BLASTING its way onto the scene is a newer/better version of this OST, with a new mix that provides Improved quality, along with updated text, and visual background: ruclips.net/video/a-xmB6C4k94/видео.html
BGM Composers are the unsung heroes of the old school video game world. There are so many excellent pieces of music these people weren't really recognized for back in the day, I'm glad there was a revival of sorts with channels like this.
I totally agree! I actually run a music theory channel and one of my main goals is to look into what makes compositions from the NES, SNES, GB, etc. absolute gems. Funnily enough, I saw this comment while coming to this OST to begin a script on Master Blaster's opening theme as well as the ending theme.
This is really 100% truth. When I was in the 2nd grade, every day after school was a runthrough of Mega Man 2. This was the game that really woke me up to what a game soundtrack could be, and in retrospect as an adult, I now realize that was actually the first “heavy metal” game soundtrack I ever heard. If you want to hear this and other similar game soundtracks fully realized, search up Bit Brigade on RUclips. You will NOT be sorry!
Games back in the day were a sick grind. You learned to play some levels with your eyes closed, just because you died so many times and had to play it over and over and over. When you won the cartridge became a trophy, no one was allowed to touch it.
Brings a tear to my eye recalling those wonderful days of playing this game and so many other NES games with my daughter Amanda. I just wish the tracks were longer.
I will always love this game. It's my second favorite NES game and third of all time. I used to pop it in just to listen to the intro music while i did my home work.
I just turn up the volume, close my eyes, and see all the screens and challenges for each one of these songs and remember all the great game days back in the day when ...….. AWESOME!!!!
area 7 music brings back so many memories! I remember when I first got there all my friends were watching me in awe!!!! No one spoke a word.. they watched me beat this game for the first time!!!
man, I wish I would have been there with you and your friends to watch you finish that game for that first time!!! Sounds like pure epicness to me!!! Area 7 soundtrack is also my favorite of the game btw!!!
Boy, this brings back memories as a kid in the late 80s/early 90s. All-nighters playing this with my brother and friend. Usually had to call up the NES hotline for help. Great times!
Heres a hack for ya so you can beat the game like everyone else. When you get to a boss, notice how when you attack the boss n the target illuminate, once you see that happen pause the game. If you time it right, the boss is taking damage as you paused the game. Unpaused the game and the boss is finished, if not pause longer next time.
I find it funny that I have such a deep connection with the music from the intro to area 3, and literally everything else is foreign to me because I never got past stage 3 when I was a little guy lol
Area 5: Underwater is so magician, my fav. Never passed it on console when was 8y kid, didnt know about buggy killing bosses and game looked very long and hard. finished it only on emulator. Awesome game, awesome ost, should be in top5 nes list of every nes fan
Ah, brings back so many memories. I played this game several times, hoping to finally beat it one day. One run, got to Area 7 before I lost all my lives, meaning, yep, back to the beginning. Didn't play for MONTHS after that. Then, one Saturday, decided, this time, I was going to beat it. After 8 long hours...the credits rolled, and a manly tear rolled out my eye. I knew I finally did what few have done before me.
Sunsoft NES music is a step above others IMO. The vibrato/pseudo-reverb effects, bass lines and percussion sounds really push the limits of the chip. I remember playing this as a kid and cranking the volume of my dad's kenwood stereo system and having it shake the house.
I never thought 8 bit music would sound better in stereo, but it does! Love the intro music in stereo, and the iconic Area 01. Awesome work, and it brings back memories! :)
Man this game bring a lot of good memories of my childhood years. This game was incredible and I used to beat all the time. The location of the stages were genius: places where you wouldn't even look to find, damn. And this game was challenging, especially the last boss. Nice uploads man, thanks
Ahh, back in the days when you had to leave the NES on for hours until school got out; ingenious how you achieved the stereo effect =) And, level 7, holy crap level 7.
I remember that I and two friends used to play Blaster Master all the time back In the days =) We literally had a blast every single time. *sigh* I sure miss those days. That´s also why I really appreciate your work, cuz this made me remember all those awesome childhood memories =) So thanks bro, and have a nice weekend!
Man. Back in the days when stopping for the night meant leaving your NES on all night, and during school, and hoping no one noticed or turned it off. I loved the old cheats.. pausing at the right moment to rip a boss apart? Aww yeah!
i played this game and loved the effort they put into it, Lord knows it wasn't easy, but i defeated all the masters and the two main boss Masters at the end i really love this game
area 1 music sounds so nice, decades ago when I first meet this iconic music in Super Mario Crossover - a flash game, I started searching for this. For 10 year old me, that is just some music which makes you feel truly delightful when you listen to it on your way school After listening to a lot of Edm, I think this definitely needs a psytrance genre remix. Also Sunsoft titles started from Batman really defines what a good video game soundtrack is called
I gotta say, I stumbled onto this channel yesterday and it is already my favorite music station on RUclips. Thanks for making my freaking boring job something much more tolerable and giving my sense of nostalgia liquid Crack :)
Easily my favorite level, but I think every NES game that had a snow level had the best music. I loved NG's snow level music. You should checkout Vomitrons remake of this game and other 8 bit classics, epic stuff man.
Epic game, epic soundtrack =) People can think whatever they want. But I still think that Blaster Master are one of the very best NES games In history.
While listening to this whole sountrack my mind randomly generates the sound of when an enemy hits you. It happened so often it's part of the music (mostly with Area 2 and 5 music)
I used to rent this quite a few times as a kid! It was confusing to me as a kid though. I couldn't make it past the first area. I think I was able to beat that boss, but I would die soon after that or I didn't know where the exit was or something like that. I cant really remember, but I know I never played the second area. I just saw some of a speed run video of someone playing this and the game looks a lot easier than I remember it. Might have to fire up the emulator and give it a try again! :)
God, I love humming Area 6's theme on those subzero bike rides to school. Canadian winters are badass, man. And I remember when I was younger, Area 8's music creeped me the hell out, I always had to get the fuck out of there whenever Uncle Chris was playing. d:
Florin Liviu Sad, but true. I love the sound of Nes, It is kind of funny. I listen to classic music like NES tunes and early Resident Evil music a lot. Nothing wrong with newer music. it is not for me. Too much symphonies. Love the classic chiptunes and beats.
TrueHolyRune yes I do the same , I am listening to a lot of NES music almost everyday from a lot of games . I am trying now to collect a gameboy advance SP and the game cartriges to play the epic titles :)
Florin Liviu Same here bro. I put all my gaming music to my psp and psvita, then plug it into my surround sound. Is great bro. Its sounds right with subwoofers and tower speakers. And my friends said it wouldnt sound good. Showed them ey.
I don't think people really have any idea just how good this music really was. The writing and melodies are phenomenal; brilliant layering and even great sound choices. Game music today is higher fidelity but completely empty - totally vapid.

