I think I love this channel! Fighting consumerism with pure science. These others natural channels are truly horrible when it comes to knowledge. They just regurgitate what the heard from the last RUclipsr they watched. 😒
I’ve learned the hard way that all of this information really is important! Growing and maintaining healthy hair can’t just be done by just winging it!
So true, the names often mean nothing. Loads of protein products (except for Aphogee) have barely any protein in, and the products which DO have protein in are often described as moisturising or softening even. I've noticed that products for courser textures seem to be the most honest, with good ingredients at a fair or low price, they actually do what they say more.
This is probably been the most easily understandable explanation of balancing protein and conditioning I've come across so far. I think now I have a much better idea of how to form a proper routine for my hair. Thanks!
Your channel should be bigger! Nuttin but pure facts, I learnt the hard product junky way but thank god I still have long hair with all the trash I put init 😭😂♥️👌🏾🇬🇧
Ah really helpful tip!! I have a protein treatment from ORS's Hair Mayonnaise- Horsetail & Nettle Extract Masque that I feel has greatly helped my hair & yet at the same time, caused this natural feel of stiffness. My other weekly deep conditioner or as needed, is an Shea Moisture' Manuka Honey & Yogurt Protein & Moisture Masque... The tip you mentioned about using an absolutely protein-free deep conditioner is going to be greatly helpful to start implementing!! Thank you for that. I've been using a regular conditioner & leaving a tiny dab amount in because I've noticed the dryness my hair is signaling out to me lol, I have average width/medium density, and natural low porosity hair. And it's true... My hair is protein sensitive. Though I've truly incorporated in natural to lighter versions of protein into allowing it to be strengthened, as it's currently transitioning. I've just now really started to give my natural roots a chance to completely breathe again, without for once, wanting to have it straightened. Though, that's adjustable if ever necessary, hopefully not lol.
@@AfopeAtoyebi wait, so I washed my hair today (this week is "protein" wash day), you mean after I washed out my protein deep conditioner, I have to put a second deep conditioner (moisturizing) after that? On next week (moisture week), only moisturizing deep conditioner only? Please make it make sense😳😊
@@elliyah for your protein wash day (even if it's a light/moisturizing protein treatment) follow up with moisturizing deep conditioner too? Also I'm thinking about adding Aphogee to my protein regimen (I definitely know to add moisture after it). 😆
You are so right that the haircare industry is all about selling us products galore! I can't wait to get to the stage of not feeling like I need to try everything! I'm starting to get an idea of what truly works, but its always fun to try the new stuff. Either way, I'm here for this video sis!!! 💛
I just subcribe to your channel. I really like the way that you are teaching us how to take care our hair. Thank you for sharing your knowledge with us.
hi. please make a video about surfactants, silicones, DMDM and all those ingredients which causes hairfall according to google and pretty plenty of youtubers. please please it's request
Could you please do a video on Shea moisture products 🙏? I'm having a hard time figuring it out! And I'm about to go crazy with my microscope 😆 cuz I can't see the ingredients!!! Love ya girl!!!
Isn’t there a different between hydration and moisturizing? Like hydration is the water and moisturizing is for example an oil that keeps the water in.
@@AfopeAtoyebi Easy peasy. Most of my recipes take less than 30 minutes to prep. My shampoo is an African Black Soap concoction; my DC is a fenugreek paste concoction, and my finishing cream is mostly Flaxseed gel and oils. Plus, I can easily pronounce all the ingredients. 🤣
Hahahaha 👌🏾👌🏾👌🏾 I’d say keep an eye on your hair as it continues to grow, to make sure your hair is getting all it needs, and be open to trying the right store bought product for those needs if/when such a time arises. That being said, with the level of intentionality you clearly have, I have no doubts you’ll be okay 🥰.
@@AfopeAtoyebi Agreed. I do my best to give my body what it needs via food. And what I cannot get from food (because I am vegan-ish), I take plant-based supplements. Although, most products give me angst, I did purchase Target's new Emerge brand to see if it is good, better or worse than my DIYs. I may do a comparison video.
I want help with curl definition. Please. All products work for 20 minutes and when it’s dries my hair stops being defined. I have high porosity, high density, I and O curl hair. The O curls define better than the I curl. Please help.
I used rice water as a conditioner 3 weeks in a row but did not condition after the rice water. The first week my hair was beautiful. Second week hair became a bit frizzy, third week my hair was very frizzy, broken, & dry. Nothing I use now has helped to improve my hair. I think it is now low porosity, dries fast, thin, still somewhat curly. Your videos are very helpful. I hope to find tricologist in my area either in a dermatologist office or a salon. Thank you for educating us.
You could use it as a protein conditioner, yes. Protein conditioners tend to be milder than protein treatments (which have proteins listed in the top 3 or so ingredients).

Agreed. Very few like this.
So true! I keep asking annoying questions on groups and all I get is regurgitated opinions.. I just want facts damn it.
true but our girl is a trichologist so she know what she talkin about
“Sanctified water!” 😂🤣😂🤣

As soon as a RUclipsr/IG influencer endorses a hair product, everyone is all over it. Drives me nuts. We need to educate ourselves better. 🤦🏾♀️
Girl out there giving truth and knowledge to all of us. Been binging your videos since yesterday when I found your channel
Afope, Im distracted by the beauty of your skin colour and healthy hair that I had to replay your video to grab the info you are sharing.
Awh
I want a moisturizer with holy water as its first listed ingredient. 🤪
This is probably been the most easily understandable explanation of balancing protein and conditioning I've come across so far. I think now I have a much better idea of how to form a proper routine for my hair. Thanks!
Yep my super Low Porosity hair snapped when I did the Aphogee 2 step protein treatment, my hair hated it!!!
Low porosity is never really supposed to have protein treatments on it

After a protein treatment, do you have to go in with a moisturising deep conditioner?
Yesssssss it’s always ideal to do this especially if you have high porosity hair ☺️

iliciaq Hey, Yes you have to apply a deep conditionner right after your protein treatment. Protein tend to dry hair :)

I use a rinse out conditioner after deep conditioning protein or moisturizing DC.
These tips are amazing! Thank you so much for bringing an educational perspective to this entire matter. It is so helpful!
THAT INTROOOOO IS WHAT I'M LIVING FOR.
I heard the OKUUURR & got excited, then I saw the Adore gif & now I'm super hyped haha

What hair type can handle a lot of protein ? If someone can help me....
🥺 Thank you for this video, it was very informative ❤️
I believe high porosity, you should probably double check that with someone more qualified than me though lol
if your hair is in moisture overload/hygral fatigue.
otherwise play it by ear.
Isn’t there a different between hydration and moisturizing? Like hydration is the water and moisturizing is for example an oil that keeps the water in.
Do you have a video about products for low porosity hair?
What are your thoughts regarding the formaldehyde releaser (Urea) in the top ingredients of the Aphogee?
Ilearnt that hair care is the most hard thing to do and master.
I love you channel, so much knowledge 👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻 defanaly watching all your videos
Too many products on the market have me mad confused, which is why I strictly DIY. 🤣
Oh wow! That’s A1 level commitment, girl. How do you find that - time wise?

Spot on!😉
Thank you! 💓🙏🏽
