Hey really interested in the Cortex Comp Toe but the code doesn't seem to work for that one.
Bout time to move again, huh?
It works out that once I get a shop exactly to my liking, it's time to move, so by that scale I feel like it's about a year away 😂
Amazing work, Paul! We love keeping your feet covered!
I just wish you made them in larger sizes. I wear a 14-15 6E.
Watching you be a big goof who clearly puts a lot of love into your craft always gives me the best vibes man. Keep being awesome!
I just love the fact that you moved palletwood across the country. Thank you for another awesome video Paul.
What's with the painting of the woman up near the peak of the roof? Who is she?
His identical twin sister. 😇
That's my security system for the barn, because who in their right mind would steal anything with her watching over?!
(she was there when I moved in and I thought it was funny to just leave her up there watching over things)
I saw that you were up ton the top of a small(ish) barn. How you handling getting materials in and finished works out? Also would love to see a solution for the bottom where the "dead space" is between the floor/wall and your tools/storage. It looks like your losing 2-3 ft of floor space along the whole length on both sides. Just curious about how you were going to try and recapture that lost space. Nice job!
Right now getting things up and down is just a matter of muscle and carrying it up/down the stairs, or through the window, but I have some plans in the future to build a lift of some kind. For the space along the walls, keep an eye out for next weeks video where I'm going to show how I'm building cabinets to take advantage of the entire space, so there's actually not any dead space after all.
Looks great Paul. That must have been quite the challenge putting the plywood siding on those walls. What is the air filtration mask that you have?
So, a little off topic but, who is the lady in the portrait? In the most polite way possible, I got a very "Flowers In The Attic" vibe. LOL
On Topic: great video of the evolution!
Haha she does watch you no matter where you are in the shop
@@JackmanWorks I bet. It felt like she was watching me through the video hahaha
Thank you for sharing two Years of life with hard work in 10 minutes with us. I really appreciate the Job and hope you get as many views as possible.
Are you still sharing the workshop with your old shop teaher?
Yep! He officially retired this summer, so I'm hoping I can pin him down to being in some videos now, he has some really cool ideas and surprisingly wants to be in the videos too
dude, if you were recording and editing car insurance commercials I would still watch :D
It's good when you have few Jack's to rely on 😁
Good thing you did panel work 2 yrs ago. Unaffordable now
For real!! I think I bought that stuff at $35/sheet and I watched it peak around $90/sheet at one point 🤑
Hola! 🖐The shop is looking awesome!🤩So much work went into it and spans a good amount of time, way to stick to it with all that happened during that period of time. Reading through the comments below, excited to hear that video output is going to become more frequent, that's really good news. As for the shop tour, how about climate control? Does it get really hot/humid, I can imagine it gets freezing in the winter, how are you going to contend with that? Looking forward to the shop tour and more videos. Take care and have a good one, Adios!👊
The other shop had an accent wall with hexagons. Six sides. This shop's accent wall featured plywood rectangles. Four sides. The pattern is last shop's accent wall shape side count minus two. 6, 4, 2, ?. I predict that his next shop will feature an accent wall showcasing lines. As a proud Jackman Works subscriber, I can tell there is a deeper hidden message he is leaving us to figure out.
Then the shop after that will be in a blackhole, spoiler alert
@@JackmanWorks hahaha 😅 I think you're supposed to say spoiler alert before you spoil something, not after 🤔🤔😅😅
Nice work... give me your shop
Awesome workshop! Love your choice of music in this video. You so crack me up. Amazing editing! Looking forward to your upcoming videos. All the best. Peace and Good Fortune and Good Health to you and your family! 😃
Thanks!!
I hope you can stick around in your shop for awhile! If not....you're always welcome back in Rhode Island! The place looks great!! DD
Nice job on the shop. Do you have a special attachment on the nail gun to pop out those nails? If so where can I get one? I love your video editing also.
I sure do! This is the denailer I use: amzn.to/3xW7gUt
Love your stuff, Paul. Always makes me smile watching your videos. Cheers!
Ok, I always knew you were a patient man, but until I saw you were sanding the wall TWICE I knew you reeeeeally have patience! Good job! Your job looks awesome.
You should have used Keith Johnson’s “Total Boat Baby” for when you where storing your total boat ;)
always classy results when a good woodworker is doing renovation work. nice job!
Jacko 💪🍻🤘 as always Maker video brilliance buddy 👍
They need to get big sizes in boots like 16+
I also build my own shop, but more with bricks and concrete.
Looks good! Is 2x8 plywood just Jackman sized pallet slats?
Is there an air purifier there? I'm worried about your lungs
Great video. So entertaining. Had no idea you sanded and finished the walls. Wow, ton of work. Workshop is fabulous! Mahalo for sharing! : )
I might be wrong but this looks like it took a little longer than four days to complete
Can confirm you are not wrong 😂
What is the face mask you wore, looks like it had vents on the top?