Sunsoft definitely had the magic touch when it came to NES tunes. The amount of stunts they pulled off that actually worked is incredible. This game was pretty good... I just remember it being incredibly frustrating as a kid because it lacked the ability to be saved and continued at a later point. Now that they have emulators and such, I should really give it another go.
Sunsoft were too great of a company that died too early, only making a handful of fantastic NES games, the NES library needed more Sunsoft bass! But yeah give this game another go, but, nothing beats completing the game on cartridge, or at least Virtual Console.
The good old days where passwords, saved games didn't exist and the wall had cracks for being hit by your head after getting the Game Over screen during the final boss.
Hey, just a heads-up so you can annotate it: the area 7 music was also the music for the final boss fight, the guy with the shield and whip. Good grief this game was so freakin' hard.
My most favorite game on the NES. Too bad it takes over 2 hours to finish in one shot, thanks to the lack of saves. Amazing soundtrack. Ice stage and Lava stage music.
Woah....wait a minute. This IS stereo! Voice 1 is phased to the left and Voice 2 is phased to the right. I see what this guy did.....I know how he did it, but I would have never thought to do that! Boss!!!
Area 6 is the song that would always go through my head whenever I'd be riding my bike to school on a cold day. (One of THOSE cold days, that only Canada could give you.)
Mario, Zelda, Metroid, Megaman, Casltevania... so many NES games lived on for decades in sequels... this one REALLY should have become a legendary Nintendo series as well. I know there was a sequel or two but they were crap... a well done "Super BlasterMaster" was critical, and it just never got made.
Imagine if the team that made Castlevania Symphony of the Night or the team that made Super Metroid had made Blaster Master 2... it would have been a life shatteringly epic game. Both the side scrolling tank levels and the top down walk around the caves shooting parts would have been excellent in 2 player.
Blaster Master Overdrive for the WiiWare was as close to a good sequel as it was going to get. Oddly enough, the features that were suppose to make the game more accessible to modern audience felt like it made the game too linear. A map is dandy, but then there's no exploration, just go from point A to Point B, etc.
Wow, 😭😭countless hrs with my cousin when we were younger. I used to love watched him played. I would be kinda like a coach. I would look for details in the game just incase he missed somethings. 👍👍👏👏
This shit is so good. This might be my favorite game soundtrack of all-time - it's between this and Bionic Commando ...well, throw Mega Man II in there too.

