It never fails. When the time for finals starts rolling around, and I have a whole bunch of papers to write, music from NES games are the only things that keep me going.
I was playing this game as a ten year old boy ... now 19 years later i still think this is hard to beat. But i will never forget this music. thank you for sharing this piece of music
I wish more modern games could capture that sort of beginning of the world feeling that some of these old NES games had. The music is a big part of that.
tarrker that kind of magic in gaming is long gone. This was a time of epic designers, music composers that did it from their guts. Pouring everything they had into these games.
This just gets better with age. And that cheery music at the end when the four bosses beat the ever living crap out of you is simply the best. Damn fine game...frustratingly difficult, but so rewarding when you finally win.
I got this game the 1st week it came out! Wow! I brought this over my cousin's house when I used to sleep over and we used to take turns playing until one of us died! Such great childhood memories this game brings back!!
Same for me. Only once we managed to make it to IceFire mountain. Then almost immediately triggered the elemental head ... thingys, and got smoked. Never managed to beat it without abusing emulator save states
I remember I bought this game at KB Toys back in the day!!! Was fan of the fist game and when I saw W&W II in the cover, I was so hyped!!! 3:56 has always been my favorite track from this game!!!
this game was so hard i couldnt get passed the first mountain as a young child lol luckily i appriciated it enough to go back and beat it as an adult xD
One of my favorite tracks ever is Ice Fire Mountain. A weird track for a final boss fight, but when I play it I'm always thinking, THIS IS TOO AWESOME FOR ME TO CARE!
i remember being totally scared with the intro song when i was little. i would press start as fast as possible to skip it. amazing music, but a hard game
What a great childhood, this was one of the first games that caught me, and the music was simply magic to the ears. Que maravillosa infancias, éste fue uno de los primeros juegos que me atrapó, y la música simplemente magia para los oídos.
Yep the controls and detection in I think all three games added to its difficulty. But I always loved the music in them. Didn't notice til now it was Fabio on the cover heheh. Great upload the memories.
It's funny to me that the unused tracks in the W&W games are some of the best. :P Great job WiiGuy! Thanks for uploading this and arranging them so well.
Just because you posted the first one up today I had to listen to this one too now...I remember I played this one before I played the first one. I really forgot how great the music was in this one.
I remember renting this one back in the day, wondering who was that man from the cover, i loved the music of it, but the game was really hard for me, i was 9 yo at the time, i think i never passed from the second stage.
Now that I think about it, both this and Wizards & Warriors III have some kind of peculiar tune that serves as the lead-in to the final boss. In this game it's the skull game theme being played in the final caves before the summit and in the third game it's the Final Road/Tunnels theme.
LOL don't even worry about it. You loaded it in the same order that I played the games when I was younger lol. I can't wait for 3. I never played the game but I'm sure the music was awesome.
Best game over music i heard so far.....think Batman on the NES takes 2nd place for that. :D I also had the pleasure to hear it more often back in the days, this sequel was much harder than the first game that one was, a bit too easy. Some odd difficulty balancing between the 2.
Most people don't notice much of anything in this game, they just get really confused and give up. I did play that game but I learned all that stuff afterwards.
I got this game as a kid. It's difficult and flawed - I still haven't beaten it - but it still has some charm. I credit a lot of that appeal to David Wise's excellent soundtrack!
Cameron Moyer The wind level had sweet music and it was kinda fun to bounce around on the clouds. It has a really hectic and epic feeling getting carried into the clouds by that eagle.
ubertroopa Ahhh! Stage one level 2. find the golden egg to get to the cloud boss! that was a fun level! hated trying to get to the magic spell though. those things keept killing me! took me 49 trys just to get to it. how many times did you try?
Was the Fire Demon like: "Those other Elementals can use different songs for their stages, but the song for my stage *WILL BE* the one you hear fighting me!!"???
Would love another W&W, nice little side scrolling platformer with some detailed spritework and an old-timey fantasy tale. Various equipment to facilitate problem-solving, some light puzzle... maybe even introduce different game modes (arcade, etc) for leaderboards. Drop in-out co-op with bonuses for a Wizard and Warrior, or two of each. Hey, it'd be a great budget title.
Sorry, necrod this, but... dude... make that happen. Reach out, be a leader and director of, and make it happen. Not hard, just have to get others with same passion to work for free, lol.
***** I think there was another variant of this game where different tracks were assigned to different parts of the game, as I recall with 100% certainty that in my copy, the title screen theme was Victory (9:34) and the first stage (Wind Mountain) theme was Store / Game Over (1:29). I no longer own that copy of the game, but I remember this with absolute clarity, and I've never been able to successfully confirm with anyone that there existed a variant of Ironsword featuring this particular music arrangement. Always been a mystery I've wanted to try researching, as there has to be a reason for this. The shop theme at 3:24 actually sounds kind of familiar to me, too, so it may be that in that alternate variant of the game, that WAS the shop theme -- though I don't recall that with anywhere near as much clarity.
Loved this music so much, sometimes I would make it to a level and just let myself sit there in game so I could keep hearing the song while I cleaned my room. :P
I remember playing this when it first came out. I was so eager, since I was already hooked on the first Wizards & Warriors. But the music was by far the most magical experience, even beyond the gameplay. It was almost surreal, and really pushed the limits of the NES synthesizer.
I remember always screwing around in the shop to get myself kicked out. XD I also remember that for some reason the main character's sprite looked like the Michelin man to me.

WAAAAY ahead of its time. This soundtrack is unreal.

It’s retarded how good the melodies actually are
It never fails. When the time for finals starts rolling around, and I have a whole bunch of papers to write, music from NES games are the only things that keep me going.

hi
It was a pretty difficult game. I think I only ever beat it once. I'm not sure I ever beat the first one.
This music is embedded into my SOUL!!

I think this is the best NES soundtrack
I got this game the 1st week it came out! Wow! I brought this over my cousin's house when I used to sleep over and we used to take turns playing until one of us died! Such great childhood memories this game brings back!!

this game was so hard i couldnt get passed the first mountain as a young child lol luckily i appriciated it enough to go back and beat it as an adult xD
I shredded those mountains as a young child, get your game up!
I used to just sit there with game playing in the background listening to a lot of these sweet tracks
I was addicted to this as a kid...HAD TO FINISH this game so I borrowed it from my cousin...Anyone notice that's Fabio on the cover? Lol
One of my favorite tracks ever is Ice Fire Mountain. A weird track for a final boss fight, but when I play it I'm always thinking, THIS IS TOO AWESOME FOR ME TO CARE!

+Kelly Greenidge Does that thing actually work well?
Tiger74147 why yes it does. I first used it a lot for all my import games I wanted to play with a English patch.
Icefire Mountain is just on another level for an NES game.

This soundtrack was probably one of the best from the NES. No foolin'. Only thing I can think of that's more memorable is Mega Man 2.
Not sure I agree, but the cloud world track is outstanding for sure!

David Wise also did Donkey Kong Country and he also did a great job on that game.
I can't even count the times as a kid I would hit reset on the NES with volume cranked up just to rock out to the intro ;P

I guess Kuros must be a little bashful wearing all that armor. He should be proud that he looks like Fabio.

The title theme. Fabio's rippling muscles. Box art with fire and skies. Pinnacle 80s high fantasy.
Ironsword is for me the Quasm of the NES. It got this weird energy that I can't even put into words.
When I was young I thought that was Schwarzenegger and that this game was about Conan Barbarian.