Epic montage!! I love the French cleat wall. Lots of versatility. Can’t wait for the shop tour to drop.
#GoBills
You need a like dumbwaiter (small elevator) with all that wood you hauling up.
I have plans for something kinda like this, especially with the flooring project, zero chance I'm bringing all that up the stairs!
If you’re not a dad yet. You should be. Because you have such dad humor
Love this transformation!! Woodshop goals!
Yes!!
Dude is a millionaire. Look at all that plywood. 🤤
Great video... shops are never really complete. I liked the part about moving a pallet of pallet wood because we relocated from the DC area down to Stafford (VA) and the moving guys looked at me like, "WTF, dude?" with my two bins of wood pieces.
"Better keep that offcut... might be able to use it on something..."
I have pieces of wood I think I've moved with me 5 times now, have to keep them around to never use them ha!
Why is it until very recently that you are taking way too long in uploading new content 🤔 within the past week you uploaded 2 videos but before then it's been like 2 or 3 months apart? Did you have a brain 🧠 freeze and run out of thing's to do? Or is there another issue we don't know about!!! As always buddy 💯% 👍 🇬🇧.
It's for another issue you don't know about :) Mostly approval my previous video was holding everything up, but I also have other exciting things going on with the business behind the scenes that I'll talk about soon. Nothing too revolutionary, but it does create a lot of admin work for me.
Jack. Muito Fixe. Parabéns!
Just in time for those PCS orders to drop.... :(
Sorry new to the channel and far to lazy to go back and check but what prompted the move
I'll match your laziness with me being too lazy to explain it 😂
This video tells the whole story: ruclips.net/video/8KqPCuLnDLI/видео.html
@@JackmanWorks ah I see now but I was almost to lazy to tap the link but now
Sorry had a mid sentence nap, so now I see that ur wife is the bread winner and u get to play with ur tool all day.
I wish I could play with my tool all day 😪
Love your channel bud. Get your voiceover game going for those moments when you're not miked up. Keep building brother!!!
I've been trying adding that in more recently, I like it!
Awesome job Paul, the shop turned out great! 😃👍🏻👊🏻
Nice work. You own this space now right?
Nope, this is just a rental
I hope you have a long term lease on that place for all the work you put/are putting in.
Bill
If everything goes as planned, we should be a here a while 😀
When you do the shop tour video, please identify the woman in the portrait, tell us about her and show us the painting (of a ship, maybe?) to her left and down a few feet. Thanks!
I definitely will! Those are some relics left behind from the previous owner of the barn.
Much bigger shop, than when you did the French cleat video. Hopefully more videos ?
Definitely!! Those panels actually have been in 4 different shops now, but I'll be making more panels soon since I have more space for them. Weekly videos will continue for at least a couple more weeks.
Breaking down loads of pallets, then having to get a new pallet to load them on to. Definition of irony 😁👍 Cool finished shop though, nice job.
As frustrating as it was, it did make me laugh in the moment that I picked the wrong pallet to transport my pallets.
You better be nice to Editing Jackman since he's the one who makes you look so pretty. Shop is looking really slick. It's looking so good, it's going to be hard to let this one go when your spouse redeploys again. I hope that when you finish the endwalls you keep the creepy lady painting. Thanks for sharing!
Nice video. Good looking shop.
Great workshop. Did you need to reinforce the underneath section to take the extra weight?
Nope, it's a rock solid barn, not as old as it looks, so it's built quite robust.
Beautiful work as always. Quick question: Where can i find a forehead filter respirator mask like that? Do you find that you like them better?
NO WAY it's been two years since you moved. I refuse to believe it.
That's what I said too!!
Enjoying the transformation of your shop. 👍🏼
Thanks 👍
Hey Jackman! If you're ever in Wales.... fancy sorting my shop?
I love how meticulous you are with even just ply wall panels. Bravo 👏 sir. Bravo.
Seriously though, you are welcome to come and "Jackman" my shop any day.
I don't think I'll be in Wales any time soon, so I will agree that if I'm ever there I'll sort out your shop, hoping that I'll never have to do it haha
@@JackmanWorks well, there we have it. Its pretty much set in stone.
Looking forward to the next video! Keep up the good work... 👍 👌 👏
I'm probably missing something obvious, so I figured I'd just ask: What was the purpose of the dados in the oak trim?
That was just to ensure that it sat flat against the ceiling in case of any protruding screws
@@JackmanWorks gotcha! I have 1/4” on the ceiling in my shop-office and it’s doing the same bowing thing. Might need to do something similar.
So when is your wife up to be transferred to a new duty station???? So, what was your finishing process again for your shop walls? I am going to finish my my French Cleat wall with clear Shellac...also wondered how the Total Boat product compared. Thanks.