This game is legend. And it's soundtrack is even more legendary.
I beat this game back on nes and I still remember the music because it took so many tries to learn how to beat it! Love it👍❤😎
area 6 - that was a deep track for its time.
the most underrated one
Brings a tear to my eye recalling those wonderful days of playing this game and so many other NES games with my daughter Amanda. I just wish the tracks were longer.

One of THE best soundtracks from the NES era.
Boy, this brings back memories as a kid in the late 80s/early 90s. All-nighters playing this with my brother and friend. Usually had to call up the NES hotline for help. Great times!
Why did Sunsoft always had the coolest music. This is awesome
Two reasons. 1) They had Naoki Kodaka compose the tunes. 2) They had an innovative way to amp the bass, unlike any other developers.
No Konami does (on my opinion)
You've got solid arguments for Sunsoft, Konami, Namco, Nintendo, and Software Creations as having the best musicians on the FC.
Capcom tho guys come on
@@MegaBubble Capcom had the greatest game soundtrack of all time... MegaMan 2
Never did beat this game but the soundtrack and the gameplay make it enjoyable. I still have it to this day.

I never beat it either. It was a tough one!
The hi-hats and drum work shine; especially area 3/ending.
I find it funny that I have such a deep connection with the music from the intro to area 3, and literally everything else is foreign to me because I never got past stage 3 when I was a little guy lol
You're like the only guy who actually puts the composer on all his videos

Yes! Blaster Master! My all time favorite NES game. I just want to tear shit up when I hear the 2nd (main theme) track. YES!
Don't hold it back man! NES love is REAL love! X3
These are so great. Thanks for adding your technique to them as well. They sound fantastic!
BEAUTIFUL music! This game is a complete masterpiece!
Sunsoft NES music is a step above others IMO. The vibrato/pseudo-reverb effects, bass lines and percussion sounds really push the limits of the chip. I remember playing this as a kid and cranking the volume of my dad's kenwood stereo system and having it shake the house.
Those boss themes really get your adrenaline pumping
That part in lava caves. Yeah you know the part. It's so amazing.
i loved this game. one of my favorites. i stayed up all night long playing this. i got goosebumps listening. thanks for the flashbacks memories.
Makes me feel as if i'm walking into a cave with a soundtrack. Great music and game.
Lots of people never saw levels 6-8 because that level 5 crab boss wrecked their shit.
THis game is truly amazing and still holds up well.
I never thought 8 bit music would sound better in stereo, but it does! Love the intro music in stereo, and the iconic Area 01. Awesome work, and it brings back memories! :)
I had to hit replay before the tears dried up.
Bought this game online last week, got it in today, can't wait to play it ... but schoolwork first along with the tunes here :)
It's February 2020 and I'm still listening to this. Awesome soundtrack for an awesome game.

Awesome game and amazing soundtrack for the time!
Great game, very underrated. :)
And it's the authentic arcade version!
Area 4 sounds like a super inspiration for a track in Cavestory! Me gusta
great upload. Sounds real good. Bring back those great memories i had with this game.
Wow, Naoki Kodaka has done amazing job.

NES games take time to get into, mostly a lot of the ones that are regarded as "Tough as balls" :P

Area 7 in stereo. Aaaaaahhhh now that's game music
Anyone remember the "Worlds of Power" Blaster Master book? Where they named the frog "Fred"? When you kill the frog in Area 7 it really got to me.
I was so excited when i saw the book in the book order.

I just don't have the time that I used to to commit to this one. Chances are, my kids would knock the reset switch or something on me hahaha.
now THIS was a soundtrack. I remember playing this game just to hear the music. same went for Batman 1(NES) and Mega Man 3& 4 (NES).
The good old days where passwords, saved games didn't exist and the wall had cracks for being hit by your head after getting the Game Over screen during the final boss.
No regenerating health, no regenerating ammo, and no annoying in game hints/NPCs always pointing you in the right direction.
Just how I like it!
And BM's final boss was a d-bag on top of it...
sunsoft made a pretty good job on these games keep up the good wrk!!!!!!!:)
blaster master, bionic commando, wonder boy, some games with the best music

Gawdamn I love the creepiness in the Catacombs music so much. Soooo fucking good, like Lavender Town good. The whole OST is fantastic though.
