mia because of the help she lend to him. Also, I don’t think Mia would’ve been able to tell her husband about her life threatening job without him telling her to leave it. She wouldn’t have wanted to for reasons not specified, so I can’t say anything about the job aspect because the game barely tells us anything about that. Also, just saying, that even the developers wanted you to save Mia, as saving Mia is the canon ending as Zoe is saved by Uncle Joe and partly by the help Ethan gave her by calling Umbrella.

I swear people seem to forget that Mia lied to Ethan HER HUSBAND for years about her job which was a extremely dangerous one meanwhile Zoe at least tried to help and never once lied to Ethan

Zoe didn't need to lie to him bc she needed his help while I understand Mia's situation bc her mission was dangerous why would she involve him in this? She didn't even want him to come rescue her
No matter which you choose Zoe's faith is sealed. In my humble opinion Zoe should be the one Ethan saves. Makes no sense to really trust Mia. The game says shes your wife but, the game does very little to make you apathetic towards Mia. Despite their marriage Ethan didn't even know what his wife was working on. She was an escort for dangerous bio weapons which began the end of the Baker family. Remember it was sort of Mia's fault for what happened to them. Mia is an actual enemy in the game that saws you hand off in the beginning. Zoe in the other hand helps you out throughout the entire game. Note that Zoe was infected around the same time Mia was infected if not earlier. Yet, Zoe fights it off and continues to help you despite the fact that the entire family is against her. Zoe deserved to live more then Mia that's just me. But, Zoe's ending is really stupid not to mention you got to fight Mia again if you choose Zoe.

@@awesomegirl5190 It was her fault she was a bio weapon escort. She knew how dangerous Eveline was and she didn't even bother to tell her husband what she was working on. She knew Eveline wanted a family and most importantly wanted a mother figure and as to why she wanted Mia to be her mother. Mia lived because Eveline wanted her alive if not she would of drown. Zoe and her family had zero fault in this entire situation. Zoe did needed Ethan for personal convenience but, she was the only one who knew of the cure and the only one who could do the cure. I do accept that her brother actually was psychopath but, she her dad and mom were normal people. So in my opinion Zoe deserved to be cured rather then Mia.