It's usually every 3-4yrs, so that means we're still 1-2yrs out. But if everything goes as planned, we'll be here a while.
For the walls I did glossy Halcyon, sanded lightly with 220, then did a coat of satin Halcyon varnish.
@@JackmanWorks Thank you Paul!
I can’t believe it’s been 2 years already. My god, if there is something tedious and labor intensive you can NOT resist!
For the trim you added to the ceiling, maybe add LEDs like the new ones in the O'Neill Tunnel? 😆
For your tour, would you be able to show storage tips and solutions to any issues you may have encountered?
I honestly don't hate this idea, might help me get rid of some of the shadows that I have to deal with due to the weird shape of the shop
Two years? I call shenanigans. You didn’t change a bit. This was a weekend project.
That actually gives me the idea to do a project and just change my shirt a ton of times and say it took me 5yrs to complete
@@JackmanWorks you’re welcome. I expect a 10% royalty on said video.
So, now that you've covered and varnished all the inside, when and how are you flipping it upside down to fiberglass the exterior and then bring that glorious ship on a cruise ?
That's funny because Mac (the owner of the barn) keeps calling my shop the upside-down ship
@@JackmanWorks tell him you're waiting on him for a steam engine 😁
A weeks worth of binge watching this channel and you’re officially one of my top 3 favorite makers on RUclips. You’re editing just gets better and better dude. You’re channel inspired me to make a chair. It’s ugly as fuck but I want to make something else ASAP.
Love the new shop, yes its me again, you probably just read my last post. I know Im catching up, a couple of years behind. I must say ply panels must be cheap where you are as they cost a fourtune here and I could see thousands and thousands to do what you did. Would love to know a budget idea of your rebuild. I am assuming this barn is a rental so the owner must love your reno or will. Also I did not hear why you were upstairs and not down stairs in the barn, is there a lift or does this make large projects more difficult as you need to get them to the ground.
I don't know why, but I was sad that I didn't see you hang the french cleat wall on the french cleat wall when you cut the 45.🤣
Ha!! I literally just hung the full french cleat panel on the other one yesterday (the ones I took off the gable end wall), I felt like I was doing something I shouldn't be doing lol
@@JackmanWorks "Yo dawg..."
That's a king's ransom in plywood! I'm really envious of the ceiling height, and considering where you came from, I'm sure you appreciate it.
Awesome transformation, Hugh! 😉🤣
I am curious about your process for furring out the rafters for flatness. I did this in my attic space and it wasn't entirely straight forward
Unless the rafters were already flat ebough
Honestly I just went with "good enough" on that. Rafters definitely weren't flat and the alignment wasn't perfect, but it was within 1/4" or so, which I decided was ok for just a woodshop.
You had me at, "very nice dull shine"
It sounds dumb, but I can't find a better way to describe it 😂
So now that the shop is kind of done, when will you move to the next one? XD I remember that you wife regularly has to move due to her job.
Love th new space. How did you run dust collection?
Amazing transformation! Good thing there are 3 Jackmans to do all the work! Now you just need to install a lift!
Great video Paul, love your design and, of course, the sense of humor! See you next week at Maker Camp.
See you there!!
Nice space!
Thanks!
So weird, here I thought it was just one of you. I had no idea there were Triplets.
No love for your helpers? Ouch
They get love in the form of money, and food in their bellies 😂
This man should have millions of subscribers.
Very nice video Wish to see more frenquently Great Job
Great news for you, I'll have weekly videos for at least a couple more weeks, my video last week is what was holding everything up
@@JackmanWorks Great news indeed ! Thanks
Looking forward to the shop-tour!
Who is the woman in the painting high up on the wall?
At 2020 prices that was probably $30,000 of plywood.
I somehow lucked out and snagged it all just after we moved, before prices went up. Only $35 a sheet I think, but I saw it peak at over $90 at one point
what steps where taken to prevent the critter invasion?
"Critter Invasion" would be such a great band name
@@JackmanWorks my old screen name (cough aol days cough) was critters in me crack.
Buen trabajo agotador👍👍
Lots work... looks nice
Thanks!! Definitely worth the effort
Does the extra weight of the wood impact the rafters?
I'm sure it impacts it some, but it's also meant to hold weight like that whether it by plywood, drywall, or anything else.
Who is in the picture?
Well done...
How much wood would a woodchuck chuck if a woodchuck could chuck wood?
Yes
He would chuck, he would, as much as he could, and Chuck as much wood as a woodchuck would if a woodchuck could chuck wood.
Why a new shop?
This will answer that question better than I can in a comment, ruclips.net/video/8KqPCuLnDLI/видео.html
Brother you constructed yourself a fire hazard.
AKA a woodshop 😂
